    I allso follow Ron Pratt and have asked several times WHAT powers the rotation of the boom is it an electric motor or is it Hydraulic can you please show us nontechnical guys how the boom pivots and how its anchored to the truck chassis . Thankyou .

      ruclips.net/video/FqOUejbG4jg/видео.html Explains rotators decently, Seems they are a little out of touch with the towing world which is why they titled it "large tow trucks how its made" and didn't specify its a rotator as oppose to a normal wrecker, but it does show the process of how it's all built and explains a little bit.

      It’s the same turret bearing as an excavator but on a smaller scale, it’s a large heavy duty bearing with a hydraulic gear drive in the center

    I’ve been watching multi-videos of heavy duty recovery for maybe four years. Most notably. The awesome Ron Pratt out of Scott city Missouri. But I’ve also watched some others. Which some of their jobs seem to be a little bit questionable.
    One guy used both blue and white cables and put the hooks together with a snatch block on one of the lines. He was also using endless loop on the end of the snatch block. As he was picking up a heavy coil like you were doing in this video. Your technique seems to be a lot safer than the other guys technique.

    • @towtruckaj
      @towtruckaj 4 года назад +1

      Wait he what? Put both lines in the same snatch block or? And how did he place the endless loop?

    • @scottbecker3563

      @@towtruckaj Pretty much as I stated. He put the blue & white hooks together with a snatch block on one of the lines. He was also using an endless loop on the snatch block. He put one end of the endless loop on the snatch than ran the endless loop through the coil He than put the other end of the endless loop on that same snatch block.. To me that didn't seam to be very safe. Also too by doing it that way it didn't seem he would have much adjustment or control of placing the coil where it needs to be on the truck. On THIS video they are using both lines indepently of one another. They can adjust the angle of the coil more evenly..

      Thats called marrying the lines that coil weighed i think 15k well below WLL,these guys coil weighs 35k,so they had to 4 part line it cuz with the lines married they would still be under WLL
