THANK HEAVENS.... Finally, Printers and Ink working like it always should have! I was looking to get a new printer, and was dreading trying to find the best one to refill cheap, and last a long time. WOW... Good on Epson actually giving what the people have always wanted.
I bought an Epson L-355 in May of 2015. Best purchase I ever made. I also bought a somewhat newer model a couple of years ago for a friend who makes dozens of art printst on it. Both are still working perfectly. We run ours on wifi. Best purchase I ever made, and my fingers are no longer rainbow-colored .
Thank you for reviewing this! I just got mine last week and I LOVE it! I bought a regular printer and I am not kidding, within 50 pages the ink would start to get light and blurry and the money I spent on ink was insane. I have printed at least 100 pages on my new Ecotank, they are crisp and clear, and I've barely budged the ink levels!
I love the fact that they are not hiding the amount of ink you have like all the others are. The (the others that pull a cover-up, or wool over your eyes, etc...) other printers tell you that you are low on ink when you, really, still have half a tank left!
Yea, they did first series Epson Ecotank ET-2550 August 2015 first model ET with transculanet ink and bottle were messy that time squeezing it until years by years improved ET system+bottle. Epson did great as Japan ridden of old inkjet no more and Epson ink tank is better than other brand cause they the first to do it imagine 2015 and 9yrs ago they had idea 2012.
right lol I am trying to save some money even if it means spending more up front. I have learned that's how the rich do it :-P I unfortunately am not rich so I have to save up, use credit which I really dislike doing, etc...
The printer is unusable, after 2 to 3 years after only a few thousand pages the error message appears that the cleaning sponge needs to be replaced! And the error message must be reset in the software. Only Epson can do that, and you don't get a reset code by email. In the EU, "maintenance" costs around € 120, a cheek. Anyone who prints a lot should use an office laser.
I have had an ET4750 for a couple of years now. Black is just under half full. I have found that you must use the printer at least once a week because if they clog you are in trouble. The 4750 is an all in one and the best thing I have bought because I no longer worry about the life of the expensive cartridges.

I print newsletters for a club and have been through the color lasers, refilling toner, then to hacked continuous feed inkjet with clumsy filling and hassle. I saw this Epson come onto the market and decided to give it a try. I found a refurbished model, and boy am I hooked. Since then I have set one up for a small auto workshop and have 2 other friends bought them on my recommendation. Can't believe it when I asked the autoshop owner about his printer, and he says "I love my printer!" You never hear that, ever, until the Epson.

I got this model after my old one stopped communicating with Wi-Fi and the drivers were too old to support my computer. It basically bricked so I tossed it/gave it away and bought this model refurbished. I’m cheap too. I can’t believe how excited I am about a printer, but it’s akin to having a really old phone, then upgrading. I also like that it’s more compact than my prior Epson. That said, I’m not impressed with the printing quality, but I have it primarily for printing labels and scanning. Thanks for the great review.
I bought a Epson Eco tank ET-2820 a week ago. Really easy to set up, even on TWO computers. My only comment is that the ink saturation was a bit low and it took me ages to find out how to turn the ink saturation up. But now it is OK and I really like this new Epson ET-2820. Hi Steve, great video. I have an Eco Tank 4550 which I've had for almost 2 years and love it. FYI, you can check the number of sheets that have gone through your old printer by right-clicking on the printer icon, select printer settings, select the maintenance tab and select Printer and Option Information. That will give you a sheet count. Might be helpful when discussing how much ink you've used. Thanks for all the great videos.
@kennethlau2034 about 100 so far. Thats mostly pages with text, but i have done a few A4 colour photos printed on glossy paper too. I'm just having problems getting it to work with the main software for my work, but I think it's the old laptop at fault rather then the printers fault. Anyway the ink hasn't hardly dropped at all, maybe a millimetre but no more, which is really amazing. When I've had Epson or Brother printers with cartridges in the past, 100 pages would have used a third of the ink in the cartridge.
