    Thrash with chord progressions including inversions as riffs ... who would expect it back then. Classic timeless stuff, unparalleled atmosphere.

      Same here, but he grows on you. Try their mid 90s albums, Phobos and Negatron. Thats how they hooked me in. Heavier sound, more industrial, same great dissonant guitarist but a more traditional extreme metal vocalist for that time.

    Bought this in late 80s because I liked the cover art took a while to get into it because it was so unlike anything at the time? Great album, voivoid always stood out from the rest massive respect to them for doing so 👍

      I did the same thing. I bought it because of the cover and an article I read about them. It was the weirdest metal I have ever heard at that time and I was heavily influnced by it as I developed as a guitarist. I still use those weird chords even thou I don;t play metal anymore.

      That riff was the hook for me. Piggy was a master at making those dissonant riffs sound so mechanical yet musical at the same time, and its those same kinda sequences in most of Voivods discography that really capture my attention and i feel their music👌🏼

      You can definitely tell Voivod, Prong, and Meshuggah were all checking each other out in their thrash eras. Sometimes it's hard telling who was influencing who, of if they we're "connected"
