Ayvalık Sandwich
Difficulty: Easy
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 7 minutes
½ cup water
1 heaped teaspoon tomato paste
A pinch of black pepper
A pinch of salt
1 sausage, sliced lengthwise
8 slices sucuk, sliced or any cured meat such as chorizo, salchica, pepperoni.
8 slices kashar cheese, sliced or any kind of cheese that can melt
6 slices salami, sliced and cut in half.
2 slices toast bread
2 tablespoons butter
1 pickled cucumber, sliced into strips
½ tomato, sliced
Butter
Mayonnaise
Ketchup
• Combine the tomato paste and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
• Then add the sausage in tomato sauce.
• Place the sucuk on a panini toaster and grill.
• When it’s cooked, place them inside the bread with kashar cheese.
• Turn occasionally and add more kashar and salami.
• Butter the sides of the bread and place on the panini toaster.
• Toast until both sides are crispy and brown.
• If you don’t have a toaster you can use cast iron skillets on top of each other instead.
• After toasting your bread, open and place the pickled cucumber, tomato, and sausage into your sandwich.
• At last add some mayonnaise and ketchup into your sandwich, then it is ready to dig in.
Dirty Spring Sandwich
Difficulty: Easy
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 7 minutes
1 baguette bread
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
2-3 tablespoons canned peas, carrot, and potatoes
Salt
Black pepper
3 pickled cucumber (1 for garniture, diced, 2 for sandwich, cut into strips)
250 g halloumi, sliced
4 lettuce leaves
200 g aged kashar cheese, sliced
Chips
• To make the Russian salad, combine mayonnaise, canned garnishes, pickled cucumber, pickle juice, salt and black pepper in a bowl.
• Halve the baguette bread and spread the salad to the bottom. The salad will be an insulator and a good dressing for your bread.
• Place the lettuce leaves.
• To grill the halloumi, heat a large pan on high heat and add some olive oil.
• When oil is hot, place the halloumis on the pan. To have gorgeous golden-brown halloumis you shouldn’t flip them until one side is completely cooked and crunchy.
• Place the aged cheese, grilled haloumis, pickled cucumbers on lettuce leaves, and top with chips.
• Make sure you add the chips just before you eat to keep it crunchy.
Antakya Döner
Difficulty: Easy
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 7 minutes
1 heaped tablespoon red pepper paste
3 tablespoons olive oil
200 ml tomato puree
2 cloves garlic
A pinch of salt
A pinch of black pepper
A pinch of sugar
A sip of vinegar
2 pickled cucumbers
200 gr döner
1 tablespoon butter
1 lavash
Potato fries
Rest of the recipe is pinned in the comments section ⬇️⬇️⬇️

The American/Russian salad story made me laugh. Thank you for explaining the history behind it. All sandwiches are amazing and they all have pickles! You all rock!
Agree
For what it's worth, that, with the addition of a little marjoram, that would also be Polish Salad!
I think they meant STOLICHNIY salad, that’s what we use to call. Definitely it’s not American salad. I live in USA, and im from former Soviet Union 😍
In Croatia it's called French salad 🤣 but OMG those sandwiches!!
@@anauts Same in Hungary: franciasaláta. In Poland, it's "vegetable salad." While there are some salads in America that use mayonnaise (tuna salad, chicken salad, macaroni salad), I don't think most people would recognize vegetables in mayo as a type of "American salad." I have never seen such a salad here outside the Polish grocery store. (Similarly, I somehow doubt the French would claim that salad as their own, either.) I've always associated it with Eastern Europe.
Bahar is adorable! I loved seeing her featured in this video. We usually get the most adorable cameos from her. It was a great watching her joyously make her veggie sandwich! I can’t pick a favorite. I think I’d like a combo of all three!
I WANT THEM ALL....
IT IS DIFFICULT TO CHOOSE WHICH ONE IS THE BEST BECAUSE THEY ARE LIKE YOUR CHILDREN...YOU LOVE THEM ALL BUT IN DIFFERENT WAYS... I LOVE THE THREE OF YOU FOR BRINGING US SUCH WONDERFUL GASTRONOMIC DELIGHTS💝
İ like them all, and my wife like Burak's the most. We will make them all as we make all the recipes that you post. Türkiye'yi, Türk yemeklerini ve Türk insanını seviyoruz!
I love this video so much! It was great to see Bahar and Burak make their own sandwiches! They all look tasty, so it's hard to pick a "winner", but I think Bahar takes it for me, if only by a hair.
