I never had a ps4 but i'm sure you are right. I played on def jam icon some time after gta iv was released, back then i had fun times with the game but it wasn't my every day game also.
With all your mortal kombats and street fighter games out there, there needed to be a fighting game specifically designed to showcase the old school fighters.
I said the same thing right before I seen your post. I was thinking like if I hit the lotto i would get them back together to do a port of this game to current systems and a overhaul of animations and everything.
Ive watched kung fu movies since I was about 7 and im in my 40's. Whats interesting about this is I can put their faces and styles together. This is Amazing!

This game ticks all the boxes for me. I'm a huge fan of Shaw Brothers and Golden Harvest so I recognize probably 75% of these character models. As an aside, you haven't lived until you've seen The Crippled Masters, redubbed into Spanish in a crappy theater that smells vaguely of popcorn, cheap weed and spilled beer. Walking to your seat silently hoping that the sticky crap on the floor is only soda.👍

Plus I caught JCVD battling it out against another ol school martial artist Sonny Chiba and as a back up weapon VanDamme wielded a pair of eskrima/kali sticks. The only movie I ever saw VanDamme use kali sticks in was that TimeCop flick. Mann! they even got Sho Kosugi from the signature Ninja films in full effect. I’m loving this game from the jump! Especially when I saw Bruce Lee (jkd) against Jackie Chan drunken style and Donnie Yen as Ip man, wing chun vs. shorinji kenpo girl which looked a lot like that hapkido chick Nora Miao was the glaze icing on the cake with cherries on top! This game is classic! they need to come out with a remastered version on the latest next gen consoles cause this would sell like hotcakes. this is fuckin AWESOMENESS!!

Cool game, as a fan of beat'em up's I must say this is quite original and with all the well known characters, just awesome. I wish they made Bolo a bit better and there could be also bosses in the end too (Tong Po for example or someone from The Quest movie, the Turkey guy). This could be a big hit if it would get proper funding like MK.
Looking like a great start, didn't know it existed and bought the previous 2 games already. Bought this tonight. No block button needed, but having played SvW1 tonight, one thing that really needs work is the issue with supers being able to be punished on hit/knockdown. I can't tell you how many times tonight I've used a super that connected all hits with drunken fist only to take a full attack to the face by my opponent because it takes me just a split second longer to get up and I have to already be blocking. I don't expect this to reach the competitive levels of games like Street Fighter, but I would certainly like to see a little bit more competitive variety. I'm also super interested in seeing alternate versions of characters. We can clearly see that the characters are based on the primary fighting style of specific characters in specific movies. It makes me interested in seeing different characters that use the same fighting style as well as the same character that uses different fighting styles. Lastly, I recently bought the first game on Xbox as it is more accessible to me than playing on steam. On Xbox the game has a few bugs that our game crashing or game breaking. While I am sure that development on the first game is long past, it would be certainly a nice surprise to see some of these bugs fixed.
