Great overview Brodie! As a Sox fan, this is a slam dunk. Unfortunately some are complaining about parking (??). Right now Uncle Jerry milks fans an extra $30 for parking near the stadium - taking transit would be MUCH cheaper and easier to get to. Also, I'm sure there will be underground parking as well. The design of the park is outstanding as well - with plenty of amazing views of the world-class skyline.
this would absolutely automatically become top 3 stadiums in the league, maybe even flat out the best once this entire area gets completed, i really hope to see this happen, hopefully once good old jerry is gone the new owner(s) will clean house in the front office and bring in people who know how to build a good team
The more water Taxis for stadiums the better. I always loved taking the boat to Steelers games in Pittsburgh when I was younger it really adds another element to the whole game-day atmosphere.
Yup, I'm a Pittsburgh sports fan too, and it's so cool to have boat access to games, not to mention the riverboats tooting their horns when they pass.
As a Cubs fan, I gotta say this would be epic af if the Sox can pull this one out, would absolutely love to attend a crosstown classic at this ballpark on the Chicago river overlooking the majestic Chicago skyline. The only thing I'm afraid of is that it will cement Chicago as a Sox town.
this would definitely balance things out like how it was before the 80s when the city was a perfect 50/50 split, the only true way chicago would become a sox town is if they become a dynasty and/or have the face of the league play for them, if that happens in this new stadium then yes the cubs will become the little brother, luckily for you the cubs are in a good spot to improve while the sox in the field is getting worse, only time will tell
I think it's great for Chicago. Now I'm a diehard Cub fan too. But Chicago will ALWAYS battle who the city belongs too. #GoCubsGo. Could you image if built. South clark st. will now also have a bar, clubs sm businesses scene How dope will that be. More and More people will flock to Chicago if this is built. Not to mention the bears stauim isnt that far from all of this.22 clarkst bus will be the busiest bus route. My only issue is. Who's next The Bulls going to want a new staduim.
That new stadium if done would benefit the MLB greatly. Since the 💯 th anniversary of MLB ASG is coming. Having it in this awesome location would be impressive. And yes on Clark St. Funny cause the other teams mascot's name is Clark. And still wears no pants .
i’m glad you mentioned this too, this would be absolutely perfect because the very first ASG was at the original comiskey
There’s already a Red Line stop at the 78 at Roosevelt, then right next to it there’s a Green and Orange line station. And it’s also right by the LaSalle street Metra station.
cool thing about metra is the fact that currently lasalle street only has the rock island train but next year it will now service the south west train as well, so this location is honestly perfect
If this gets built I hope this pushes Chicago to be viewed as #1 Baseball City
the 78 already has plans for a new CTA redline station at Roosevelt/clark and new Metra stop as well
I can’t wait to have brand new stadiums for both the Sox AND Bears 🙌🏽 Woohoo!!!
Hell yeah this could be a cool thing if it happens
If you wanted to become the ultimate youtube authority when it comes to sports stadiums across the US (or the world for that matter), rather than being a bay area sports journalist, i don't think anyone would object. Just saying. I don't care about the A's but i found your channel through youtubes algorithm watching videos about Las Vegas. But you're awesome to watch on anything related to the potential move and I can definitely get behind watching more Brodie talking about future stadiums across the country/world.
The original Comiskey Park faced NE from home plate with downtown down the third base line. Of course, you couldn't really see it because of the double deck design of the outfield seats, but at least it was towards that direction. The White Sox managed to build the last cookie cutter stadium, doing away with the uniqueness of the previous stadium.
Brodie, thanks for referring to one specific Windy City icon as "the Sears Tower"!!!! "Willis" is unsuitable on this skyscraper!!!!
Pay for it yourself, Jerry.
Wrigley field is a dump
Don't forget fast traffic access from the Archer rd. & the I55, also a new Orange line stop can be built south of the stadium. The Orange line also merges with the Green & Red line at Roosevelt. It's a perfect location to get to using public transportation. There are cheap CTA (after hours) parking lots at most Orange line stations. It could be a win win. One of the reasons why people don't go to Sox games is because it's in Bridgeport. There's not much happening in that area. People want to go out & hangout after a game. You really can't do that where the Sox are right now. Lot's of business and revenue can be generated by moving into The 78. More so than just developing pricey homes/condos, or buildings that will end up half empty.
As a Sox, a new stadium would be great. What worries me about this location is how to get there. Most Sox fans don't live near downtown. They live near the stadium and in the suburbs. We have to drive to get to the games. Anything in that 3 mile radius around the center of downtown is an absolute nightmare to drive around. Now it's going to cost an extra $20 bucks or so to get to a game with transportation costs.