Had one at work that lasted atleast ~5 years. Daily printing on weekdays, probably weekend by the boss too. Printer heads finally were out. In the middle of a move right now, but when things settle down I'm getting one for the house.
hi steve ,my question is can this printer be used with white toner in order to print on heat transfer paper .if yes this would save me so much money on material and time and the printer itself i could probably live off my home business .
great review. just bought this printer and to get validation is big. it aint perfect but it it reduces waste and a better footprint. thanks for making this. I watched it all and didnt look away at all. Solid Production
I really appreciate your review of this item. As a result, I'll be buying a couple for Christmas gifts. I think the convenience and ecology are huge selling points. Thank You So Much for this review.
Be sure your new ecotank printer has a removable waste ink tank aka maintenance tank, if not when the pads are saturated with ink from cleaning cycles the whole printer must be sent back to a service center for cleaning and maintenance costing you.....almost a new printer. Older versions of the ecotank have no user replaceable maintenance tanks, so check this before buying one.
Epson ET-4750 I bought mine in 2014 and still working fine :) needs attention occasionally ,cleaning the printer heads easy enough to do. what you save in INK! it pays for itself.
I didn’t know Costco carried them. I going to check them out thank you! Especially now that Costco closed down all their photo centers that had ink refills.
I just bought a 3850..Couldn't be more pleased with it..still learning how to use it though, but it is a much better ink jet than the old Canon I had..cost effective, too
The purpose of me purchasing an Epson ecotank printer would be for printing graphics for t-shirts and projects. In the early summer of 2020 when the pandemic hit full swing, I recalled selling at least one Epson ecotank printer at my last job. I don't care who a person is, business owner or no, they are looking to save money.
Good video. I am so happy that I bought my EcoTank. At first I looked at the price and I thought to my self that its way over priced but I bought it because I figured why not see why people like it. I have printed some photos that I took at events and it would have been very expensive to print. I love it and I would recommend getting one to people that I know
EDIT (a year later): Soon after I posted this, my ET-2550 became nothing but a scanner after something in the drive mechanisms broke and throws paper jam errors. It no longer prints. I don't mind throwing away those $70 inkjets after a couple of years, but this and all the leftover ink was a waste. Old comment: My year-old ET-2550 has saved me at least a couple hundred bucks on ink cartridges in that time, even though I only print sporadically. BUT: you must print regularly! It'll clog up and you'll spend 10 minutes testing, cleaning and burning ink if you let it sit around. I guess the same thing can happen with cartridge printers, but I never noticed it as much as this thing. Even a couple of weeks idle seems to clog it. Most busy people might not go that long, but I bet many of us digital people go weeks without needing anything on paper. My solution: I made a habit of printing a weekly calendar and to do list. Handy, and sometimes more effective than even the best to app. And a couple of sheets with some colored text seems to solve the clogging issues without burning as much ink as the cleaning process.
I had read in some reviews a while back that other people had the same problem with the Epson Ecotank. The eco-tank is a great idea but it seems the problem is, the printer itself is still the cheap disposable that Epson and all the printer manufacturers make.
I use a monochrome laser printer that does double-sided printing and have not bought a toner cartridge in years. I never need colour printing. Remember Epson before they got on their ecology bandwagon is a company who simply gouged end-user for ink cartridges just like all the other inkjet printer manufacturers.
45 seconds in and I've already hit Like because you haven't spent 10 minutes telling me "This is what you've been using." and explaining to me what an ink cartridge and printer is and what you channel is and who you......GAHH!!!!
I have had an ET-2600 for nearly 3 years. Best printer I´ve ever owned. OK not quite the colour density of some printers I've had, but then I'm not interested in very high quality photographic prints. It's already saving loads of money in terms of ink!
