As a DMC fan I can say Vergil isn’t broken. He’s “lore accurate.” And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
I never even understood what people mean by "vergil is broken" like does that mean he's overpowered or he breaks the game? Or both? I don't understand how he breaks the game if thats the case because hes meant to be overpowered
@@Lavastorm_ People say that because he’s usually the most powerful character in the games he’s in, makes mince meat of enemies and bosses. And it’s not just in Devil May Cry 5 it’s been like this since Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition on PS2. That would be the blueprint for playable Vergil in the future. In DmC: Devil May Cry Vergil’s Downfall this incarnation may have lost Force Edge and Beowulf but got some new moves for Yamato and to his movement like teleporting to locked on enemies. But it’s really DMC4SE where they really figured out Vergil’s kit. In fact with how versatile he is Vergil is the easiest character to learn. He may not have as many weapons as Dante but he makes up for it with again versatility that mops the floor with demon fodder and bosses with just a little bit of practice. With Yamato combos, tweaks to Beowulf and his screen clearing nuke Judgement Cut End Vergil breaks DMC4. And the same can easily be said for DMC5. Hell outside of the DMC series, when he was in Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Vergil was the most overpowered character in the game if not outright broken for years.

Many have stated before that Vergil is a rare occurrence of not nerfing the playable boss, instead buffing the absolute hell out of him, and everyone loves it.
Fun fact: Vergil in the original version of DMC 3 was the only enemy/boss who adapted to your play style making him have one of the best AI at the time

I remember having to learn how to get S ranks as the other characters. But the _second_ I started playing as Vergil, I couldn't stop getting SSS ranks. And I swear to you, even after doing it a hundred times, it still feels better than sex.
they made it easier to get s ranks with vergil so the basic combo is a guaranteed c or b rank combo

@@Stticka by vanishes you mean the judgement cuts? Not the super move, the regular judgement cuts you can start after every Yamato attack and chain together. I was talking about these lol. I find judgement cut end (the super move) to actually be pretty boring since everything dies immediately
Dante as last boss just showed me how you can ACTUALLY play him instead of spaming the same 4 weapon combo and trickterin' around the dancefloor in mission 19
So true with Dante I've learned that pressing up stop any damage getting your clone so can continue your combos if your dodge didn't work cause his perfect defense

There is one move that I'm sure Vergil does as a boss fight, that you can't do when you play as him is the "don't move".

If you havent bought the vergil dlc, an option in the menu called "unleash vergil" can be seen

In DMC3 we see that his shop is close to a strip club, in the Manga we see that people from this club know who Dante is, he have many porn magazines in his shop (even in DMC5) and many empty bottles
This basically shows that Dante might not have a girlfriend, but he isn't gay and probably not virgin, he had some crazy parties, since he's used to visit strip clubs, but that is just hinted and never showed because that's not the focus

Once you lesrn the timing of consecutive judgement cuts, you have to actively try not using it because you're too OP. I love Vergil so much
When you first learn 4 consecutive judgement cuts it's so satisfying then if you create the muscle memory it becomes so fun to just pull consecutive judgement cuts while in combat without having to think about it ❤

@@stephanossfirtsis4580 while doing the 2nd JC cut you have to hold and release as fast for 3rd and 4th as soon as the 2nd JC cut finishes, the timing for 3rd and 4th are milliseconds and you will mostly spend you time learning the timing for the 2nd one because the timing for the 3rd and 4th is easy once you understand the concept
Vergil was broken in every game he was playable.

I only started to play this game like 2 weeks ago, honestly this game didn't get nominated for the Game of The Year 2019 is a crime. Combat is top notch, soundtrack and sound effect are on point, and characters design are so unqiue that you feel you are playing 3 game at once. After I unlocked Vergil I have been playing him none stop and roll through the bloodly palace. Even though I was completely noob at this game, but I still enjoy it because combo have depth, attack has parry frame so that your momentum is not interupted if you time your attack well. This game, by this year standard is still the only king in its genre.
Didn't it win the best action game tho?
I want Capcom to do a Vergil Campaign in the next DMC game.

Vergil strikes such a clean balance of gameplay for a DMC game, that going to play as the other characters feels like I'm swinging through molasses, especially Nero. He's just simply well-rounded, fast as hell, and not saturated with moves like Dante.

Vergil is one of the few bosses that don't get nerfed when they become a playable character and it is great!

1:15 bros out here acting like DMC5 isnt the third game with vergil as a dlc character
The character swap wasn't so bad in 4 but still annoying though it was upped even more in 5. Vergil not having that makes him extra based. Also on another note first thing I did as V was swap the bindings around so I could use the triggers for shadow and griffon instead of the buttons. Made playing him way better.

