Thank you very much Aaron, there are many (sometimes very long) tutorials on Studio One, but you explained everything I needed to know to record myself.
Actually setting up the interface to input from guitar was very simple and straightforward. His explanations are always clear, concise and to the point. Good show. Very exciting. On to the next.
Hey guys can you help me out When i hit record, studio one detects the sound signal from my interface, but i cant hear my guitar at all, no sound is displayed whatsoever. When i click the big record button the green bar does not record anything either, it is just a straight line. Please help
Nice tutorial. When I record audio, say a mono guitar, I find it's giving me 4 separate files of that guitar (Guitar file, L file, R file and L+R file) in the Pool section of Studio One. If I then turn down that track on the mixer, in playback, I can still hear L, R and L+R playing from my pool. Is my I/O set up wrong? I'm having to delete all these things manually to unclutter the sound.
Best video out! Thanks for that mate! Also, just a question, is there a way to insert a backing track audio into studio one? So I can record myself improvising over it?
i love this tutorial but i have a question how do i use it with positive grid spark amp i have prime the problem i’m having is when i record a track and i want to play it back i am not able to listen to it through my laptop i have my head phones plugged in the amp because i live in an apartment so i can’t play very loud also why is there only drum tracks that i have to program one piece at a time i wanted to use an actual drum machine and all i wanted to do is use it to record my ideas awesome video by the way
My other video goes into different methods you can connect your guitar to a computer. I'd watch that first and read the guide on my website to find the best option for you. The short answer is no, I wouldn't recommend using an adapter.
My Yamaha thr10x acts as an interface and I can see it in the set up. Problem is, it plays back through the amp. Almost blew my speakers. Any idea how to set it so my speakers get the playback?
The only way to do that would be to use a different audio driver like ASIO4ALL and select your speakers as the output device. Details are covered in the guide on the website.
Hi, I recently purchased the PreSonus AudioBox USB 96 bundle pack that included Studio One, microphone, headphones, and 2 speakers. I have gotten so far as to record some test vocals, guitar, and a few loops. One of my questions is, instead of listening to playbacks thru the headphones, how do I get the playbacks to play thru the 2 speakers so all can hear? Thanks & have a great day!
You can either plug the speakers directly into the AudioBox or use the driver ASIO4ALL to send the output to your computer's speakers. The guide on my website explains how to do it.
Hey Aaron! Great video I have 2 questions: 1. I saw in your best DAW's article, that you're not recommending Guitar Rig 5 because it's very old, and there are better plugins than it. How's the Guitar Rig 6 that came out now? Is it good to use? 2. I have a very weird problem with my Focusrite Scarlett Solo Audio Interface. I've Plugged my electric guitar into it (INST input), and to computer properly, I've installed the Focusrite drivers. I've configured in my REAPER DAW all the configurations as it should be. (Added track of my guitar input from Focusrite, Armed for recording, and the monitoring is working well, I can hear the guitar from the Input Track in REAPER, including the Guitar Rig FXs) But when I start record, a blank audio track is appearing in all of the recording (no sound waves) and it doesn't recording anything. But the monitoring works great. Can you help me?
1. You can read my thoughts on Guitar Rig 6 in my full review here: guitargearfinder.com/reviews/guitar-rig-6/ 2. That's definitely a weird problem - I haven't seen anything like that before. The first thing I would try is to switch to a different ASIO driver, to rule out any possible issues with that. Use something like ASIO4ALL and see if you get the same blank recordings. If you do, it's likely to be an issue with REAPER. Considering how popular your audio interface is, I would contact REAPER support or ask on their forums to see if anybody else has had a similar issue. If you do figure out the issue, please let me know by commenting here. Good luck!
Aaron Matthies I’ve figured out the problem (Still weird and unsolved)- When I configure the Focusrite sample rate (in Focusrite ASIO Configuration and in REAPER “Request XXX”) if I choose sample rate higher than 48khz it doesn’t work (blank recording) I choosed at first 192khz (Focusrite maximum sample rate), But only if I choose a sample rate up to 48khz (44.1 or 48 for example), I can record.. Do you have an idea?
If it works at 44.1 or 48kHz, I'd just leave it at that. For pretty much most recording situations, 48kHz is perfectly fine and going to a higher sample rate only uses up more disk space and processing power.
I cannot change my buffer size. Its locked at 400 some odd samples and latency is 44ms. complete garbage. I have 5.4.0. So far I am not happy with this thing. Using a PreSonus STUDIO 24c.
@@AaronMatthies so I was able to make a whole song and I saved it to the studio 1 folder and now it's there but it won't let me open it and listen. I try to drag it into the mixer track but it's not letting me. This is soo confusing
Guitar signals are mono, so are you talking about recording the output from stereo guitar pedals or using multiple microphones? Either way, it's the exact same steps involved as covered in the guide on my website under the section "How to Record Multiple Instruments at Once"
Create a stereo track in Studio One and select the two inputs that match the channels from your pedal. The POD GO manual shows diagrams for different recording options. If you have the right drivers installed, it's very straight forward.
impossible to record that guitar with other musical tracks i nthe same song. with pre sonus you can not hear your music and record at the =same time... why preffered it is impossible to hear music and record guitar
You definitely can hear your guitar and record at the same time along with other tracks. I suggest reading the step-by-step guide on my website to find out what the problem might be with your setup.
Aaron, I have no doubt that your explanations are very witty, but, once translated into French by Google, it is totally incomprehensible, I'm sorry because it interests me.

You're very welcome! I make it a goal to have each video as short and to-the-point as possible, so I'm glad you found it useful.
Wow this is the best tutorial of a DAW that I have ever seen. Thank you very much!
I’ve watched quite a few “How to” videos and yours have been the best. You explain things clearly and use very simple terms
Excellent really loving Studio One 5 that came with my new audio interface. Super easy to use for miked guitar amps.
Thank you Aaron, Very helpful bit of information. Much Obliged.

Thanks for your beautiful information..
It is verry yelpful for me .
Cheers from Nepal 🇳🇵
Thank you so much for this important information
Thank you so much. Ive been trying to record for a while, and suck at computers.
Great stuff buddy!!
Thank you for this!
Well done great video
Great tutorial although I cannot hear my guitar yet the sound is definitely recognised in Studio One, any fixes?
I just downloaded this software to try out & see if I want to buy it. This was the perfect tutorial to get me started from square one!
It's definitely worth trying a DAW out before you buy it to get an idea whether it suits you or not. Glad you found the tutorial helpful.
Great teaching! Simple and to the point.
best tutorial of a DAW
Good stuff, this is my first time using a DAW system but you showed me a lot!
This is very helpful.. please post more videos ..
Amazing and informational video! thanks
Very helpful for a Studio One newbie like me, not to bag Reaper in any way, but I’m guessing I probably won’t use it anymore.
Wow! You really helped me out, great video. Very helpful. I cant seem to get my Bias EF2 onto Studio one 5 how do I load it onto there?
no matter what i do i cant hear my guitar at all. can u help

I use GE-200 connected with studio one and I chose ASIO for all driver, I can't change block size, it is automatically set to 512, is that ok?
I have effect guitar Bias FX64 but I can not insert it in Studio One {NO OPTION to insert)
Best video out! Thanks for that mate! Also, just a question, is there a way to insert a backing track audio into studio one? So I can record myself improvising over it?
Sure can. Just drag the audio file into Studio One into any track.

Thank you for your video, very useful, is there any way to detect the tempo of my guitar recorded?
The easiest way is to use a metronome app, tap along with your playing, then it will tell you the tempo.
