Agreed. I found a fantastic deal on an Athlon Heras 4-20 with a 1 inch tube that's just as bright and clear as my Sightron S-Tac 4-20 with a 30mm tube. Haven't mounted it yet to see if there are any bad limitations, but I doubt it.

Weight is also something to consider when choosing tube diameter.
If you’re setting up a lightweight hunting rifle, a 34mm tube probably isn’t your best option 😂
I just picked up the 30MM tube and I noticed a big difference over the one inch.
30mm is my go to size not too big and plus I’ve got a ton of quality QD mounts already

Gotta say i was one of the idiots who thought the tube diameter meant better light passage. The idea of it makes sense! It never once crossed my mind thats how the tracking moved around was inside the main tube.....The more you know!
The tube diameter also provides a wider Field Of View.
And determines the bulk and weight of the optic. Some people like a scope that makes the rifle a serious struggle to carry comfortably, some go light and sleek.
@@briankopp1369 Talk about stating the obvious. The larger tube diameter may make a scope heavier as a rule with some of scopes though this is not always the case and that the weight is also determined by the amount of glass lenses in the scope, where a FFP will be heavier due to more lenses in comparison to a SFP which have less lenses. There are also IMMERSIVE OPTICS these days which have a 34mm tube yet only weigh 486g. So your statement is flawed and inaccurate.
The front objective size gives you a bigger field of view. Not tube size.
@@djhaack9239 Sorry but that is utter nonsense. Check the HAWKE AIRMAX 30 TOUCH 3-12x32. That scope only has a 32 objective yet the scope field of view is 63.8 feet.
