      +JustLyn: I know, right? Who *wouldn't* feel utter joy playing ANYthing by JW? Just listening to his Olympic theme he wrote in 1984 gives me chills and happy tears after all these years! And his "Star Wars" and "Superman" themes are, IMO, masterpieces, to say nothing of his music for "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind."

      I agree that they are trained so that they don't visibly show discontent during days they aren't their best, but there is definitely something to be said about the joy of playing music. If you don't truly enjoy playing music, you won't get into the berlin philharmoniker.

    I love how everyone in the comments is giving all the love to the French horns. I’m a French horn player so it makes me feel all warm inside when someone actually appreciates the special sound it gives to any John Williams piece.

      French horns are the real foundation of the regal quality to John Williams pieces. Trumpets are the sparkle, but the French horns are the majesty. From a trumpet player.

      I remember being 9 or 10 and always playing as Indy in my backyard with my grandpa's huge fedora and a toy revolver. Then one day, I came home and on my bed were the iconic whip, the holster, the metal revolver (toy ofc) and of course, the exact bag that Indy wears throughout the franchise. After that day, every time I came home from school, I begged my parents to go to the local park and play as Indiana Jones, running and rolling around the place, shooting at people and wrapping the whip around their foot before pulling them down, and all that stuff...Those were the days.

    What caught my eye was at 0:20 and 0:52 where the trumpet player closest to the camera was using a left side blow technique on his mouthpiece. I have a tighter embouchure in that same spot and can get a much wider range. I wish I had discovered that when I was starting out as a brass player in junior high school before I switched to Baritone and a bigger mouthpiece because I couldn't reach the notes above G consistently.

      Ed Vega but if I can recall Mutt was a fencer, using form 2 makashi is quiet a sight to behold if he had a lightsabre.

      Oh I forgot about that! He liked fencing!
      Spalko: I've been waiting for you, Henry Jones III. We meet again at last. When I left you, you were but the learner. Now *I* am STILL the master!
      Mutt: Only a master of evil, you commie bitch. (clash)
      Spalko: Your powers are weak, young man. You should not have come back.
      Mutt: You can't win, Spalko. If you strike me down, I shall only become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
      Spalko: What do you mean? That you shall be part of some extradimensional force? Be on another plane of existence? Believe me, I've BEEN there and it's no big deal.

    I wouldn't be surprised if orchestras are still playing John Williams' music in 100 years.

    • @jameskielland5018
      @jameskielland5018 Год назад

      Quite likely, I suspect. Because his music is really associated with the most signature films of our times. People who are into film 100 years from now will know of these films if they know of any from our era.

    the is the first movie i've ever seen comped with John Williams music and since then i have always loved his frequent use of the french horn and string instruments with subtle use of bells here and there its very distinct. still the memories bring tears to my eyes. i wish i could be 12 years old again and go on those adventures once more riding trough the desert or crawling trough the jungle or fighting mobsters in Chinatown. those were beautiful experiences...just not the crystal skull..... no.. it doesn't exist...The music was still great nonetheless