I gave up on using my inkjet printer years ago. Because I print so infrequently, I’ll print one page, and the ink dries out before the next time I try. That’s about $30 for one page of print. I print at stores now for less than a hundredth of the cost.
Over time, I've learned to use the library printer because of this very reason, I print maybe 10 pages per year. Before I started doing this, it would cost nearly $60 for refill my printer with ink. Though I am tempted with this eco tank printer.
That was exactly my experience! First time, was like what!!! the ink expired!!! LOL I spent $30 on a printer back in the day thinking wow what a sweet deal, only to find the ink would cost almost $60. Only needed black ink for my school papers but the printer required I also have color otherwise it did not printe. Now that is some major BS!!!
After almost 4 years, the tanks on my et 2650 are down by one half. The only problem that I have had, I think was caused by lack of use. It took quite a few purges and nozzle cleaning to get thigs working. But by printing a full page , all color , test page , one a week, I have had no more problems. Now,,, I am curious if I should buy non oem inks to refill the tanks ?
Hey Steve, Thanks for your recent video on this printer. Funny thing just after watching this video I opened our daily paper and our Staples Store had it on for $279.00 and if you brought in your old printer you could get another $30.00 off, so guess what I just finished setting up. You got it the ECO Tank 2760. Thanks again for perfect timing.
I love my epson printer. But i try not to be too cheap cause you can't take the money with you. But i do save a bit. For any encounter that might happen but this printer is the bomb!! And will tell people to buy it!! I have mine for over a year and it still going strong love it
Hi Steve, fantastic video, loads of useful information. I just recently got the EcoTank ET=2850. It seemed to get overall good reviews, the genuine inks were reasonably priced and were larger than some of the other manufacturers of ink tank printers. The maintenance cartridge (which is there to catch ink from when head cleaning takes place) is user replaceable and is very cheap, whereas on some brands of printer it needs to be sent away to get replaced and at a considerable cost too. Whether or not I would need to replace the maintenance cartridge is unsure, but its good to know its user replaceable and very cheap if it does. First impressions are very good. Easy set up as was the ink refilling, really nice sharp text printouts. Briefly tried some graphics printout and I was very impressed also. The scanner seems very good as is the photocopying (both of which I use from time to time). I photocopied the included quick start guide that came with the printer which is in black-and-white and the photocopy I did looked darker and more bold and clear than the original document, which really impressed me. Hopefully this will last me for many years as we are not heavy users.
Finally the ink printer are good again. I will go and buy one for my home office now. Unfortunately the A3 duplex printer are expensive. Hope it last for 5-8 years.
Great review! Do you know of a way to automatically print a test page once a month thus ensuring the inkjets are cleared? In the past, I've had inkjets become plugged (Brother MFC-J6920DW) because I did not use the printer for a couple of months. Also in the past, Epson printers were known for clogging.
I'm a Me Too. I started with an ET-2500, and added an ET-2750. Both were excellent. I printed over 20,000 pages on each before they died. (The menu can print out the stats). The reason they died was because the waste reservoir was full. Now have an ET-3850. It prints better and faster, but more importantly, has an access door to allow replacement of the reservoir. At $14, wonderful! Not to mention user friendly. I expect this printer will outlast the two previous ones. These things are so cheap to operate.
I do around 350 maybe 400 sheets max a year. I need a new printer and have been thinking of the ecotank printers and how much I would save on cartridges. I previously had a normal Epson inkjet printer. Do you think it's worth me buying one with only using that many sheets a year. Also you have ink left over after a year. Has it dried out or got thicker with age at all.
