I love John he’s one of my all time favourite characters it doesn’t make sense how some people Shit on John’s character just because they can’t play as Arthur in the Epilogue
@@IcySwagTag yess ikr. even tho i'm missing arthur while playing as john, i'm still so happy playing as him. in the first red dead i was so pissed to play as jack, so i'm really glad i'll be able to spend rest of the game with john this time 😂❤
John and Arthur are truely the best 2 characters in gaming history, theyve both my top place in my top gaming characters, so much emotion and pain no other character has made me feel the same while playing them
Niko Bellic was pretty good, Out of all the gta protag's I feel he deserved a sequel or a prequel into his past back in eastern Europe, initial service in the army committing terrible war crimes and then his criminal career shortly after up until he gets a lead on Florian which takes him on the ship to Liberty city, I feel like Rockstar could have done a whole lot more with his story than ''We used to Rob banks'' and ''I'm just a black youth trying to get out of the hood''
Also Dutch he is one of the most well written antagonists I've ever came across he is the villian that no matter how much you want to hate him you still have a soft spot for
Especially considering Dutch like Arthur and John both realized after it was already to late how the world works and that they made mistakes with who they chose to be. Arthur regretted all the bad he did. Dutch wished he didn't fall into his true nature that he did better but he knows that even if he walked off that cliff alive he'd still not be able to change and I think that's why he threw himself off not because he was trapped by John or because he was a coward. He wanted the war with his ego and his humanity to end
Arthur told John over and over to not look back. But he did. He went for Micah. Ross found him. John dies. If only he listened to Arthur John would have survived.
You are right, however I believe John Marston was a man with profound values and at the end, he had to finish what it was started. Micah destroyed the whole gang, which was initially a family, by persuading Dutch. Following that, Arthur gave his life for John, but mostly, Morgan teach Marston by example, being honorable and following the values that gave him peace in the last moments. It’s true that he would have lived a peaceful life the other way around, but as John says, he was responsible for his actions and he decided to be the end of Micah Bell because he did not deserve more time in this world after all he did. I truly believe that it’s all about redemption for both Arthur and John, facing every situation in his hard life as a valuable lesson and most importantly, as a revolutionary act of themselves to show the kind of men they were, by leading their lives according to those profound beliefs.
Fer Serrano you are 100% right. I kind of rushed the game and finished it really quickly but I’m going to go through it again more slower and look again more closely how these characters changed.
@party pooperdude In the Epilogue, when Sadie Adler and Charles come to Beecher's Hope to finally seek Micah Bell, John tries to make Abigail understand that is something he needs to do in order to be in peace with himself too, as he explains that if it wasn't for Arthur Morgan, Hosea, Lenny and everyone who were left behind, the dream of Beecher's Hope and the opportunity that they have in that moment won't exist. And moments before, in a bounty mission with Sadie, John clearly states that he is the only one responsible for his actions. He could not live peacefully letting that need of reckoning with Bell go. As Doc Holiday from Tombstone (Amazing western which I recommend) would say "Oh, make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after, it's a reckoning." Its all about having a chance, an opportunity to prove that, when everything is burning, good men will act seeking peace in their righteousness beliefs.
party pooperdude I know, just wanted to add that detail, as the story has so many of them that is hard to believe. Knowing Doc Holliday its a fact that makes me respect you sir. My hypocrisy only goes so far haha
The amount of love for these artificial characters from me and the whole community, its soo big that I don't even want to call them "artificial characters" or video game characters, I truly had emotions for both of them and that is extremely rare in a game, rockstar made a masterpiece
What really gets me though is everything Arthur died for was in vain, John lives his life as a rancher with Abigail and Jack for a little but ultimately they cut his life short too.... damn those pinkertons
Squanchie 420 John and his family lived a perfectly happy life too. He weren’t a threat to the Pinkertons and didn’t do anything illegal but as Dutch said to John “When I’m gone they’ll just find another monster, they have to,they have to justify their wages” (anything illegal or messed up the player does in both games I wouldn’t consider canon because John strived to live past the life of an outlaw)
Everyone that fell in love with Arthur and John cried when they died!!!!! John in Red Dead Redemption!!! And Arthur in Red Dead Redemption 2!!! Rip both!
I can’t help knowing why I fell in love with John Marston’s character in the first Rdr because of the influence Arthur had on john’s life that impacted him to do better. In the end they were truly brothers 💔
Arthur says "I want you to not look back." But John does look back - he hunts down Micah and kills him to avenge Arthur - even though the game constantly points out that revenge is foolish. "Especially for things that happened a long time ago." And you know what? Killing Micah is what put the Pinkertons on his trail and set in motion the events of the first game. "Nothing get's forgiven. People don't forget."
That's the sad beauty of it. I think John knows on some level this will probably comeback for him eventually, but he couldn't forgive Micah for what he did and I can't really blame him even with the knowledge of how it all ends in the first game.
as much as i love Arthur, something about John's story hits different when you did what i did and played RDR2 first then went and played RDR1. like you've been with John from the start, sorta. you saw how it all went down, you grew connections to the people you end up having to hunt down and it just hits ya like a runaway train. i genuinely had a hard time shooting Bill in RDR1 cause i came to like him and grow close to him playing through RDR2, before i knew he would later become an antagonist. i hogtied Javier rather than shooting him. and Dutch was the hardest to face cause i liked him for his leadership qualities from the start, so not only was his betrayal at the end of RDR2 a slap in the face, but the fact that he continued to delude himself heading into RDR1 that John was the traitor and the rat was so upsetting.
but its nice that u made a video for John! I like John more, dont get me wrong I really like Arthur but I played the first one and when I play rdr2 and see Abigail and Jack it makes me kinda sad when I think about what will happen with John.... But Nice work with ur videos, both of them! John and Arthur's!
