Theres something to being a kid again and just going out for the fun of fishing & exploring rather than going for "the BIG one" ! You got me into the UL scene, John, and been using for for bridge fishing little creeks in my area. Keeps this 66 year old feeling like a kid again! :-) Thanks for all your great influence, John!

As a backwoods New Englander fisherman here’s a little advice, when walking thru woods with a fishing pole always have the tip of your rod trailing behind you and hold it at a level position. This way the rod won’t get hung up on a branch or worst breaking the tip off. Thanks for the video and keep a tight line.

This was a "Way Back Machine" vid for those of us who spent out youth with minimal, often primitive, gear and collected grasshoppers on the way to the creek. To this day, panfishing is more fun than all the riggamarole of rigging up a bass boat, towing $$$ and riding the jet ski, houseboat and pontoon wakes. Well done. Don

    Mr. John...🐟
I had to stop in the middle of the video right after you said you had forceps you can't find!
I wrote you several weeks ago with an idea that I always had with me when I fished. Black thin cord from an ice fishing tip up and a small hemostat and a nail clipper... easy to put together! Wear it around your neck whenever you're fishing. Hang it from your rear-view mirror so you see it all the time... I don't think it'll be an obstruction because it's longer...
    Now back to your video...😊

Great video! Seeing you struggle with footing at the end reminded me that some of those sandy creeks have air pockets in the sand and will sink you, I found out the hard way earlier this month filming my small Creek fishing video, I had planned on wading this particular creek but that idea quickly changed after I hit a spot and sunk to my waist in sand and probably would’ve sunk more if I hadn’t found a patch of hard ground in front of me to help pull me out. Luckily the water was ankle deep there, but I had to clean my reel afterwards because I shoved it into the sand trying to get free. Could’ve been ugly.

Ultralight creek fishing is by far my favorite type of fishing. The Crickhopper has been tearing it up for me lately in the creeks. I just got back from vacation and we stayed on a really small lake in eastern Tennessee the trout magnets were killing it. I don’t think that lake gets fished very much the bluegill were monsters and aggressive. The bass seemed to want craws. I caught a few on Texas rigged craws and a few on jigs with a craw trailer.

Catch some bass maybe a sunfish or creek chub. Then out of nowhere you get a muskrat, turtle or 10lb carp off a worm. My 6lb line hated that and im not unhooking a muskrat idc its not worth getting a bite i cut the line. he can take hook out if he wants because he didn't want my help. Turtles are way easier to unhook then mink or muskrat.
