Maybe Briggs-Stratton made changes at the Snapper factory on later models by using a different chain design in the chaincase and that caused them to redesign the sprocket with teeth to mesh properly work with the new design chain? So maybe PartsTree is now stocking the newer style parts and they aren't compatible with older Snapper chaincases?
As you’re probably aware, on later models they call that a ‘sprocket & shaft’. Could that ‘driveshaft’ be for a different application? I enjoyed seeing your paying job machine shop.
Doesn't give me much faith in buying Genuine Briggs OEM Parts. Can't wait to see what the solution. To use that sprocket you would need a new chain and a new larger sprocket. Doubt if they redesigned things to be that way.
Hey Jim. This is Michael from Arkansas and first I just want to say that I've really enjoyed and found your content useful. I have been enjoying seeing you go through Paul's drivetrain. I have an issue that I want to put to you and see if you might have some insight on a problem I have been suffering with. I have a bad intermittent vibration issue with my blade/spindle/deck. I rebuilt the spindle several years ago with help from your channel and maybe a year ago I started to have a bad vibration at high speeds. I could slow the rpm, of the engine down and it goes away. at first I thought it was a loose or missing bolt at the spindle to deck junction but it appears that the bolts are still in place and tight. I also knew that my belt was a bit loose and I recently replaced it with no change. The corrugated ring that helps suspend the spindle in the deck frame has fallen out and It seems that I am unable to replace it properly without disassembling the pully/brake/and top end of the spindle itself. I am hoping that you may have some tips on how best to approach this issue. Do you think I should tear it down and rebuild it again? Thanks in advance Jim.
Hi Jim I watched your clutch videos from several years ago and this is just what I need. I weigh 230 and I have some hills to cut and the clutch doesn't seem to last. I think the friction material gets polished and then its done. After I take that large nut off, I can't seem to get the disk off. In your videos you seem to just pop it off. Do you have any suggestions on how to get it off that shaft the first time?
If you’re just trying to replace the clutch disk with the rubber on it, take the four small nuts off on the outside and it will come off in the clutch disassembly will stay in place
@@jimjackson9381 no, I wanted to take the whole assembly off and connect the two like you did in your video. It came off with a little persuasion. I have the assembly all put together and now have to put the mower back together. Wish me luck.
I have a 28 inch hi vac deck that clogs with grass pretty fast, I was curious if it would be safe to cut the bottom of the deck off where the grass chute is or would destroy my deck?
@@TheTmann87 No you don’t want to do that that would probably make things worse, send me a picture of your deck opening with your deflector lifted up. Are you cutting the grass when it’s wet? How long is the grass when you’re cutting it or how much are you cutting off at one time? Are you using air lift on your blade? You have a 28 inch machine but without your complete model number I don’t know how big your engine is. What is the horsepower of your engine? What state do you live in and what kind of grass are you mowing? Send me a picture of your blade. I want to see what shape it’s in as far as the air lifts on it? Fixed it. It seems that the spindle flange had seperated from the spindle. Welded it and now I am in business again.
