I noticed those changes as a teen but boiled it down to me being very good. I've seen all these animations but didn't account for this cool fact of style affecting the animation I'm seeing. As a triple s rank veteran of old school dmc it's cool to see shit I didn't know about
This is actually such a neat mechanic and the idea of the style rank enhancing a character's moveset the higher it is is both cool and also something that it feels like the series would have expanded upon more (but didn't) Thank you for showcasing it!
There's actually an even more obscure mechanic being shown here: When Dante reaches S rank and above, not only are his crazy combos extended, but all of his melee attacks become 5% faster. This multiplier sadly doesn't stack with Devil Trigger, and has no effect on guns (just like DT). Yes, this is real. I think it took over a decade to be discovered and you can see it in the video if you slow it down. It's most obvious if you compare Real Impact with Acid Rain.
I guess it has become more noticable because of the new monitors/screens that we have now that has a higher resolution and faster refresh rates. Back then we're basically stuck with inferior technology. Even I assumed that the faster movement of dante at higher combo style was because of me mashing the buttons faster due to adrenaline.
Wow that is such a brilliant touch. Any idea if that’s also present in 4 and 5? I wish they would have built up on that kind of mechanic in those instalments. Would be cool if you gained like 2% attack and movement speed with every style rank.
Glad someone finally did a video on this cause not many people know about SSS actually effecting your moves also tempest does kinda get effected with SSS if you do the "Ultimate tempest " glitch where you buffer the crazy combo and then mash the attack button not the swordmaster button this will make tempest stay out for way longer periods depending on style
@@Tvoy_Action I was under the same belief as well. It always lasted longer when hitting an enemy compared to when hitting the air, but whenever I hit an enemy with it the Style would always reach SSS so I just assumed that it worked the same way with the Style rank like the rest of these. Thanks for clearing this up.
I just watched a 'retrospective' claiming that Quadruple-S was the "only time in the (DMC) franchise where your style ranking directly affects your combat options." Quad-S _only_ works alongside SDT, but here we've got a showcase of how the style system mattered in a game that came out *_over fourteen years before Quad-S was a thing._*

Damn, i knew that sometimes combos would last longer mainly with Rebellion, Beowulf and A&R because those are the weapons i like and use the most, just never noticed it was related to Style. DMC 3 never ceases to amaze me with its hidden mechanics.
Also if u use million slash(A&R), the more enemy you can hit at once, it would be more long the combo will happens. I remember doing million slash at SSS style and on 5 enemies, the combo really" took so long dude, and i amaze with that
@@ichanoxyde7720 yeah, i used to think that it was related to the number of enemies. I think the maximum amount of enemies i managed to hit with it were 3, it lasted for a long time.
Fun fact about this, the higher style rating actually doesn't change the combo itself, it just essentially makes it so you need to mash buttons less in order to get the higher combo. I found that out when I messed around with turbo controllers back in the day, if you activate the turbo function you can still get the higher combo even in D-style rank, you would just ned to mash the button faster than humanenly possible.
along with the style meter increasing the duration of moves, if youre in Dante's regular outfit, when you go into DT you'll get different properties based on what weapon you have equipped. off the top of my head I remember that Cerberus made you move/attack faster and Beowulf gave you a defensive boost
you don't need the regular outfit, but yes this is true. Rebellion's DT bonus is slow falling (Lockon+Jump), Cerberus DT bonus is running speed and attack speed increase, Agni & Rudra DT bonus is extra elemental damage, Nevan DT bonus is faster passive healing via Devil Trigger, and Beowulf's DT bonus is super armor and reduced damage
Also certain weapons do bonus damage to bosses. Nevan for example is very weak to Cerberus, as are Agni and Rudra. Cerberus takes bonus damage from Agni and Rudra, and if you’re playing as Vergil, Yamato does bonus dark damage to Beowulf.
@@wesleygriffiths8748 All of the bosses in devil may cry 3 have elemental weakness MegaMan stye (except Vergil) As for example Nevan = ice Horse = ice Centipede= ice Shadow clone = light Agni = ice Cerberus=fire and wind First boss = light and some enemies such as blood birds weak to agni and Cerberus