I watched this video about a month ago and was hooked mainly on the fact of being able to re-fill the tanks from the ink bottles. I have always disliked the ink catridge types mainly on the cost and environmental issues. Also I felt that the huge price difference on buy catridges from the printer manufacutrer or from a third party supplier copy did infuriate me. So I began doing more info gathering on the ECO - Tank range from Epson. Not an easy task as there are so many models. Ending up purchasing a virtually new printer from a young guy who had purchased it but no longer needed it. I was cautious and made sure he demonstrated it but it was pristine and printed well - an unused extra set of bottles was thrown in ! I am very pleased with it so far and the quality is okay and the printing speed is far better than my older machine. So thanks for your video - helped me make a good decision. Another thing you may find is that if you do find you need more ink and decide to get ink from one of the many alternative brands you won't get those annoying messages 'we see you are not using ****** ink' do you wisht to continue. As there are no electronic bits on the filler ports/nozzles. I maybe off the mark there but I think that is the case.
Hi Steve. Thank you for your videos. My first printer was a Lexmark. Iv'e had a couple of HP all in one printers since then. Currently, I have a HP Envy. And I just found out a few weeks ago it does double-sided printing. Hallelujah!
how it works with pictures ? can we print at multiple picture formats ? does it have a tray for picture papers? it seems amazing printer Thanks for sharing
Hi, I would like to know whether it is possible to avoid the wifi connection in order to print and use instead a USB cable to connect the printer to the computer? It is very troublesome to enter the very long passeword everytime you change the WIFI
I bought 2760 and I LOVE it. The last printer was Canon, the movie was over when I realize the inc gonna cost me more than the printer itself and I just give away that for free to someone. This EPSON is a charm, just fill the bottle and you are on, and Inc is CHEAP. yep, I paid $300+ US, but it is worth the money when you realize you can fill all the tanks with 20$ with after-market inc if needed.
I have an HP Envy 5660 inkjet printer and just found out about these tank printers. I am considering retiring the 5560 that I bought at the end of April of 2016. I'm trying to figure out which the ET I want. Looks like it's gonna be either the ET 2760. or 2850.
Printers lost my continued ink sales years ago. I used to buy bulk ink in bottles and inject my cartridges as the replacement was very expensive. The past few years I've been using a flexible hose kit that runs from outside my printer that I can fill up the cartridge without opening the printer and I can see the levels. Idea's came from China back in 2008. They have been using this type of system for many years now.
I have an Epson ET-2720. I bought it in March. By June the print heads were clogging up. I went through the cleaning process via their software. It fixed it for a couple of weeks. Then the print heads clogged again. Now I went through several rounds of cleaning including their recommended "Power" cleaning via their software. No ink comes out now. I have repeated the process several times. It is a brick printer-wise, although the scanner still works. I called Epson and it is still under warranty. They said it was a hardware failure. They are sending me a new ET-2720. As they say in the NFL, "the best ability is availability". The idea of eliminating the expensive, proprietary ink cartridges is good but if the printer doesn't print, mileage between refills doesn't really matter. Hopefully the replacement printer reliability will justify the "eco-tank" hype.
Haha got me at I AM CHEAP. Have to agree on the SAVINGS with tank printers. I got my first tank double-sided printer from Brother like 7 years ago. Totally fell in love with tank printers since. Bought my current Epson L655 about 3+years ago (yes SUPER PRICEY at first but so worth all the double-sided printing). Still going strong & looking great! just gotta do lots of cleaning now (the poor thing never went for service) & find me some rollers.Gonna buy another Epson EcoTank, maybe L1110 for the road wheee.
I am curious about the clogging issue. It wasn’t mentioned. The issue is noted in other reviews and the fix to this issue is very involved. It is the only thing that is making me hesitate on what would otherwise be an obvious purchase for a new printer. I just finished watching a video on why ink cartridges cost so much. The video is very detailed. I sure am taking the long way around the barn to get to my question. Would you recommend an Ecotank printer to someone who does not print very often?
So true double sided printing is so important. That's why I got the 2nd lowest model, its only $100 cad more then the cheapest but has double sided and prints a bit faster.

hi steve ,my question is can this printer be used with white toner in order to print on heat transfer paper .if yes this would save me so much money on material and time and the printer itself i could probably live off my home business .