Dante combos are way better than vergil... Dante's weapons are way better than vergil... Dante's play style is way better and fun than Vergil... Dante as a boss is a nightmare compared to Virgil.... Vergil is sure very very cool character but saying he is cooler and better than Dante is cap.
Dante is like a jack of all traits and a master at some of those traits but Vergil is a master of a single fighting style since he mainly uses only one weapon whereas Dante keeps using multiple weapons which is why Vergil is just an overall better swordsman. Also Dante focuses more on brute force whereas Vergil is the opposite and focuses mainly on speed and precision which is why he is so fun to play with. Dante canonically still has all the abilities he gained from other games like that telekinetic ability from dmc 3 which also used in the first cutscene for the first game etc. He doesn't use all those abilities from the previous games because he would be broken but the creators should add it anyway considering how broken Vergil's gameplay is. They should've added all of Dante's abilities outside the devil arms to make it somewhat even since they're around the same power level in the lore so making Vergil way better in gameplay mechanics makes no sense to me.
Vergil's not so much better in terms gameplay mechanics as he is simpler and easier to use than Dante. If you know what you're doing with Dante, you can shred through the game just as easily as you can with Vergil. It just requires a bit more elbow grease.

Imagine how crazy would it be if DMC5 Vergil dlc dropped with its own story mode instead of just a neat little change to the final boss fight. It would for sure be a whole new experience rather than a plain easy mode for the base campaign. That's what DmC did and what the other DMC games failed to do. Blame Capcom for letting the game's potential hindered by their more "business-minded" higher-ups. Heh, good thing we don't have to fight Vante anymore amirite

Dmc4 had two entire characters (then 5 when se came out) and was unfinished but even then both dmc3&4se gave us vergil to play through a campaign of his own. Sure it had the same cutscenes but these teams didnt receive the budget for those kinds of expansions. We got what we got regardless. As for dmc5 there is fucking 5 characters.....again their budget goes mainly to gameplay and polish. Dmc5 was technically all about vergil as it is literally his character study. So you do play as vergil in his own campaign in the form of V. If you dont see that as really vergil and not truly counting...then thats how many of us feel about the reboot. I can tell you got some kind of chip on ya shoulder so youre trying way to hard to prove a point when it really doesnt matter tbh. The solution is much more simple than you think. You go play vergils downfall dlc if you like it that much. I wont play that gane because it doesnt appeal to me, i prefer beating mfs up at high speeds with vergil in dmc5 bp.

My whole point is that DmC simply put more dedication into their dlc by making playing reboot Vergil a unique experience. Not only unique to his lore, but also unique to his gameplay, which other special editions and DMC5's Vergil dlc failed to do. Vergils campaign gameplay is simply not unique enough to him, that's all I was trying to say. DMC5 Vergil dlc is generally a step in the good direction but still left much to be desired. Funny how you used V as an example of giving Vergil his own unique gameplay, noticed how even V got his own levels specifically designed for him? Playing as V could be taken as playing with Vergil's unique lore but not his unique gameplay mechanics. It would require completely new levels for that. I'm not saying it's objectively bad the way it is. When compared to its DmC counterpart, Ninja Theory clearly put more effort in their reboot Vergil dlc, Level design-wise, as opposed to 4se and 5se's complete lack of unique level designs. DMC5 would only be better if the some amount of dedication was involved when making Vergil dlc and DMC5SE. How's that a hard concept to grasp?

Its explicitilly stated that dante in his younger years before the events of 3 and around that same time line inherited spardas love for earth women and there is a scene of women talking about dante and how attractive he is one of them warns the other to be carefull cuz he is a bit rough though different words where used im just keeping it clean

Thanks for this video! I did try the DMC “re make” they made a few years ago but found I am absolutely terrible at these sorts of games as I’m horrible at remembering combos. I never tried DMC 5 because the idea of learning 3 characters just didn’t interest me.

i remember watching DMC 4 videos where they fought the boss using dante and they flew up in the hair fighting IN MID AIR they even reached the ceiling while i could not even do a simple jump cancel combo let alone fight in the air

@@reeeraaaw to the point where 3-5 has some retcons for 1 like Vergil lol. ALLEGEDLY kamiya was a ghost writer for 3 but it sounds like BS
Judgment Nut End does flat damage in a wide area. Deep Stinger is the weakest of the overpower attacks, but it can deal the most hits, so it's good for breaking or disabling body parts, such as Urizen's shield crystal and Angelo shields, or using its longer duration and thus extra invincibility frames for interrupting teleporting Furies if you struggle to defeat them. Hell on Earth is Vergil's absolute strongest attack when he uses it at point-blank range, though the damage does quickly fall off the further you are from your opponent.
I played DMC5 within the last year. I had never played a DMC, it was such a fun experience. I throughly enjoyed my time with it
I like how fighting Vergil is how Dante felt, and Fighting Dante is how Vergil felt.

