You did a great job describing this watch. I bought this exact watch in November of last year and I have found myself wearing it in so many different situations and with a multitude of outfits and it always works. My favorite experience with this watch is to wear it on a sunny day and watch the sun illuminate the gorgeous blue dial.
My XVIII heritage is drilled to my wrist since I got it. Hater's always gonna hate but for me, it's just about perfect, no Hamilton or Stowa has even 10% of the sheer class this watch exsudes.
I have a 36mm version of this watch. I purchased this watch from an AD Boutique, and really am enjoying this watch, back in 2002, I wore a Rolex for a long time and saw this watch, but was hesitant to buy it because it looked too big on my wrist. I saw the same watch in 36mm and went to the IWC boutique, they had one in blue I liked it and bought it
Got this one...great watch and the blue is amazing, it´s got the X-factor......I was so afraid it would be too big on my 17,8 cm wrist (56 mm wrist span) and I normaly prefer smaller classic watches.....but it´s really fine, it doesn´t even look big, probably because it wears flat and the lugs curve down.......and the date window, I love where it´s positioned, it´s just perfect, it should not be moved further away from the center as so many comment, this way it stands subtle on it´s own....it´s perfect!.......great review by the way, I really like how you do your reviews!
I like your 5 points for selecting a watch. This is a beautiful watch. This IWC design speaks to me. Every time I see it on display, I always look at it more than twice.
I have this watch and I love it! Great vid mate! Some ppl may be screaming about swimming with 60m, but it has a screw-down crown and the IWC website says you can swim with that rating (at least for their watches)
My watch is Portuguese chronograph, I will say my watch like Benz CLA, Portuguese 7days like C class, annual calendar like E class, Perpetual like S class. They both good watches but clearly see the finish and material different between each class. If you want to buy an IWC as only watch, just go for it. They worth the money. Plus IWC only using real in-house movement in their 10K Plus range.
There's a new Mark XX that just came out! I've never considered IWC before (waiting for 36mm DateJust or I may get an Omega Globemaster/ Railmaster), but I'm really curious about this brand now
@@Valera_Scotland I currently own a mark 18, it's my favourite watch. I've owned Rolex in the past, great watches but I find it's very common and doesn't have that exclusivity like iwc. @@Valera_Scotland I've got a 6.5 inch wrist and it wears well, you definitely won't have any issues with size or fit. I also have a Hamilton, unfortunately it never gets any wrist time because I wear the iwc all the time. The mark xx will wear smaller due to shorter lugs. The iwc is special indeed, it gets better with time, it's a simple design but the case, polishing, etc make it look very classy at the same time. I'd recommend you try it on and see it in the metal.
Really wanting and starting to think this is what I want. Got a chance to try it on a few months back, it’s big but fits. That is the part that threw me a bit, not sure how I felt on it back then, but feeling this watch a lot now.
Hey there the watch was purchased on the strap then sourced the bracelet from the AD. You can choose with or without the polish at the ad 👍 Thanks for watching Chris!
The ETA movement is a proven workhorse. Most brands use to place modified ETA movements in their watches before the in-house movement trend. It's probably more accurate than a Rolex. Yes I said it. In all fairness MOST Swiss movements ETA/In-House are almost equally as accurate as they can be. Accuracy varies by seconds given the watch is used as it's design intended. Reliability and consistency is proven with a high grade ETA. Sure an ETA is a generic basic movement but it does work. Yes it's not decorated but it doesn't matter on a closed case back. Yes the power reserve is only 42 hrs (really 48) but with an automatic movement. Power reserve doesn't matter if you wear it every other day. It's anti-magnetic so issues with magnetism will not throw accuracy off like a Speedmaster or most older Rolex watches. I agree the price is a little too much (because the movement that you can buy for $600 if your a watchmaker) but it's a luxury brand. IWC does decorate and added more shock protection to it. Stealth wealth, no nonsense, legible everyday watch. I would buy grey market $3500 Jomashop or find pre-owned on E-bay/Chrono24 for as low as $3200 - $4000. I wouldn't pay more than $4000. You can probably get a discount at an AD for the retail price $3950 plus tax.
@@Milofchg I agree. But calling this a ETA movement is like calling a AMG a regular mercedes. It is so modified it bears little resemblance to a ETA movement. Other than the base plate most if not all the parts are IWC parts.
Couple things - you can probably buff out any micro scratches with the AR coating on the crystal. And I wouldn't swim with 60 meters water resistance. It's ok to get a bit wet with washing your hands/rain or ok if you get accidentally pushed in a pool - but don't swim with it.
Thanks. Yeah, not the micro scratches is not a deal breaker, i kind of like the nlue tint from the ar coating. I would definitely get a pressure test before hand but iwc indicate that swimming and light snorkling is fine.