Just bought one, looking forward to trying it out
great review. just bought this printer and to get validation is big. it aint perfect but it it reduces waste and a better footprint. thanks for making this. I watched it all and didnt look away at all. Solid Production
I have seen several videos made by different creators that explain in different ways that are all cumulatively useful. Great job!
Glad it was helpful!
what is the meaning of the red X at the end of your video?
Wow I haven’t seen you for a decade. Use to watch your show all the time. Glad to find this
I really appreciate your review of this item. As a result, I'll be buying a couple for Christmas gifts. I think the convenience and ecology are huge selling points.
Thank You So Much for this review.
Thank you for making it so clear that this will be a good choice.
Hi Steve, I just love your work and I feel so lucky to have found you a couple years ago. Thanks
Epson ET-4750 I bought mine in 2014 and still working fine :) needs attention occasionally ,cleaning the printer heads easy enough to do. what you save in INK! it pays for itself.
loved epson eco tank best best best
I just ordered the Epson 2760 from Costco based on your recommendation. I am excited to receive it. The ink tanks look so much more efficient.
How is the performance?
How is it now im interested
I didn’t know Costco carried them. I going to check them out thank you! Especially now that Costco closed down all their photo centers that had ink refills.
thank you so much! Cosco is a lot cheaper than Amazon!
I just bought a 3850..Couldn't be more pleased with it..still learning how to use it though, but it is a much better ink jet than the old Canon I had..cost effective, too
Thanks, I’ve been thinking about this model.
Glad I could help
I have
It is one of the best printers I ever owned.
I'm officially entering the drawing for the old one! :)
Lol - thanks for the follow up on EcoTank printers, I think this is definitely the way to go.
I print sporadically, do the nozzles dry out if you don't use them regularly ?
does the nozzle plug up if not used for a time ??? my old epson did and there was no fixing it.
I have not had the issue, but we do use it fairly regularly as my wife is a teacher.
Thanks for the video! I'm sold! I love the tank philosophy!
Glad it was helpful!
I've had my Epson ET-2550 for a long time (maybe two or three years) and it's still prints, I use it for my papercrafts and photos.
Good video. I am so happy that I bought my EcoTank. At first I looked at the price and I thought to my self that its way over priced but I bought it because I figured why not see why people like it. I have printed some photos that I took at events and it would have been very expensive to print.
I love it and I would recommend getting one to people that I know
Great to hear I was able to help.😀
What is the meaning of de red X over the image at the end of the video?
I like your energy and personality, keep it up!
Thank you! Will do!
Love your video. I am convinced the Epson Ecotabk is the way to go, especially with the huge savings by not buying ink cartridges all the time.
Great review! Took your advice and just bought an Epson Ecotank printer.
EDIT (a year later):
Soon after I posted this, my ET-2550 became nothing but a scanner after something in the drive mechanisms broke and throws paper jam errors. It no longer prints. I don't mind throwing away those $70 inkjets after a couple of years, but this and all the leftover ink was a waste.
Old comment:
My year-old ET-2550 has saved me at least a couple hundred bucks on ink cartridges in that time, even though I only print sporadically.
For EPSON, it will. For hp, the clogged printing head will be gone with the old catridges.
I had read in some reviews a while back that other people had the same problem with the Epson Ecotank. The eco-tank is a great idea but it seems the problem is, the printer itself is still the cheap disposable that Epson and all the printer manufacturers make.
ok, my epson ecotank just arrived today. excited to get it upstairs and Play! LOL!!
Both Canon and Brother also have there own version of the eco tank. But I have an Epson, had it for 5 or 6 years now, love it and recommend it.
canon is a pain in the ass, too many problems
I use a monochrome laser printer that does double-sided printing and have not bought a toner cartridge in years. I never need colour printing. Remember Epson before they got on their ecology bandwagon is a company who simply gouged end-user for ink cartridges just like all the other inkjet printer manufacturers.
