My diesel car gives out puff of white smoke and struggle to start when starting only in cold weather, have checked engine there is no water leaking into oil or anything had almost all seals replaced etc car still gives out puff of white smoke when cold starting... This does not happen in warm weather though.
I have a question, I might considered buying one dually with the dump bed the 93 with mecanical injection, is there some things i have to question before buying one? BTW im from canada too. :)
Check the harmonic balancer for cracks in the rubber. Look for severe blow by, for example, smoking, like a freight train out the oil fill cap when it’s running. Make sure the starter has the support brace on it. Check the Return lines for cracks. Throw a set of 60 G glow plugs in it and send it all the way. Never ever ever use ether on it.
One thing I forgot, if it has the electronic fuel pump on it, keep a spare PMD in the glove box. And also by yourself, the relocation harness for the PMD.

They are notoriously hard starting 6.2 and 6.5 injectors timing and good glow plugs make a large difference. I used to pack spare glow plugs with me because they eat them. And they can be started with eather as long as you know what your doing for years and it won't hurt them. Use to much and it will snap your starter bolts off and eat your glow plugs.
