I have added this PS upgrade to my Node here in UK, and its a big thankyou to Alvin of Vinshine Audio for this equipment info and the 'how to' install presentation. This kit (with the additional 5V external transformer) absolutely does what you are lead to believe, following the well established maxim of high grade power supplies in audio equipment. So I'm extremely happy with it and the fabulous build quality to the kit also. It's only what you'd expect when Vinshine hang their reputation on it . All Node owners, pay very close attention here, this IS an outstanding sonic upgrade which removes any effects of switching mains power away from the apparatus. The combined external and internal arrangement now provide the Node with an exceptionally clean power source with which to do its important work. Thanks everyone, a great product.
It was a definite improvement in SQ, and it was across the board. Really opened up my little Ares II. Kudos to Alvin!
Where I can buy power supply kit?
I just made the modification with the kit and power supply. It was easy and your video was helpful. There is a significant sound improvement. Similar to upgrading a DAC, instruments sound clearer with better separation and focus. The Node 2i was definitely the main bottleneck in my system so I'm happy this is available at such a reasonable price and it will hold me over for at least a couple more years before I upgrade the streamer.
Glad to hear the PSU kit improve the SQ! I hope more people know about this to fully unleash the potential of Bluesound streamers :)
I just received, today, the upgrade bundle for my N130 NODE and I also think it's well worth the price and immediately heard an upgrade in sound too. I think I'll be satisfied for quite some time before I consider a different streamer. Really, really, really satisfied!
are you using an external DAC?
Yes. Denafrips Ares II now, but will ne upgrading to the Venus II 12th soon
The upgrade in sound will soon wear off. It's amazing what the human mind can imagine.
@@everettspain2739 I am and don't really hear a difference in sound out to my weiss 204 dac.
Interesting modification for the Bluesound Node 2i! 😊. A follow up video would be nice to compare the before and after modification. Hearing is believing the differences exist can convince a lot of audiophiles that the modification is worth the effort. Good job!
Hey Nick, thanks for the feedback. Several friends and customers bought the kit and modified the Node/2/2i. I shall invite them to comment on the sound quality changes, if any :)
Thanks for another great video and fast delivery of denafrips ares 2.Keep up the good work.
Glad you like the video, do subscribe to our channel for more updates. Enjoy the Enyo (formally Ares II) DAC, sir John!
This was a worthwhile upgrade. It did open up the sound, cleaner, better detail, tighter percussion, separation. Yes, I would do this again. Very impressed, I was not a believer, now I am. And it did not break the bank. Well worth it, definite improvement across the board.
On edit: I'm sitting here listening to TuneIn Radio on the Node, it usually sounds ok, now it sounds fantastic. This PS does the job in spades, it is the real deal. Making TuneIn sound good is a feat in itself.
Glad to hear the PSU kit is making a difference in your system. Enjoy the music!
@@VinshineAudio Thank you Alvin! Looking forward to receiving the other power supplies I ordered from you! They should be here Monday!
Did your pc board look like the one in the video. They had a design change but it’s still the same quality unit.
@@stevethetoolman2435 Yes, it looked like the one in the video as near as I can tell. I have since upgraded to the Pi2 Mercury V2 streamer, much better than the Node... Using RoPieeeXL.
@@stevethetoolman2435 That sucks, I would not have expected that from Alvin. I have done quite a bit of business with hime in the past 18 months.
Using as a streamer only. Great purchase, absolutley worth it. Delivered in 4 days from china to usa from beatchnek
same hear, great company.
More of a vinyl guy here, but I do stream tidal a fair bit for variety. I’m a pretty skeptical guy at heart.
This upgrade made a significant and I mean significant upgrade in sound. The biggest difference was in the separation of sound/instruments. I believe clarity and bass was improved as well. I don’t even use these words normally. Lol.
I may now have to upgrade to an external DAC, being more of a vinyl guy I have always shunned the digital side.
Rig:
Primaluna Evo 400 Pre-Amp
Primaluna Evo 400 Power-amp
Dynaudio Evoke 50 Speakers
Node N130

For those interested the turntable is a Project X2 with a project tube Phono pre amp.
All interconnects, power cables and speaker cables homemade.
Cheers 👍👍
I thought this was all snake oil, as I purchased on a whim, what the heck, give it a try. Glad I did, this took the Node to an entirely new level in SQ. Worth every penny in my book.
Thank you for the support, guys! I am glad that the PSU Kit brings positive improvements to your sound system :)
Hi Alvin,I received the power upgrade kit for my bluesound node (n130).Installation went very easily. The clarity and soundstage improved immediately.I have the node feeding an denafrips enyo to a el34 tube amp.the sound is great!is there a burn in required? Thanks for the great products and videos.
I just installed this on a node x and it is a nice kit. The only thing I could suggest, is to make the new 4 wire jumper for the board a bit longer. I barely had enough room to connect it. I wish the the two little board cables made a click sound or something when inserted, but they are more of just a tight pressure fit and you really have to make sure they are inserted firmly. Also, it came with two DC cables and one cable on one end had a yellow tip while the other ends are black and which side do you hook it to on the lhy psu? The + side or - side? I hooked it to the + side of the LHY power supply just because of another comment on here figured it out and posted it on here. Very nice kit overall, but should include some instructions to clear those things up. I received mine very quick after ordering and pretty happy with everything for the money that you spend on this. Seems like a great kit, but can't really say I am hearing an improvement unless I had a factory unit with a modified unit to a/d test them. But...I am also using an external weiss 204 dac, so maybe that is why I can't really hear a big difference. Maybe if you are just using the bluesound as the main dac , there is a bigger improvement. Thanks for a quality product and fast shipping, seems like a great company.
