This is a truly magnificent cover of a Lightfoot classic.
We are so fortunate to have JP here in Nova Scotia...
JP has got to be the most underrated singer/writer/musician in Canada!
Fantastic cover, Sir….you make me proud to be a New Brunswicker
So much talent. No, I'm not envious. Just so completely full of admiration.
Thank you a lot for this heartaching Beauty in cold lonely winter'evening. It brings me warm. Right here and right now.
Beautiful J.P.! One of my very favourite Gordon Lightfoot songs.
Perfect!

Beautiful job everyone! One of my favorite GL songs and.......heck just plain favorite songs of all time period. Thank you!!!
One of my favorite GL songs. Thank you.
Thanks for a fine rendition of my favorite Lightfoot song of all time.
I became a massive Gordon Lightfoot fan thanks to Sarah McLachlan and her version of this song. You see, as a young musician myself, I clearly knew of GL and the Edmund Fitzgerald, but I had not heard this one. I found the original not long after hearing Sarah’s version and immediately picked up a guitar for the first time in about a decade.
Stunning - a beautiful rendition. Greetings from Australia.
What a beautiful soul-stirring blend of the quintet and J.P. ... great, great job everybody!
Wow! We are so lucky!
Sir, that was utterly sublime. Thank you!
Fantastic J. P. You sing darn good too

One word....outstanding!
Oh my!
That was exquisite Mr. Cormier!❤
I love this version especially with the strings.
wow.
was that ever good.
thnx so much!
I had hesitations about listening to J.P. Cormier with Symphony Nova Scotia musicians. Gosh, this is such a vital touchpoint in my life! Winter, the holidays of winter, were magical times in my past. A patina of melancholy has developed with time on those memories. Gordy's song has become the bridge from then to now. "Song for a Winter's Night" seemed sad as I first listened to the lyrics. I'm not so sure that is so, all this time later. The sadness of it is redeemed by the wish to hold the hand of the one he loves. I
If that doesn't satisfy the writer's yearning for that particular winter, he is wise enough to realize that this will have to do; what he has is in his heart. With time, he will have his lover's hand in his.
JP, with the Symphony Nova Scotia, do a marvelous job with their rendition. I especially enjoyed the orchistration~ It could have easily drowned out the soft message, yet each instrument is there to augment Lightfood's melody instead.
I downloaded it because I love it! So thanks, Gordy, and most of all thank you, J.P. Cormier, with Symphony Nova Scotia musicians!
Fantastic rendition of Gord's wonderful lyrical poetry. Everyone presented here is beautiful - in many ways!
Wow! Been watching your videos for a while now. Not sure how I missed this one. Very beautiful and moving.
One of my favourite artists and you did the song justice.
I've been covering this song for several years and heard many different versions and since I re-posted imine a couple of weeks ago, they have been popping up daily and yours was today. This is by far my favourite version to date. Amazing presentation vocally and the string section behind you was magnificent. I love it, love it, love it!! Bravo & Merry Christmas to all involved in this project!! Lance
JP, you are amazing, love your playing and I love Gordie too! Saw him a couple years ago in Greensburg, PA 💡🦶

Jp came to glace bay back in the early 2000's and was an inspiration for my journey into folk music. Thank you 💞
Tasteful interpretation of this song.
I came across the guitar reviews first. Then I saw the fiddle playing. Then I came on this, and I thought, what's this going to be like - there are a lot of great guitarists who can sort of sing the tune. So - OK, then! OK!
This is gorgeous! So rich!
Never expected such a fine cover w the orchestral quintet. ♫•*¨*•.¸¸✿. Very lovely indeed!
