For those who found the left hand and right hand slightly rotated, In the Retargeter asset, check the chainmapping of left arm, search for Static Rotation Offset, rotate it, I rotate it -30 degress. Same with Right Hand. It works for me
How on Earth does anyone ever actually figure this out, unless you're the UE developer who put it together? Appreciate the video man. I'm currently in the process of exporting quite a few CC4 characters into UE5. This is going to a great guide.
(Edited) This was an amazing tutorial, thank you! As of UE5.4, I had some troubles with the foot IK. It would look like the character was skating across the surface. The problem turned out to be the IK bones. I don't know if this is just an issue with UE5.4, but setting the IK bones to absolute didn't fix the issue. Any retargeted animations basically just had the IK bones for the feet and hands stuck where they were. The (tedious) solution I found was to export the animations to blender, add a bone transform constraint to each of the IK bones to the appropriate hand/foot and then export the animations back to UE5.4. This immediately fixed the issue.
Thanks for putting this all into one video! I've a collection of the different steps from different videos so having it all in one place that I can bookmark is going to save my sanity! I'm assuming the Ctrl Rig can be used in sequencer as well? Nicely done!
It mostly works, except my character's feet are stuck to the ground while running. It looks like he's skiing with no skis, swinging his arms and moving his hips with his kneels slightly bent, just gliding along the ground. Any idea?
Hey, would you consider creating a video on how you go about creating short, anim-blueprint focussed animation-clips in iClone and import it as override animations to an already set-up character in UE5? That would be more than awesome! But thanks anyway, you helped me a ton!
Hey, do you happen to have a copy of the project files that I could use to learn from? Just with the IK rig/ RTG/ and control rig? This is the best video explaining the current way to retarget CC4 to UE5.1 out there from what I can see. Thanks
I keep coming back to this well-produced video, but when using a more realistic character, the animated proportions look wonky (my CC4 character moves around in a slightly bow-legged, arms splayed slightly outward manner). The issue is the spine bone count discrepancy between CC4 and UE5: The CC4 skeleton is still only a match for the 3-spine UE4 rig. It's quite incredible that Reallusion STILL doen't realize that UE5 exists. It explains why people are dropping Reallusion and switching to Metahuman (even though MH characters are not very game-ready or customizable, so it's a dilemma).
I've followed this but I get some weird behavior with the fingers of my character, they seem to bend upwards, or other slightly off angles. No clue what is causing that.

hey mate, using ue5.1 here. Why can't I see the points/bones as a wireframe while inside the IK file? not even for the mannequin, I can't seem to locate the option to view those.
Anyone experiencing weird issues with the CC4 character's left hand where the wrist is off and twists unnaturally? This only happens on the left hand. Most prevalent during aiming animations or animations where the character is holding items. Can't find a fix anywhere. Tried EVERYTHING I could find and NOTHING WORKS. Wish Reallusion would fix this crap. The software was expensive for heaven's sake the least they can do is make sure this stuff works.
First of all, thank you so much for this tutorial! Was exactly what I was looking for! Unfortunately, I have setup a character (size of a dwarf) this way but it seems the retargeting for the feet is not correctly done. Everything is working fine but when the jump animation is played, the legs are messed up: the foot goes up through the leg til the chest. Any idea how to solve this? Any help would be very much appreciated!
Lol I randomly come across a socialist/ communist tutorial channel on UnrealEngine? Sounds GREAT! I would make the intro something more calming. But i like that it is only 5 seconds max. Do u watch stuff from SecondThought, 1Dime, Hakim, Yugopnik or Marxist Paul? If not. Great educational content on RUclips that i recommend. :D

And how to export 'em? DO you know that to use any of them you have to pay for a special license?

Very good sir> watching and searching for 1 week > never found such detailed videos like on your channel> thankiuu alot ❤❤
Thanks man , worked with a imported cc4 to the T ... thanks for the tutoriel ..
For God's sake.. This is exactly what I have been looking for.. Thank you..
This is awesome! I greatly appreciate you posting this!
Thank you for this tutorial. It really helped to make everything to work.
Thanks a lot.. very professional and informative!
thanks a lot ... very useful training ...goodluck and keep going ...

you are a lifesaver really saved lot of time with your method love from turkey
Thanks! You saved me some hours. Very much appreciated.
So because of the pre-painted skin weights, I cant just assign the mannequin skeleton to the skeletal mesh right? It would have minor problems pop up?
What's with the shadow artefacts at 20:26? I'm getting the same issue, thought it was strange
Very nicely explained, very useful 👌👍🤙☺️🙂
You can shift click the ik bones and manipulate multiple values just a heads up

I just realized I asked the same question as you. Did you have any luck finding the issue?
Very Informative series of videos, Thank you. 👍

Great video, thanks. All the same for 5.1 release yes? So you can retarget UE4 rig to UE5 as well so you can use the UE4 animation packs? Thanks
A truly great video thank you

So, if I want to replace the character mesh with an updated one, what do I need to replace? considering that it would be the same skeleton ofc.
You are my lifesaver! Thank you!

You see the buttons in the top viewport? perspective lid character lod? press character go to bones and select all hierarchy.
thanks a lot that was very helpful and clean

Hi, Go to the chain mapping, select all twist bones (legs arms twist bones) and untick the FK option.
amazing dude thanks
thanks , well done !!
cool,😁 thank you!
