Bellissimo il video e bravissima Maarit
Thank you 😊
Pleasing to the eyes and thanks for showing the process👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your work... And your videos are really very well done. Not only well presented but, unlike many of the videos one sees, you managed to use music that isn't distracting or downright annoying. I just got a press and your video confirmed that I was basically on the right track on how to use it. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind compliment, George! Very nice to hear that you enjoyed watching the video. One thing I'd like to mention about the press is that since the filming of this video, I've started using long, thin strips of lino, taped along both long edges of the press plate. They help to keep the pressure more even across the entire block.
Taking a linocut print making class tomorrow thanks for video so inspiring and enjoyable to watch the process!!!
When is the next one coming ? I miss the videos and the inspiration!
Btw without you i couldnt have discovered printmaking! Thank you!
That's so nice to hear! We hope to start filming the next one this month 🤞

Great Video! the grinder (1:08) is FLEXYCUT SLIPSTROP... Greetings from germany Heykoo
Another excellent video. Love watching you carve the Lino. The music is very relaxing too. Can you add what it is? Thanks.
lizprint2011 thanks so much! I totally agree about the music! It's from an artist called Cambo. There's a link to his music in the description of this video ;)
Can you give more detail on how you transfer your images to the block? thanks for detailed videos!
Use a soft pencil on your drawing. Lay the paper on the linoleum upside down and give it a good rub to transfer the graphite. This way if you use words they will be mirrored on the linoleum.
This comes a bit late, but I have another video about the transfer technique: ruclips.net/video/9ikxEByRHI4/видео.html
Beautiful work! Thanks so much for sharing the process.
Lino cutter here too! love your stuff!

Your Videos are really great and full of work, but it looks so cool, when you filmed the Materials and how the Time goes by. Your pictures are valueable and your linol -cut ohne more. Thank you for sharing and Inspiration.😀👌
Thank you for sharing your tricks of your trade :) clean work... would you have the link to the etching press? Im ready for a new one!
This was a very calm & peaceful video. An has really encouraged me to buy more printmaking supplies to practice linocut more. :) I'm going to subscribe.
That's so nice to hear! Thank you :)
lazymusician10 where can one buy the tools to sharp the cutting tool .? Dionvantilburg@home.nl
Can you make a speaking video on technique? There's so many sham linocut artists on RUclips that have no skill (just random scratches on the board) and who think way too highly of themselves (I don't mean that to discourage beginners, but they present themselves as experts). Or you see very simple elementary level videos about carving out a very simple flower and inking it with not much thought. Although you can find some if you're really searching, real linocut artists like yourself are much rarer on RUclips. It'd be nice to have a video(s) talking about how you go about shading, different patterns, techniques you use, things to consider, negative vs positive prints, etc.... Love your videos
Thanks for the suggestion Rain. I'm not really into making tutorials (or talking on camera). I just like to share my process, but I always try to do it in a self explanatory manner. Hope they'll be of some help. If I ever end up going deeper into the topic, I'll make sure to write a newsletter about it. You can subscribe to it at www.maarithanninen.com.
I love it. Please make more videos
JuYumiko thank you! New video coming out on Monday 😉

I love this video :-)
Thank you so much 😊
Enjoyed watching the video.....I have a query.....what is to be done with the cut linoleum sheet after the prints have been taken? Can that be framed as well???
I've never done it myself but I don't see why not!
@@MaaritHanninen thanks!!! :-)
beautiful!!
Wow, just wow!
Hi, I am interest to know better how to transpose the photocopy (?) of your drawing/image onto the lino. Do you use any medium or just water? The white you cover the lino is it just acrilic mixed with water? Thanks
Thanks for sharing.
amazing
Beautiful work! I like your press, what make is it? The press I have is a Morgan Lino-Scribe that I picked up at a yard sale for $20.

Aw, thank you Gabie! I most certainly will :)
Very cool!
Mesmerising! Great work 💕
Great work, love your video! I used half inch thick woodblock, would that be work on that press? And what's the size of your plate?
Tae-An thank you! I haven't tried woodblock with this press, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I can't remember the exact measurement of the plate, but it's probably around 21x30cm.
This is amazing and she has got great talent and skill. I have to ask though, why not sell the linoleum? I don't understand why someone would print this way instead of just printing using a modern printer. I mean if the end product will end up on paper anyway? So why this way if you don't mind me asking?
Selling the Linoleum itself would make it impossible to reproduce the work as a print. Each print is individual and unique (when done in this manner) which in turn makes them more valuable. Printers print in a series, they'll usually write which ones were good enough to make the cut at the bottom of the print itself. (So print 1/5, 2/5, 3/5 etc.) Modern screen printers are also wicked expensive so a lot of artist opt for this method for $$ purposes.
Wonderful work! What pen/pencil did you use while cutting the Lino that washed off? Thank you.
It was just some random marker from Stabilo I think.
Thanks. Again, beautiful.
