So I know they say they would have killed Zach for being annoying, but he A) stuck by his boys when he could have escaped right away, and B) was the only one who gave up no names. Zach truly wins the game.
If they were actual kidnappers with actual guns he gave them no reason to keep him alive though, so if they were to shoot one of the four it definitely would've been Zach, so he wins at being the best bro but loses in the whole not dying part
He wins in that he gave them nothing they could use. They could have tracked down Ariel. Keith told them his dad's name, Eugene gave them his parents' names. Zach kept his mouth shut. He may have died but he didn't put anyone else in danger.
Zach also can also escape handcuffs or tape or something easily and that can be his advantage.

years later, i still love how zach, even while actively being tortured, maintained humor and just kept his head. he refused to escape without others, never snitched, and kept cracking jokes even while (he thought) he was being maced