After I played Devil May Cry 5 I’ve seen so many people ask when a Special Edition would happen. I knew it was going to happen, it was just a matter of time and when the trailer dropped I wasn’t surprised. After seeing DMC3, DMC4 and DmC: Devil May Cry get the rerelease treatment it only made sense DMC5 would get the same treatment. But man when the trailer dropped and Bury the Light played I was hyped to hell and back. And even more so when he would still be DLC on previous consoles in case you couldn’t get a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It’s pretty much a similar case to what they did with Dante and Nero: taking everything Vergil could do in DMC4SE and go overboard with it.

DMC 5 is the best Character action game ever.
In the overall action game genre, it's the second best. Right behind DOOM Eternal. Ultrakill might end up taking the 2nd spot tho. OR, maybe even the first spot.
Oh BTW, in 2019, DMC 5 actually had a very strong competitor, Astral chain. Easily one of the top 10 action games ever.

@@Sincleaver Nope, it falls behind DOOM Eternal from pretty much every aspect if you compare the combat. Eternal has far superior combat space design, enemy AI/design, variety, it's far more dynamic, and overall has a much higher skill ceiling. Not to mention that you don't even get to play half of DMC 5 as Dante, the character that actually makes DMC's combat what it is.

I’ve recently got DMC5 (first DMC game as well) and am currently getting my ass beaten by Vergil.

One of the best thing playing campaign with Vergil is no cutscene.
I feel like the gameplay is reflected in the character’s individual personality, like Dante is really hard to learn and there are too many mechanics for you to explore, because that is Dante’s self. He is enthusiastic in his ways of fighting even in the lore, using anything and everything as his advantage, but he’s not a prodigy like Vergil where he’s a straight up badass from the get go, but when honed to a certain degree, he can be the best mechanically and if the players are skillfull enough.
Whereas in Vergil, in the lore he’s a straight up prodigy, he’s been strong the way he is ever since he was a kid when he unlocked his DT, and he has beaten Dante in every single encounter pre-DMC3. This is reflected in his gameplay playstyle, where Vergil is really easy to learn in comparison to Dante, and his kit aren’t as complex, more linear and straight forward, and he’s strong even from the get go. This is kinda like that “Hardwork only beat talent, once talent stop working hard” type of situation, but in Dante and Vergil cases, it’s much more complex and in-depth than just a simple talent vs hardwork, but is an implication of so, albeit more of like acceptance/kinship vs grief/detachment, in the lesson that moving forward and accepting a failure has a much better reward at progression rather than trying to force fixing a broken/failed past
These parallaxes are also noticeable in DMC3-Special Edition, where Dante have a more erratic and chaotic battle theme song(OST) with abnormal and distorted instrument , to convey Dante’s randomness way of fighting.
While if you play Vergil, his theme song(OST) has the exact same rhythm but with different structure as Dante (to imply that they’re an identical twin), but they replaced the chaotic and distorted instruments with more separated bass and drum, just like Vergil’s playstyle, it’s a lot more methodical and polished, every single swing from his Yamato was calculated and extremely efficient, not a single waste of unnecessary energy, an exact opposite to Dante’s playstyle. You can see what I’m talking about in Vergil’s cutscene of DMC3, when he fought the red/white hell Demon (which IMHO is the best showcasing of Vergil’s fighting method ever made in DMC history, probably second only to Vergil’s first appearance in DMC5, because past that, Capcom just kinda mixed in Dante’s style too much into Vergil’s, where they made Vergil fight too erratically and kinda inefficient, maybe they’re trying to imply that Vergil is starting to become more like Dante, in a way that he is starting to let go of the past and accepting it, like Dante(?), so they made him fight more like Dante(?) )

I had kinda difficult time play the main story with nero /dante .( dmc5 was my first dmc i played)and then i play as vergil and i love him .i have 88hours and 82 i was playing vergil
Cons:
- Makes the game too easy
- Costs money
- No new levels, just replay the old ones with a new character

I didn't bother trying higher difficulty than human when I first played DMC5 base game, but happily did with Vergil and easily beat DMD. Well not so easy with Dante boss fights, but I certainly found him more powerful and more enjoyable to play than the three main characters in the base game.
Vergil is easily my favorite character to play but anyone that says “Vergil is broken” has never seen a high-level Dante player or fought the DMD Dante final boss. Vergil has 3 weapons.
Dante has like 8-10 weapons and 4 different combat modes which are all expanded further with DT and then SDT is basically its own mode.
