Submerging the pot in water until it’s fully watered usually works for me. You can also take a skewer and add air pockets to the soil by breaking up the compacted dirt, this helps the water sit in the soil a bit longer. To help prevent this add some texture to the soil with perlite or pumice, it helps the water drain better and reduces the chances of compact soil. Hope this helps 🤎

These are all great suggestions. Thank you ☺️

    Your mix is "compacted".
    You need more chunks/perlite.

Not a bad idea…. I’ll add it the next time I have this problem, because I’ll definitely have it again 🤣

@@The1GardenRN you need to take the plant out of the pot, and remix the existing potting mix with more perlite or grit/stones or even bark.

No sure, nothing special (something from a big box store). This happens anytime I allow my soil to overly dry out.

This can happen to all soil. Bottom watering helps to prevent it as it ensures all the soil is evenly wet in the plant so this doesn’t happen, whereas watering from the top only often leaves lots of dry spots in the middle of the soil. Although even then this can happen after a while!
