You, sir, are a gift to humanity. Just so you know, if you see that this video has 20,000 views by tomorrow, it's just me watching your right foot.... Truly an inspiration.
Hey, David!!!! This is your number ONE FAN, Chuck, from Sacramento, Ca. Davey, me Mate, you really warmed my heart with this one. This was my sister's best, most favorite of all times, song. My sister is no longer with us, but how I wish she could be here to hear you play 'HER" song. She was the type that would have run up and given you a great big hug for playing here song for her, and doing it so well. Thank you David. I just know she is sitting on a cloud somewhere listening to you.
Dave Your tone is amazing. The Justice sounds Fantastic. Your playing has me wanting to learn psg, so I went on the forum and bought a 70's MSA U12 now the long journy begins.Heck of a time to learn a new instrument at the ripe young age of 59. You have inspred me.
an hour well spent messing with the telonics. sounds even better than when you first put it on! sounds cleaner and warmer. cant wait for more great songs from you and the new Justice.
Thanks for uploading this song Dave.. It's one of my favourite Country tunes.. Sounds really fantastic on a Steel Guitar,.. You certainly know how to make yours sing! :)
Very CLEAN sound Dave, Really nice my friend. I spent 29 years in the clubs and I wish I had the chance to play with you. You a true PRO brother! herb, From El Paso Tx :) When I was stationed in Germany I had a Country band,1980-83. Well SOMEONE bought a Steel guitar and each one of us took turns TRYING to learn to play the thing, I gave up after 2 weeks LOL I am self taught on lead guitar but had ZERO ability on that Steel.hahahahahaha so did everyone else. OH WE WERE BAD!!! :)
Time well spent David ! Sounds more like the true steel sound we're used to hearing from you.Nice ride on a pretty tune. Thanks for all your efforts, they are truly appreciated (.Knew you'd get the best of that bugger! lol ) Roy in Nova Scotia.
Thank you Mr. Hartley. I've learned a lot from watching you. I may not be as smooth as you but I can do the runs. I wish I could get a tab book of your fast picking licks.
Absolutely brilliant performance David! I've been absent from You Tube awhile, and I can recall asking if you could play this song for me awhile back.. But you said that you hadn't learned to play this song back then.. Have a great weekend my friend, and I will call by again very soon.. :)
Dave, I just love the tone you are getting on strings 6 - 10. Just so clean and no over-ring. That new pick has made a world of difference on that guitar. Before you put on the 409 it did not sound very good at all, but now it's the sound I would love to have, too.!
I love the sound of a steel guitar, but it sounds best with other instruments. I notice that a steel don't always pick each note, so it is complimentary to other instruments. A few years back, I made comment to a steel player, (I think it was you), about a 'singing steel' , where a voice over the steel, made it sound as if the steel was actually singing! A country star, many years ago did this. (??)
I've been using their VP for quite some time, now. Great pedal. But, now you have me interested in the Telonics Pickup...... Lovely tone on that Justin.... It sounds like you are impressed with the difference in tone compared to the previous pickup. In your opinion, what is it the stood out for you?
Pretty S M O O T H Nice sounding Guitar and Pickup.. :) .. We recently picked up a Petersen Tuner that has a DI IN-and-OUT in it.. I don't have it in front of me.. I don't recall the model.. It retails at 199.00 CDN.. plus taxes.. It has pre-sets for E 9th... and C 6th tunings and other pre-sets, as well.. Takes a 9 volt battery or a power supply.. all in a floor Stomp Box..
Many years ago, & I'm talking mid '70s, an American guy released an album titled (from memory) 'Steel Away, the Talking Guitar'. Most definitely that guitar sounded if it was talking. How he did it I have no idea. The album has long since died. I have to admit that going through a salt water flood certainly didn't help its longevity any :-).
Here's something to think about. The bottom of the strings come across the same height, above the pickup, across all 10 strings. No need for height adjustment of the poles on the pickup. Just adjust your amp.
I play an MCI steel and all I can do is raise or lower one diff or the other. The pickup's poles are all in one piece. Not smart enough too change it. I would mess it up plus just can't afford it.

you might be talking about Pete Drake. there is a clip on youtube that i think was taken from the movie "Playing Second Fiddle to a Steel Guitar"
WAAAAAAW Great
Great sound of the pup and steel and the man himself.
Is it possible to hear it thru the cabinet with a Mic?
Your friend
Kjell Helde
Mike Verdetto..... I love both... They are very similar...
Interesting. cheers. And the name 'Pete Drake' rings bells but faintly.
Is it possible to see the Hz on the Strobo Plus HD

looks like you have the same sennheser as i do
What tuning are you using
That (talking guitar gimmick) was a short- lived novelty. Otherwise a decent steel player but not
David Hartley calibre.
Thanks for the reply
Roy W.
Hook'em Horns!!! Or at least that's what your steel playing's trying to say!!!
hi dave your looking good will you play me a song ,thanks...
Google Pete Drake (talking steel guitar)
Not bad, but not the same without Stannard.
Play that Steel son and don´t fergit to push those pedals !