I like Burak's wrap. Here in my country, Peru, there are many Turkish restaurants and there are varieties of fillings for these wraps, like Burak's, but with a meat that is always in a machine that they called shawarma. But there is a wrap that I like a lot, is filled with Lomo Saltado a meat stir fry with french fries, a typical dish from Peru. You guys must try it!
I love Lomo Saltado, bistek ala pobre as well love Peruvian cuisine ,♥️
According to a story, people who migrated from Ottoman Empire to South America had introduced döner wraps and the tradition emerged and became so popular there as well. I don't know if it's really true but the similarities cannot be a coincidence, right? 😁👐🏼
@@atakanorgan3386 im from Brazil and yes, thats actually true. Historically, Syrians and the Lebanese immigrated en masse here and they came with Turkish passports due to these countries being still ottoman territory. Thats the case of my great grandfather's parents. The immigration was actually encouraged from the time of our Monarchy in the 19th century.
I adored this compilation🥰 Bahar, your humorous editing ( Ross’s sandwich!😂)
As for the sandwiches themselves…they made me soooo hungry!
No way I am going to choose just one!
Refika’s for gooey cheesy sausage tasty crunch ( breakfast!)
Bahar’s for fresh veggie haloumi munch (lunch)
Burak’s for savoury meaty saucy to-go punch ( dinner)
Such fun to watch such good friends literally break bread together and share their favourite cravings.
You are the best❣️
Turkey is such an amazing country and its kitchen is just yummy....missed you,Refika, gld to see you guys are still doing the youtube show....
Burak's "sandwich" looked so good! The onions and the pickle sounds like a great combo. Great job! I love your channel.
Thank you so much! Yes I love them both in a sandwich!
@@Refika As a 100% Native American person, the Ayvalik Toast reminds me of the Tortilla. Btw, I'm not Mexican but one of the last remaining Taino .
You all did a good job.. Buraks wrap with out the potatoes looked yummiest to me. What kind of meat did he use.
My wife loved Bahar's sandwich, but you and Burak are a photo finish for me. With Burak just ahead by a little. But ALL LOOK AMAZING! Thanks for bringing the world such joy and great food!
All points to Bahar- her first time... would love to see her cooking more!
Love the idea of using tomatoes paste or pepper paste in the sandwiches instead of mayo or mustard. And pickles… Such a good idea! They all look delicious, can’t seems to choose only one. Finally was able to find Pepper Paste at the grocery’s store… and the product is from Turkey! 😁 Will do it with your recipe when this is the pepper season. Love the show, your energy, the new flavours I discover and it is also great to see all three of you in front of the camera!
and any time you're welcome TURKIYE :)
I love watching Bahar get pointed around the kitchen! Her incredible presentation skills + some unfamiliarity in the kitchen is really fun to watch. 💜
Burak's doner looks amazing. I'm making that tomorrow 🤩
Love a good sandwich 😀 These three have been added to my notebook. Can't wait to go into the office with these and annoy people who buy sandwiches from the shop (over priced and under filled)
I'm voting for all of you - all too good to choose from
Lol, I've never seen any salad like that in America! Interesting story! The sandwiches look amazing though.
it is originally Russian that probably is why 😅😅
I think Refika’s is the best panini style sandwich, #2 is the best cheese sandwich, #3 is the best wrap! I loved them all!
They all look delicious! I vote for Burak’s sandwich. Burak for the win!
Watching this in the cold winter of Canada at -20 I could literally take out the next flight and have the entire sandwich of Bahar 😍😍😍
omg! I've unknowingly been making a version of Ayvalık Toasts for a while! Ever since I was introduced to sucuk, I cook it, dice it, and put it on bread with grated kashkaval cheese, then on the panini press.
I'll def be making this version now that I know what its called!
Why do you call it 'kashkaval'? 🤔 I'm from the Balkans and it's something only we'd say (to my knowledge).🤭
You’re making it so hard to stop eating bread! These all look so good, I want to eat them ALL. ALL THE TIME. 😂
PS A good tip for making bread like a grilled cheese? Use mayonnaise instead of butter or margarine! I promise it works!
Is anybody else obsessed with this posse and their energy? Also i vote Burak! That combination of doner and french fries is my middle eastern childhood! He had my vote the second he dipped the lavash in all the meat juice. Yum
Burak's wrap looks really good... even though I'm vegetarian. I might substitute the meat with falafels. I particularly like the pepper paste, and the sumac onions. I personally make sumac onions by mixing white wine vinegar, sumac, garlic and lime zest with the onions. It's a great thing to have sitting in the fridge.
