My father's pension account was in a govt bank (Indian Bank). I have to take my mother once in 6 months to sign few documents to ensure that she is still active and in sound mind to receive my father's pension. In the govt bank, there will be lots of people to withdraw or deposit money. They don't know how to write chellan or any automated process like using ATM for cash withdrawal or deposit, getting the passbook printed from the machine etc etc . If you start writing for one person you cannot come out from there. People will completely surround you to write the chellan for withdrawal and deposits. They literally don't know anything. This is the type of customers the govt bank is handling. In private banks, account maintenance charges plus GST will be levied if you don't maintain the balance whereas SBI has zero balance for all the bank accounts opened through Yono.

I m very comfortable with SBI for the past 14 years.. I m using internet banking for the past 9 years.. now mobile banking.. I don't have any issues with SBI. I don't know why they are always mocking SBI

I went 3 or 4 times, but every time they said it is not available. Since then I haven't printed the passbook. The way of treating their customers is very bad, like this, there are many cases. Everyone will give a bad experience with this bank. I'm not saying only SBI is bad. If we are maintaining our accounts online, most of the banks are nice, but when we are going to the branch, the case is different.
HDFC very supportive to customer and most important if you own salary account you can open zero balance account for spouse and mom.. i opened zero balance account for my mom and wife.
Since you have money they will treat good. Just withdraw all and wait for 1 year. Then you feel real heat of HDFC and SBI will be cooler place to have account.
Boss, I went to ICICI bank to open account for my In-laws for their small savings, ICICI asked a deposit of 50K, that too by cheque. If you have to start new account these private banks have lot of rules. Even HDFC asked for the same like ICICI. SBI is good to start then you can shift to others.

Boss, I went to ICICI bank to open account for my In-laws for their small savings, ICICI asked a deposit of 50K, that too by cheque. If you have to start new account these private banks have lot of rules. Even HDFC asked for the same like ICICI. SBI is good to start then you can shift to others.
Compare to other private and public sector banks HDFC is much better in terms of customer service
