Robert Cray does not get the recognition in popular music that he should, but then again, not many true blues artists get the recognition that they deserve. The guy is a top 20 blues artist in the last 50 years, and he might as well be living under a rock for how many people even know him.
Robert Cray is a true singer with a tune voice as James Brown, Stevie W onder , Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, and some others. Now he is also a musician and a guitarist. This guy has it all. i
I first heard this album wandering into Rival Records on a listening booth as an 17yr old kid expecting some '...persuader' or '.. afraid of the dark'. As that was the only stuff I knew at the time, I bought it regardless....anyway 24 odd years later, it's one of my favourite R.C albums.
This is one of my favorite songs. Can't say I'm a huge fan. I might be wrong, but it seems like he has one great song per album. Add them all up, and you got a greatest hits album. I used to play this song to death on my blues radio show back in the nineties. It still feels fresh all these years later.