Thanks....adding the LPS cleaned up the sound a lot...instalation was a breeze. I had one issue. I'm not electricity smart. 2 seperate DC cables came with kit plus the AC cord. Both single ended. The back of PS unit there is 2 connector slots. One is + and the other is -. On the node there is a single connector slot. That confused me in my lack of knowledge. I tried to find an answer to how to connect. I was unable to. I took a chance and used the + side to connect to node. Worked and sounds great so I guess I'm good to go.
You're good to go sir! Thank you for your support!

same here, confused me and they should mention this in the video and send some instructions on this exact issue for us newbies. I followed your way and it works fine, so thanks for posting.
I just installed this easy-peasy modification to my Node 130. I did it because, although I use the Node only as a streamer, feeding a Pontus II 6 feet away, I've noticed a perceptible difference between connecting with coax vs optical, where optical is clearly superior. This is most likely because my media cabinet is full of wires and power cords, having completely separate TV and music sound systems, and interference from this mess may, perhaps, pollute the coax signal. Who knows? In any case, if electrical interference can possibly pollute the coax signal, perhaps swapping out the switch-mode ps for an electrically cleaner solution on the device creating the signal may be worthwhile.
So apparently LHY has changed the capacitors to a different brand and value. But that’s all they changed. They still have superior design. Multi row tuned capacitor system similar to Denifrips. 35 total capacitors. A smoothing circuit. They use Japanese capacitors superior to other brands. Easy to install. It sounds great. I’ll put off buying a external dac now. It sounds that good!
Hello Steve! I wanted to express my gratitude for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback. We have sent you an email to offer our assistance and help you out. Thank you again for reaching out to us!
Very well explained & very nice ! May I ask, at 24:45, the external lps should be 25w or 35w ?
Thank you.
Thank you! Glad you like the video. We recommend LPS25VA, a 25W LPS for the BS Node/2i PSU kit.
@@VinshineAudio Thank you very much!
@@VinshineAudio I have the LPS-25VA, but it's a 12 volt, should I get a 5 volt?
i did the same mod except i used the one from the guy in poland. it is definetly worth doing, but i had just as big a gain with making a custom 5 volt power cord going from the lps to the node. made it out of dh labs silver plated bl-1. big improvement over the stock 5 volt cable and cheap to do.
Thanks for sharing, Ron! Every little details matter in audio!
really interesting 😀😊can you explain how you did it? I am not at all a techniciant🥹
Just to be clear, I'm thinking about how did you make the cable?
Hi Alvin, I’m looking at the kit for my NODE, which is hooked USB to my Ares II. I'm trying to understand if this is a worthwhile upgrade while using my external ARES II DAC?
Thanks,
Tom
I just ordered this kit, looking forward to it.
interested but if i am using the optical out, will this power upgrade make any signficant difference? i am assuming optical signal would be less effected by the quality of the power feeding into the Node.
Interested as well in the answer.
Hi Ericho, and did you make the jump? I’m so curious what it brought you in sound. Especially the connection with optical. Please let me know if you made the upgrade 😊
Thanks in advance
It would be nice if you could hand it over to someone who could somehow explain the actual souund differences.
Thank you, Jose. Several customers bought the kit and installed them. I shall invite them to comment on the sound quality differences, if any :)
Do you mean a 5Vdc supply or a 5W supply?
Is this upgrade worth it if I'm only using the Node N130 as a streamer?
I've read a lot of reviews of people using it as a streamer/external dac with great success. I ordered one for this purpose
Edit: I now have it on my node, absolutely worth it using only as streamer
Is there a power supply upgrade kit for the Blue sound Node X?
The n130 and node x upgrade kits are listed on their website within the same drop-down option, they are identical.
Hi Alvin, would really like your feedback if an upgrade from the Node (130) to the Ares II with optical connections would have the result of upgrade as well.
Thank you in advance.
I have the Ares II and the (N130) Node, just did the power supply upgrade. The Ares II really opened up, did not expect it, but it did. If you do not own the ares II, I would recommend it, and this Node PS mod. As far as optical, not a fan. The coaxial connection sounds very good, as does the USB. What is your system like, what gear do you own, speakers?
@@michaelwright1602 thanks for your comment. As far as coax and toslink. I recently did a blind test with 10 songs. 8 times the toslink won and 2 times a draw (for my ears). Regarding the rest of my setup. A Linn Intek integrated amp. And Linn Nexus loudspeakers.
@@olaf9938 If your integrated amp can except an external DAC, I would give the Ares II a shot. It is a different sound, very analog sounding, like listening to a vinyl record. It will definitely sound different than the Node or Linn internal DAC.
@@michaelwright1602 Have the Ares II already more than a year. Love it
@@olaf9938 What are you looking to do? I guess I misunderstood.
How much is it?
Sorry link please
which power supply? the LHY 25va or 50va for the node n130?
If you do not use USB driver with the Node, LPS25VA will do!
@@VinshineAudiojust coax, optical and usb out to a Weiss 204 dac. The 25va should be fine?