Will try your version of sumac onions, sounds delicious!
My favourite is Burak's, but I'd gladly eat any of them! And it's so lovely to see you all interact, and to see more of Bahar and Burak. Keep going, you're lovely, all of you!
I would eat any one of those, but Burak's sandwich gets my vote!!!! It looks so yummy. Great video. Love to see everyone's personality. Good filming, Refika!
All those sandwiches looks appetising but Burak's wrap looks mouth watering. Omg i miss those sandwiches (dürüm) which i ate at İstanbul. Love all guys! Stay safe!
I love sandwiches ! My favourite today has to be Burak’s Doner ! I mean something about the bread and the doner meat looking amazing just wins the lot ! Bahar’s sandwiche is a fancier version of my own childhood so I love it as well ! You guys have an amazing on screen chemistry, please do more of this format , it’s really fun ! And I love how you include a bit of history in your videos, it makes me wanna come visit turkey ( even more than before lol ) … love from Algeria 🇩🇿 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Everyone did so well, how can I choose! Bahar’s for “meatless Monday” tomorrow ♥️
please let us know when you try! ❤️🙏
I really like that everyone shared how to prepare their childhood sandwich
My pal StarSmutje here on YT recommended me this channel and now I'm in love! You guys are hilarious and loveable! Grüße aus Lippstadt 🖖🖖
This video was a great new style that showcases the wonderful regional foods styles of Turkey. I like the history lessons of how Turkish food came to be and what makes it special. This is my family's favorite food RUclips channel. We are biased because as High School students we lived in Incirlik Air Force Base near Adana. One of my favorite sandwiches is the Adana kebap wrapped in thin Ekmek and wrapped with newspaper. More of these food challenges would be cool.
So good! Cheers! Pete
please never change, Burak. You're a gem!
I am a vegetarian. I would substitute the meat with tofu.
They all looked wonderful, especially on an empty stomach.
I enjoyed seeing all three in the kitchen. ❤️❤️❤️ The hearts to the three sandwich makers.
Burak's döner is definitely the one I would want! Though I would definitely enjoy them all :)
Watching this video brightened my whole entire day!!!!! So, thank you all for your joy!!!!!!
All of them are amazing but Refika’s gets my vote. I’m a sucker for Sujuk!!!! So want to go back to Istanbul I miss that city!!!! The food the atmosphere, Turkish Coffee… the way Aussies are so welcomed, one word Gallipoli and I’m given a shot of Raki and made a new friend…. did I mention the food??? 😂😂😂

How adorable!!!!! I ate too much!! So many lovely moments in this video! Would love to just be a fly on the wall in the kitchen when you guys are filming!
You are so kind ❤️🙏🙏
Im Eranthi from Sri Lanka.. I love love your recipes.. Here in Colombo, we have only have few Turkish restaurants, so I make all your recipes at home.. Thank you so much for sharing.. Love all your videos too.. Keep up the wonderful work you all do.. And keep sharing these yummy food.. As for the sandwiches, I think I like Burak's recipe coz it's spicy and has that lovely sumac in it.. But all sandwiches looks absolutely delicious.. 🙂❤
Loved the sandwich competition!
However the Donar wins for me! The hats he wears put it over the top!
You are all winners! Every one of them looks fantastic! I would like to try them all 🙂
Love watching you guys such amazing delicious food and so much fun
The decision is easy
Refika’s sandwich for breakfast
Babar’ sandwich for lunch
And
Burka’s for dinner with hot chips on the side
😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
I liked all sandwiches , oooh , I feel so hungry when I am watching this 😁
For me th winner is Burak´s wrap. But of course the other two did look amazing.
Every sunday morning we look at a new video, we love it, keep on going like this.
Lots of greetz from Belgium xxx
This video was so funny I had to watch it twice. I am convinced that I would make all of them - with the understanding that I need to use whatever is available here. I love Burak's doner the best.
please let us know when you do! ❤️🙏
They all looked delicious, so impossible to choose a favorite but one thing is clear: Burak can really throw down! He's obviously a natural in the kitchen. That was extremely fun to see. Great job!!
You are all winners in my mind. I loved the sharing and the different creations. Loved seeing Bahar and Burak in the camera instead of behind it. They all look delicious.
