He say that "we all remember the Alamo"; but, he leaves out the fact that we *also* remember San Jacinto! It *still* holds the world record for most lopsided victory of an outnumbered force over a larger one! It was the battle that actually won the Texas Revolution!

I am an El Pasoan and I do not want to be living in a Third World Country thank you very much. I love my home city of El Paso thank you very much that I was born and grew up in. I used to say the same thing about Texas until they lost their minds thinking we could secede and not suffer for it. The GOP are idiots especially after that freeze that we can be so independent from even though we are not on the National Electric Grid. I am so glad that even though we are part of Texas, our city actually had the common sense to be on the grid. Until I see Texas have more common sense, I will not support anything the GOP throws out.

To be fair if like 80-90% of the population in any state genuinely wanted to be independent from the U.S.A. I don't know if there's anything the U.S.A could do to enforce it's ban on secession without violently occupying the place. Which would not exactly be democratic or popular amongst that state's residences. I feel like if THAT many of the people wanted to secede then the feds might have no choice but to do the democratic thing and let them do so.

Currency isn't an issue with Texas
Honestly. It had what was known as the Texas redback dollar when it was its own independent country. It could be renamed but most likely that style of dollar or even the entire makeup could be reused or reissued. Born and raised and still live in Texas personally and I had a great uncle (he died when I was 6 and was 101 at the time of his death he also the last of his generation in the family) had actual real Texas dollars from that time in his possession too. He got them from his grandfather before he passed as a kid and when he passed his kids got them. Where they are now don't know but they were cool looking.

An alliance with Texas would offer access deep into the heartland of the U.S. as well as up and over to Louisiana. Do you believe Texas would not drill in the Gulf? And that's with Texas being the number 1 oil producer by a massive margin.

Did they forget the State guard? I saw them mention the National Guard, but not mention the State Guard at all. Those numbers are small currently, but are set up to easily amp up should the need arise. We usually ramp it up near any major emergency event.

He didn’t mention anything about a mass exodus from the state. I have friends who are proud Texans but if that were to happen they would leave the state. Not all businesses would stay in Texas either. The US could also demand that it pay back all the investments it has poured into the state.
I see Scotland becoming independent from the UK before Texas does from the USA.

    • @TheLastSane1

Not to mention it would require a fight, and Texas has 1.4 million soldiers in its borders in their 15 military bases. People just resume those bases would convert to Confederates but that would not happen.
