I’ve found with Abu, Aladdin, and Carpet that when defeating them you definitely want to Hypnotize rather than Vanquishing them, so that your opponents can’t keep bringing them back to steal the lamp/stall you using Narrow Escape. Conversely, when playing against Jafar you don’t want to play Abu and Aladdin until the lamp is out, or play Carpet until Genie is out.
This is probably the most important tip for new players as Jafar. I'm only relatively new, but the amount of times I'm been so close to winning only for Aladdin or Abu to come out and take the Lamp...
@@LordoftheBoard it was a good video. We just got this board game for Christmas. IT TOOK 4 HOURS for 3 adults and 2 kids to finish a game. It seems super fun though.
I actually don't play Iago at the Cave of Wonders much, I usually play the lamp when I'm in the Cave of Wonders to move it right away. So more often than not I put Iago in the Oasis so I can active him. Then I have the option to go to the move an item space or another activate space. And I almost always use Sorcerers power to move the genie
if you have the snake staff on the board and get fated with Aladdin, Abu or Carpet, you can pay the cost and hypnotize them, especially Carpet, and you basically have taken out your biggest threats by making them your allies as it doesnt count as being defeated
Another tip I would add is to always keep one copy of "sorcerous power".. This way if your opponent fates you after playing the lamp at the cave of wonders with Abu or Aladin stealing your lamp, you can always use this card to move them to the palace and then hypnotize or vanquish them to have the lamp in one turn where you want it instead of moving it every 2 turns.. if you have Genie already hypnotized then you might have also set your board for a one turn win with this combo..
This was very helpful! Just played this last night and I wish I had watched this first. Can you explain the Giant Hourglass? I can’t wrap my head around how it works with the need to activate it and vanquish. Thanks!
Cathy Zampogna hey thanks for the nice comment! giant hourglass is a great card. But extremely situational. It is hard to use with a vanquish action usually. But you can use it to weaken the genie by 2 strength and then hypnotize him for cheaper. It can be good to bring down the cost to hypnotize if positioning is right :$
Found an awesome niche strategy for Jafar that actually helped me when I got fated. Abu took my lamp at the cave of wonders- I used a sorcerer power card to move him to the palace and vanquished same turn. Opponents never saw that coming and didn’t have time to fate me once I snuck the win con in like that
2 questions: when it says that the magic lamp has to be at his location, can it be in the hands of a hero at sultans palace? (Aladdin is played to palace, and takes the magic lamp), and also, to hypnotize, do you have to have the ally’s needed to be able to defeat a hero in order to hypnotize a hero?
Hey! Since an item can’t be used if not on your side the magic lamp needs to be on your side of the realm to win :) And no you only need power to spend equal in the strength of said hero being hypnotized. Thank you for watching hope it helps!
Discard and item search you should find it by turn 3-4 which does kinda suck cuz you're behind at that point which is why he gets 5 cards in hand after the pendent is played, so you catch up
My GF and I just started playing this and was confused on some card abilities. So from what you said i can play Hypnotize heroes without needing to use vanquish to defeat them first? And second Necessary Sacrifice says discard any item or ally, does that include attached items on Heroes?
When you defeat or hypothesize the genie, does the genie go with the magic lamp, so you can use one move action to move the lamp and genie closer to the palace?
@@GreenLab-vo7vs then I would either go with Wicked to the core - or Be Prepared :) personally Wicked to the Core is one of my favorite box sets because it contains Hades and Evil Queen in addition to faciler