Sub transport costs with existing parking costs. It'll typically equal out
@@KWally not really because you gotta pay for parking at the train station still
I'm a Sox fan in Minneapolis this would be worth a few trips to Chicago during the summer 🏝️🌞
The pin wheels need to be on the scoreboard. Secondly the outer facade should resemble the original park...it's does not have to be identical but the stadium in these renderings doesn't look like a White Sox ballpark.
CHI can support 2 MLB teams due to its 12-13 million ppl than SFBA has 7-8 million ppl as Boston or Philly metro areas to support per each pro-sports teams: MLB; NFL; NBA; NHL; MLS.
Detroit and the owners of the Red Wings had amazing renderings of something called "District Detroit" when Little Caesars Arena was built. All kinds of wonderful stores, mixed use housing, public areas in their renderings including development all the way to Comerica Park. Almost 8 years later, still mostly just vacant lots around the stadium.
Brodie, please take these plans with a pinch of salt. They are not "so realistic"... instead they are aspirational. Then the tax credits clear with everyone excited, and all of the wonderful buildings may just turn into parking lots.
I can see that or just use the old soldier field for the White Sox and call it NEW CELLULAR FIELD ON THE LAKE FRONT and the Bears in NEW SOLDIER FIELD IN ARLINGTON HEIGHTS!!!❤😂🎉❤😂🎉🎉❤😂🎉
It's really amazing what a little bit of brainstorming and intelligent approach can come up with for a ballpark on city property. It just goes to show everyone all across baseball what an absolute nightmare John Fisher has been in these conversations with Oakland. I love Chicago and this is one stadium project that (even with public money being included which i notoriously hate) I am rooting for. The "New Comisky" is a nightmare. I have hated it since day 1. The new park rendering looks to be fantastic.
John Fisher, you suck. Have we said that enough yet? There is never enough. Make it your mantra.
The Red Line stops at Roosevelt and State which is a short walk from Clark Street. The Red Line is in the subway, which is equivalent to the Red Line in the median of the expressway at 35th. But you also have the Green and Orange Lines that stop at Roosevelt as well. Those lines run on elevated tracks just mere steps from State St and is a short walk to Clark Street.
Metra has a Rock Island service that runs right next to the 78 site. Certainly a station could be built there. A walk across the river leads to another set of tracks near a Metra Yard. A station could be built there for Metra's BNSF and SWS trains and another platform could be added to take passengers on a short train ride to Union Station to access MDN, MDW, and NCS trains and another short walk from there to Oglivie Station to access Metra UPN, UPNW and UPW trains.
Lastly the Metra Electric has the longest walk from the 78, but us doable since many Bears fans walk to the Red Line from Soldier Field. Even the water taxis could serve Union Station and Oglivie Station
Let's make sure this happens it would really be insane if the Bears could build their new domed stadium next to the current Soldier Field and the White Sox get their new stadium.
Born and raised in Chi. Im a Cubs fan and spoiled by Wrigley but this Sox park would be incredible man. A lot more Chicagoans would visit and catch a game there and get casuals as opposed to walking and getting mugged at Comiskey. It would be the biggest waste if Sox don’t use this. This would elevate that organization big time.
Ya . Because you can't get mugged anywhere in the city today 😂.. Wrigley is a toilet and this park would prove it once and for all
I am here to tell you that I never got mugged going to a game on the South Side.
They will burn down sox field and say we need a new statium
Public housing?
The only bad part is, no tail gating. No parking anywhere for tail gating. Its chicago sports at best. I think this will break it for me.
Looks like the White Sox owner is seeking 1 billion dollars in state taxes for a new Stadium. If that's the case I think it could kill them from getting a new building.
Two billion
Three Billion
It looks like 1988 all over again, going down to the last minute down in Springfield trying to get the thing passed again
So jealous of these grand plans for Chicago and KC while the A's are leaving Oakland. If any fan base deserves a new park it's Oakland fans. So unfair and very sad.
Should attend more games then
@@maddrone7814 Miami and Tampa draw poorly yet they have and will have new parks. Giants drew mediocre for years at Candlestick, yet they got a new park and new ownership. The A's are stuck with the worst owner in all of sports who only cares about money.
Never give up hope. The unlikely could still happen for the As to stay in Oakland
@@maddrone7814That's not really fair. Horrible stadium, poor on field performance, and miserly payroll are going to struggle to draw fans in any market.
Oaklands attendance speaks for itself. It’s like a business and it’s time to move on.
“Clark Street Chaos”!
What about the cubs?
Jerry Reinsdorf is like a Midwest version of John Fisher. Cheapskate.