I've been considering grabbing a laserjet printer, what do you have?
I like my basic model for pure home use. I don't need any features beyond cheap refill. works. can recommend
45 seconds in and I've already hit Like because you haven't spent 10 minutes telling me "This is what you've been using." and explaining to me what an ink cartridge and printer is and what you channel is and who you......GAHH!!!!
Thank you!
I have just bought an Epson ecotank and I'll recieve it tomorrow.
This is my issue too, I try to be as paperless as possible so I rarely print anything.
That's why i bought a laser printer (secondhand) .
Over time, I've learned to use the library printer because of this very reason, I print maybe 10 pages per year. Before I started doing this, it would cost nearly $60 for refill my printer with ink. Though I am tempted with this eco tank printer.
Bulk in systems (CISS) inkjet printers are great for your needs in the short/long run.
But by printing a full page , all color , test page , one a week, I have had no more
problems.
Now,,, I am curious if I should buy non oem inks to refill the tanks ?
Thanks for the tip
Hey Steve, Thanks for your recent video on this printer. Funny thing just after watching this video I opened our daily paper and our Staples Store had it on for $279.00 and if you brought in your old printer you could get another $30.00 off, so guess what I just finished setting up. You got it the ECO Tank 2760. Thanks again for perfect timing.
I love my epson printer. But i try not to be too cheap cause you can't take the money with you. But i do save a bit. For any encounter that might happen but this printer is the bomb!! And will tell people to buy it!! I have mine for over a year and it still going strong love it
How about clogging
Do they suffer that when they are not in use for a while
Great Video, I have the Epson ET-2720 and absolutely love it, no issues. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the update review.
Hi. What is the reservoir? And why does it need to be replaced?
Thanks for your long term review it seems to me most tech channels don't do what you do.
Very nice, but does it have multifeed tray?
I do around 350 maybe 400 sheets max a year. I need a new printer and have been thinking of the ecotank printers and how much I would save on cartridges. I previously had a normal Epson inkjet printer. Do you think it's worth me buying one with only using that many sheets a year. Also you have ink left over after a year. Has it dried out or got thicker with age at all.
I watched this video about a month ago and was hooked mainly on the fact of being able to re-fill the tanks from the ink bottles. I have always disliked the ink catridge types mainly on the cost and
environmental issues. Another thing you may find is that if you do find you need more ink and decide to get ink from one of the many alternative
brands you won't get those annoying messages 'we see you are not using ****** ink' do you wisht to continue.
Hallelujah!
I believe I'll try one of these next time. If I can afford it.
Love your informational videos. Thanks so much!
how it works with pictures ? can we print at multiple picture formats ? does it have a tray for picture papers?
it seems amazing printer
Thanks for sharing
It does a good job, but I don't print many. No special tray, you just replace the regular paper with photo stock
Hi, I would like to know whether it is possible to avoid the wifi connection in order to print and use instead a USB cable to connect the printer to the computer? It is very troublesome to enter the very long passeword everytime you change the WIFI
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you dottotech. Very informative. Great to hear you talking 😁...
Great review!!!!!
Hi great info . Can I used this printer with heatfranfer paper . How did you get a free printer
good guy good review. I am using canon g3010 ink tank. Its superb.
Hi, clogging in this printer is just the same as the other printers. A weekly printhead test is enough to prevent it from clogging.

Thank you for your reply.
Thanks Steve
Great video I use a laser jet printer I find it works better then ink and I save more money .
I loved the video great job!
Does the cartridges dry out when not in use?
Great review! We have been looking for a new home printer and Costco has a decent price on the 2760.
Thank you sir, good reccomendation.
My pleasure!
So true double sided printing is so important. That's why I got the 2nd lowest model, its only $100 cad more then the cheapest but has double sided and prints a bit faster.
Have you gotten to the shut down phase when it decides the waste ink area is full?
