Im so happy i didn't buy the bluray. I waited 2 years before this was announced.
Thanks for the review Adam. I absolutely love this movie. I think certain parts of this movie are very funny. Can't wait till mine comes in.
so is the theatrical cut the only one on 4k, or does it also have the extended cut also on 4k
Is the bluray disc a reprint or new print
How do you always get your discs so early??
I usually don’t.
As far as 4k goes, it does sound like this is more of a disappointment than anything. Like, yes, it has a touch of additional detail, wider color gamut and presumably good HDR, but nothing rave-worthy, which for this particular film, is a bit of a shame.
That said, I preordered and I'm sure I'll enjoy my next viewing.
"While an Atmos mix could have enhanced the audio cues pretty well". Just because something is in Atmos does not mean it is better by proxy. Some of the best movie scores available are DTS 5.1 Master Audio. I think we need to back off a bit on lamenting any movies that could have used Atmos but didn't. Atmos adds a lot of time and expense to a 4K release as well with the coding and licensing expense. There are times when it is a home run, but most of the time it is an unnecessary expense and process.
I agree, but their are excellent opportunities in the film for great height output. The “core” of the track is already solid, but heights could have elevated it further.
While it's true that not every Atmos mix does the best with what it's got, that doesn't mean we can't complain that *they didn't try* on that front -- To have any film be more immersive is something to look forward to.
If they want us to double dip, they should put in the effort to add new things. I already have this soundtrack on Blu Ray.