Seeing I'm a While Sox fan Jerry Reinsdorf is worse than John Fisher
is water taxi a thing in chicago ? just wondering, i know for pittsburgh ateeler games its a thing
I'm not sure they currently go that far south, but yes, they serve the east and south branches of the river.
Yes, it definitely is. Ofc, it is seasonal.
Many commuters coming in on Metra (the commuter rail) come in at either Union or Ogilvie Stations just west of the Loop and then take a water taxi to get into the north Loop area, including the Mag Mile.
When I lived there it was kinda but really only in summer and spring, not sure these days but I'm sure it is
Yeah water taxis on the river and the lake. For Chicago fire games at soldier field some fans have a pregame at navy pier and take the water taxi to the museum campus to go to the games.
Im not sure what he's talking about. The Sox and the Cubs have been playing in the same city for 123 years. .. I really don't know what he's trying to say..
No you got it right. This guy is all hype and no fact
8:33 could have been a park
I'm also hoping it will be a ballpark.
@@beartackle public park?
How to pay for this is going to be an issue, it's not going to come cheap
Not even close
I will believe it when I see it. It ain't gonna happen. Their's no need for it to happen.
I live in southern Illinois. 331 miles to current White Sox stadium. NO to any state tax dollars! I would get no bang for my buck!
Dear White Sox and MLB, don't screw this up!
That looks so much better than the one the White Sox play in now.
Such a waste of money when their current stadium is in excellent shape.
Couldn't agree more.
May they have a RECORD # of rain outs every year.
If I'm not mistaken, isn't Howard Terminal supposed to have its own ferry dock? Jack London Square right down the street, but I thought I remembered a special use dock at HT. I mean, why not, right? It's already there...The A's and White Sox are kinda soul twin franchises in so many ways. They are both considered the Beta dogs in their respective markets, little respect, haven't seen much in the way of success for awhile, a near tragic history of bad ownership, and rightly or wrongly considered the "ghetto franchises" in their respective markets - along with all the dogwhistle BS that entails...And yet, here we are!... 😃 ...Both teams on the verge of going downtown to locations as or more exotic than those of their Alpha competitors. No one is dissing Wrigley or Chase, but c'mon! MLB has not one, but two Cinderella stories being scripted here - if they could pull their collective heads out of their shriveled tuchuses. (Or is it tuchi?... 🤣 ...Yiddish? Latin? Who knows?)...And you can't make this stuff up. That 78 property has an A's/Whox intersection as well. Ballys Corp went to that very 78 neighborhood and screwed up the Chicago casino franchise with negligent design and planning, and may not get out of there financially intact. Meanwhile, in the presumptive new home of the John Fisher A's - Las Vegas - that same Ballys is tearing down a Rat Pack Era landmark, with the JFA's as their invited bedmates there, with prospects of getting something back out of the ground sketchy at best. Michael Lewis is going to have a field day with this one...
Excellent
Why aren't there any "leaks" of the A's renderings?
Because of the timing. The Lease on the SOUTHSIDE eXpires soon. And the Chicago football team also wants a stadium. Funny how the MLB commissioner now announced he will not return after his term eXpires.
It was leaked that the White Sox had talks with Nashville earlier last summer. This is an attempt to save face and try to extract more public money like the White Sox did for their current stadium.
Saludos, absolutely it becomes #1 stadium 🏟 in mlb, Fenway, Wrigley
Chicago is crime ridden but owners want to stay. Tired of hearing Oakland has too much crime and shouldn’t have a team
Not the same at all
@@joemccullough4246Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for the White Sox but they have crime problems too
I don't live in Chicago, but I love visiting. I am here to tell you that Chicago is NOT crime ridden.
Pinwheels a no
It’s a great site but the ballpark itself looks fairly “mid.” Not much better than Guaranteed Rate Field.
nah this park looks incredible
CHI >>> SFBA
No way would it happen and apologies to White Sox fans but Indianapolis would be the perfect place for the White Sox. They would get out of the Cubs’ shadow. Only part that sucks for them bout this is it puts them closer to Cubs territory.
Indiana doesn't have a billion dollars to spend for a ballpark
Too bad the City of Chicago has gone into the toilet.
Every city in America messed up stop it 🛑 about my City Chicago
@@taiwanarnold5927 Chicago is the only city in America where the media reports holiday weekend totals of those shot and those shot and killed. Liberalism run amok.
Would love to see these fools step one inch into Bridgeport and try running that mouth.
stop watching the news man lol
Chicago is beautiful, You must be a Republican watching Fox news all day.
There's already an L station nearby. After the Cermak/China Town station it curves right and joins the old Jackson Park/Englewood line. There's an overhead L station about 3-4 blocks from the station.
