    Fun fact about the holster. You can actually run a belt through the top diagonal slots of the holster to turn the drop leg into a waist holster. I’ve been having good experiences with using it that way at my local games over using it as a drop leg holster.
    edit: also regarding the mag release. In my experience with the blaster I actually found the easiest way to hit it was to reach around with my trigger finger. Not the most standard way to do so, but it worked for me through the FPT. Mag release seems to be the one universal complaint everyone has about this blaster.
    edit2: another thing, though you can load 7 darts in each magazine I wouldn’t recomend it. That’s because thanks to the feed lips you can actually swap out the mags without priming the blaster backwards and hot swap mags. However if you do this while 7 darts are loaded in the new mag they can get crushed. I’d probably consider it a 6+1 capacity blaster instead of a 6 or 7.

    I'm a big fan of the mk2.1. i loved the mk2 a lot as well but the ease of swapping mags when still being able to top it up on the fly makes the 2.1 leagues better. having a dart in the chamber when swapping out a mag has also saved me in the past, something that's impossible with the mk2. it really ensures that there's never a situation in which your opponent can safely rush you. it's definitely a pocket primary though as opposed to a dedicated secondary. the holster kind of sucks and the size of it makes it a little strange to carry on the hip.

    Luke, do you like this or the Fire Rat better personally? I know this hits harder which could be a good thing or a bad thing. Not considering the price though, which do you prefer?

    • @outofdarts
      @outofdarts  2 года назад +5

      They're almost two different categories of blaster. The Mk-2.1 is a better close quarters primary, but I would prefer the more compact Fire Rat as a secondary.

    • @paullassahn9296
      @paullassahn9296 2 года назад +1

      Love the firerat! It hits harder with the extended barrel & upgraded spring + with the extended barrel i put an orange bcar on it for safety & much better accuracy. You have more capacity per mag & can even take 15rd nightingale mags with a slight mod. Firerat is definitely a more capable primary

    • @Stevenwave-
      @Stevenwave- 2 года назад +3

      The Fire Rat's are actually available here in Aus, but I really struggle with the design. It just looks way too realistic for me. I know the colours do the heavy lifting, but still. I thought similar about the Mk-2 and like that the 2.1 has gone more sci-fi.

    I think I still would want to run the mk 2 as a primary. The biggest difference, for me, is the performance. It seems the mk 2.1 only hits around 10 FPS higher, and it's much bigger. I'm fine having an internal mag with speed loaders if I get a much smaller blaster.

  • @Thesnakerox

    How the naming scheme seems to work so far, in case you were confused:
    When a DZP blaster is named Mk X.Y, the X value indicates the type of blaster, and the Y value indicates the design iteration. An X value of 1 is for primary-class pump action springers with an AR-type form factor, 2 is for secondary-class pistols, and 3 is for primary-class flywheelers. The Y value's count starts at 0 rather than 1, so that's why the Mk 2.0 is the first Mk 2.Y blaster, and this second blaster is the Mk 2.1.
    With all this in mind, I wonder if Dart Zone would ever make a Pro Mk 4 in the future, and what type of blaster that would be...

    • @outofdarts
      @outofdarts  Год назад

      It depends on what games you're attending, and what you want to use it for. The Mk-2 is great as a secondary, where you leave it primed on your hip ready in case your primary jams for any reason. The 2.1 is better as a compact springer primary for close-quarters battles, where that is one of the blasters you use and nothing else.

    If they make this internal with the moving plunger tube and magazine lips for a platform like the nexus pro, that thing will be a beast. The plunger tube will be bigger since it goes all the way to the dart gate and you can insert the magazine without pulling the priming handle back.

    • @Stevenwave-
      @Stevenwave- 2 года назад

      It has to travel back and forth though. Say the plunger tube's 4" long, and moves forward 1", you don't really get more tube. Because then it has to be able to go back that 1" and fit in the rear again.
      The main advantage is minimising dead space I'd guess.

    I do like it, but ultimately the proprietary mags are a deal-breaker for me. Or, at the least, they are for now... Since I wouldn't run it as a primary in the games I play in I'd generally be carrying another mag-fed blaster as well; and while it's doable, carrying two magazine types just sounds like a recipe for many minor frustrations. My stance could certainly change if more blasters come out that use these mags, though, and everything in my kit used them.

    have this blaster and for my first mag-in grip blaster it was a nice start. in regards to the mage release I am used to airsoft side arms like the mk23 which have a similar grip. My personal solution has always been to rotate the blaster into my thumb to release since my hand is already there.

    Mag Release Miss
    I feel like, trying to replicate a real pistol button mag release was a mistake here. Due to the larger grip (darts are bigger than bullets) a button release is not as practical . Your Thumb can't reach it as you would on a firearm.
    In fact for the 2.1 if you hold it wrong handed, you can reach the mag release easily with your index finger. So I'm thinking a good solution would have been to reverse the button to the right side. Tell people to index finger it. -this abandons the firearm 'manual of arms', but would work better for this situation.
    And even better fix would be to do a 'euro' style paddle mag release (lever at the base of trigger guard). Those you're meant to hit with index finger, fixing the reach issues. and are ambidextrous....

    I've been on the fence about this one, but I'm probably going to take the plunge. If I were playing a pistols only round, this is what I would choose, but as part of a loadout, I can't see it replacing my 2.0. Very different use cases, it really should have been called the Mark 4.0.
