  • Monday December 3 2018 at 11.43. After the Town Hall clock chimes for 11.45, the 11.41 Bedwyn to London Paddington (12.54) train appears. As soon as I’d turned around and started to drive away, the barriers lowered again for the 6.47 Penzance to London (12.22) train which was trundling along 25 minutes late and getting further behind as it was now being held up by the stopping train we’d just seen. There is a passing loop just east of the station but it wasn’t used on this occasion. As soon as I went over the crossing to turn around after that, you can hear the alarm go as the barriers lower for a 3rd time. This time a London to Plymouth train went through but it wasn't visible in the downpour. This crossing was filmed in 2011 when local roads were closed for a Remembrance Sunday procession. I have to say that I prefer First Great Western’s blue livery to GWR's dark green. In 1971 a freight train crashed here and partly demolished the signal box. 100 seconds of the first wait was cut.