Thank you so much! ❤️
I think all your sandwiches taste great, but I like Burat's sandwich best 😍
You are so adorable guys ❤ Refika you are my role model. I’ve been working in food industry for nearly twenty years, yet I learn a lot from you following your videos. Also admire your passion for representing Turkey with authentic dishes world wide and putting efforts for sustainability and eco system. I would really like to meet you one day in person if you visit England or when I’m in Istanbul. Best wishes Serna
Amazing, all three of the sandwiches…my arteries hardened by just watching it! Bahar, yes you are correct we call it a panini grill here, and that is by far the largest grill I’ve seen, it would have fit your sandwich!😀. All of you are so joyful and loving it is truly a joy to watch you all interact, I love your doggie as well, so cute to see you sneak her a snack. The story of the “Russian” to “American” salad was awesome. That is a true history lesson there. If it’s possible to be in love with 3 people you’ve never met…count me in, love you all. My wife however doesn’t like pickles so there would be a de-pickling for her sandwich 😂. Thank you for great content and making me hungry all the time!!!!🥰😍🤗💕
Watched this last night, and again tonight, because we love you guys so much! Back home now from child-minding our grandson, so maybe we'll make this week. Tonight we had "cabbage Bolognese": wonderful!!
I like everything you make! You guys work so good together. Love to to see your videos ! Love when you guys talk and then try the food. Keep making these wonderful videos!
Can't decide! They are all great. I would eat anything you folks make!
They were all so good. Loved this format, three versions and we got to see the team.
I love sucuk, so Refikas would be my favourite
Loved them all.. but since I am a vegetarian I would personally use some elements from the three of you and make one.. thank you it was very inspiring
Burak's wrap is the winner for me. Burak needs his own channel!
You guys are great!!! Loves the sandwiches.... Love the edits you sneak in "Ross from friends" etc. lol! Our most famous sandwich is made with provolone cheese, Salami, mortadella or Capicola with lettuce & tomato with vinegar and olive oil. The best!!!!!
I've been binge watching your cooking videos, I've saved your recipes to my playlist.
I just enjoy watching your cooking Sooooooo very very much and have learned so much just by watching you cook and you have funny bits that make me laugh.
Blessings to you Refika and your loved ones muchly and thank you for sharing all of your wonderful recipes with us all.
It's just so wonderful to me to see a smorgasbord of so much wonderful food and recipes presented to us all from every country around the world.
It's like a table/feast that has been presented before me and we can go ahead and enjoy everything that is presented to us on the table.
With thanks giving we can help ourselves to all of the delights of the sensations of tastes and smells that are available to us, all we have to do is reach out and touch it. Our bodies, minds and souls love it.
New subby.

🧡🦘🐨👍😊
I wish I was in the kitchen when you made these delicious sandwiches. I love them all.... Each one is unique and tasty. All i can say is Bahar you are a fun cook. Love you all
I drooled over Refika's sandwich, scorned Bahar's long baguette sandwich, and fell in love with Burak's sandwich!!
the guy with the winter hat indoors had the best sandwitch imo BY FAR
Hello lovely people!!
All look delicious but I'll vote for Burak 😀 Great videos guys! Love from Canada
I will love Burak’s
And Bahar you are such a good sport to cook on camera while getting so much advice! Love seeing you on this side of the camera.
I like buraks accent and mannerisms and he has a sweet smile! I wish we could see more of their faces here and there. Sending love from Los Angeles 🌮
All of them!! I can sear and char some vegetables in the panini pess aka big machine and make them vegetarian 🤤! And it was great to see Bahar and Burak on camera ❤.
I loved all the sandwiches you guys are amazing stay blessed . Love from Toronto
Rafika you have trained all. 👍Buraks part was lovely to watch. Important is that I like everyone s sandwich 🥪. As all this stuff not available usually so I can make a mixture of everything. Thanks to Bahar too. I liked the episode.❤️
Loved all 3 ,but my fav is Refika's sandwich.
Love you guys . Delicious ❤️
Hello all! I love all 3 sandwiches but I think Burak's one is the most delicious and less messier 😋 I would love to try all 3 🤤 keep doing the great work 🤗
I love this series. I love the clumsy cooking. I loved all of the sandwiches. I didn't know she was vegetarian. I wonder how with all the delicious food around but great inspiration. I hadn't noticed the hats. Now that I do, they are all beautiful. Having said that, I think the last sandwich was the best. From slapping the bread onto the pan to rubbing the pepper paste style. I didn't expect that. Thank you. ❤🤍🖤
I loved the Burak’s doner 🎊. I will try to make it vegan version 😬😂
Love you guys❤️ and all you do!
Omg , thank you sooo much Refika and Refika's Kitchen team . For years, I am following your original youtube channel. My husband is American who loves and also likes to try cooking different Turkish foods. He attempted to try and understand your videos while I was watching more than one occasion. Although I tried to translate or explain, I think this channel will change the whole game. Thank you soooo much. P.S He loves Ayvalik tostu, he will be so happy.
It's very hard to choose, the three sandwiches looks great.👍 I love them all and I will surely make them with what I can find here in France.😄The names of the products may be different but thanks to the video, I can figure out what was used so that I can copy and make mine 😀 Nice learning class, thanks for sharing your recipes 👍. Stay blessed in God's grace. ❤️❤️❤️ You all.
.
Bahar is absolutely adorable! I want to cook for her just to watch her dance!
Just love this channel. I'm vegetarian so for me Behar's is first choice (crisps with any cheese sandwich add crispy deliciousness). Burak''s doner can easily be made vegetarian. and I'd use my own successful seitan shawarma (I slice it very thin, marinate with garlic powder, paprika, smoked paprika, bit of soysauce, EVO with a little vinegar balance, then stir fry until crispy). But really, all of them look just amazing!
Without a shadow of a doubt it is Burak's wrap. I was salivating as soon as he showed it. Well done, Mr. B.
Love this type of format! Lovely to see more of you three together! I love the Antakya samdwhich, would love to try when i visit Istanbul next time! Afiyet olsun! Love from Sweden 💜
We will need to try all of them!!! Yum.
Love them all!
Love love love this!!
It always cracks me up when Bahar goes: "Was machst Duuuu??!" 😂
... this was absolutely fun, and also nice to look behind the scenes. Love the dog! Burak gets my first place, but there will be a "Baharish“ halloumi sandwich tonight here. Thanks for all the fun! And all the brilliant ideas and advice.
Your videos bring a smile to my face and make me wish I could find your ingredients in my small Indiana, USA town.
Loved the concept and video
Love it! So sad, that here in Germany, Turkish cuisine is reduced to Döner most of the time and all the good stuff isn’t well known 🥸. But just like Refika once said: if it was French, everybody would know and love it… your Menemen is now one of my go to breakfast dishes and even my husband loves it. He‘s a very picky eater 😏 for me all 3 sandwiches are winners on their own. Keep those cook offs coming, really enjoyed every approach and the storys that connects you to the food. Stay safe 🙋🏻♂️
all of them look delicious, good job guys ❤️❤️❤️
I like all sandwiches , Burak is what I would like on a late night meal with friends ..., Rafikas is a morning brunch sandwich ( won't use mayo or ketchup though ) , and Bahars is more like refreshing evening sandwich ...( but I think I will use home made mayo ) ..., all are great 🥰
They all look so yummy but I am going to have to place my vote with Burak's sandwich. Bahar, you did a good job!
They all look delicious. Bahar, you did fabulous!
All sandwiches seem delicious!! going to make them all in time!! thank guys you're awesome
I love this kind of series.
They all look amazing
I love you guys sooo much! My Three Musketeers 💖💖💖 all the three sandwiches are perfect because you guys made it with so much love! Lets go for three different Turkish salads now for us on diet 😂 I feel you here, the one and only Refika 😘
They all looks really good to try, Bahar sandwiches adding chips remind me on my childhood school’s sandwich 😅😅😅
The videos are so much fun when they feature Bahar and Burak as well. It is very difficult to choose between these three sandwiches, they all look so good 🤤
Found your video just by chance, but goodness, am I glad I did. Three amazing sandwiches! Who could possibly choose? I couldn’t but I will try one on Monday, one on Tuesday and one on Wednesday. Then I may be able to decide. Easy to follow recipes in a friendly, amusing atmosphere.
They all look sooo delicious!!! 🤤🤤🤤 But I would go for Burak‘s Döner sandwich
I'd go with Bahar's sandwich. It looks awesome and super refreshing. I love Bahar and also her clumsiness :)
They all look amazing!!...Kudos to you three. I am going with Bahar this round!....Yay! her first cameo as a "chef"!!!
We’ll be making all three. Lovely to see you all again. Love from Canada!