This is the best tribute I've seen so far, the editing is top notch and the music goes really well with the scenes you've chosen. I also loved the fact that this tribute is about the relationship of Arthur and John and not just about John. John is the man he was in the first game and later in epilogue of the second game thanks to Arthur. "Get the hell outta here and be a god damn man!" And so he went and became a great man. Thanks for this tribute, outstanding work really.
Thanks for the lovely comment. I always aim to showcase the excellent character arcs and writing. Video games are getting far more interesting with the level of depth and amount of time players spend with characters that I hope we will continue to get more relatable people like Arthur and John in particular. Once again, glad you enjoyed it!! 👍
PazyPlayz I really hope for that as well - this is a future of games and story telling! Thanks are on my side, I will definitely watch your tribute again. :) Great work!
Red dead 3 should take place right after john marston’s death and the main character be jack and it shows the time between john’s death and jack killing ross, then in the epilogue it shows jack create his own family with 2 sons he named arthur and john
I cannot choose between Arthur and John.. they both reprrsent two different times and games. They both were important in my life each one at a different time. I now have a save game with Arthur and one with John. I love them both.
It's so heartbreaking whenever you realize John's own death was his own fault, the only reason Ross found him was because he got revenge on Micah, had he listened to Arthur and never looked back he would have finally gotten to live the life he always wanted, John has nobody to blame but himself.
Wouldn't have mattered either way...the Pinkertons/Ross wanted the entire gang dead. Ross only used John to find Bill, Javier and Dutch later on in RDR1.
I would watch these videos forever, I don’t know what to do if John and Arthur be here for everyone, they just are so great people that I ever met in a game....😭💔
Arthur was my brother and every single day I think about how he saved me and my family and I wish I could just switch roles save him so he could or if I could have done while Arthur and Micah were fighting
@Hydra Hamad they die of their own stupidity and stubbornness. Had a Horse which stood on the Railroad Tracks and just committed suicide when the train came... RIP Shredder... F
Arthur going against Dutch is the moment Arthur turned into a legend, and the moment Dutch lost everything... without Arthur’s blind loyalty Dutch knew it was all crashing down for real
When John died, he quoted arthur Arthur: "listen to me, when the time comes, you gotta run and don't look back." John: "Jack, take ur momma and run and don't look back." I don't fully remember wat john said but it was something along the lines of that
1:If it weren’t for Arthur, Jack wouldn’t have He’s parents. 2: if it weren’t for Arthur, John wouldn’t have gotten that ring 3: if it weren’t for Arthur, red dead redemption wouldn’t have existed.
The first game needs a serious remake. I think the ending of the first game should play out different depending on your honor level. If you play the game honorably, then that marshal from Armadillo, Bonnie MacFarlane, her father and a few others you've helped along the way. Show up and help John and his family fight off the government agents and the army. Maybe they show up to the ranch to visit, and during the visit the agents show up. They have a big gunfight and since John has help. He doesn't have to sacrifice himself. Then after it's over, maybe the marshal could explain how John helped him out, and gets him pardoned of his past crimes. At the same time the marshal uses the attack on the Marston family as evidence against Ross and the army. However if you play dishonorably, then you get the ending we all know. There also needs to be moments and easter eggs that pay tribute to Arthur. Maybe John still carries Arthur's journal. Maybe Dutch brings up how those last moments with Arthur. The look in his eyes, as he laid there on that mountain top, slowly dying haunts him, and how it's been slowly driving him insane. While holding the pipe that Arthur gave him. Maybe Dutch finally admits that he failed them all, and that he just wants it all to end. Maybe Dutch even goes as far to say that a part of him wishes that it ended at the end of John's gun. That dying by the hand of one of the people he failed is something he deserves. But John can't do it, so Dutch kills himself. I also think that Bill Williamson's lines need to be rewritten a bit in the first game. Because the character that he is in the first game, doesn't really match up with who he is in second game. Sure he's angry and a bit of a fool sometimes, but there's several moments where Bill seems to have more of a heart than Javier. I was surprised the first time I heard Bill express regret and sorrow for the loss of Sean and especially Kieran. A very different person from the Bill Williamson in the first game, who seemed more of the cold blooded murderous type. I understand that the events of the second game probably pushed Bill over the edge, but I think there needs to be a moment where Bill expresses what he's going through. In fact all the surviving members of the gang need to have moments of reflection on the events and characters in the second game.
Awesome video! People forget Arthur was modelled after John in a lot of ways, not in the story telling but from a practical standpoint as the original red dead came out in 2010 was it? So before you all flock to Arthur, remember John has one hell of a tale to tell and for me is everybit as good/badass as Arthur if not more. 2 sick characters.

RIP John Marston
I think everyone forgot about the most important death...
THE HORSE's death, The horse went with us on our journey almost everywhere
Javier didn't point his gun at them, if you didn't notice
U could've used the song "Compass" for this one. Its the song that is played when u finally deal with Dutch and return to your family in RDR
The OG marston
JOHN IS THE BEST CHARACTER IN ALL ROCKSTAR
After John came back saying Dutch left him, that shouldve changed Bill and Javier to Arthurs side
Especially after Micah shot Mrs. Grimshaw
They only cared about themselves they weren't choosing sides
Awesome
Awesome video! People forget Arthur was modelled after John in a lot of ways, not in the story telling but from a practical standpoint as the original red dead came out in 2010 was it? So before you all flock to Arthur, remember John has one hell of a tale to tell and for me is everybit as good/badass as Arthur if not more. 2 sick characters.
Arthur is better tbh but John is cool af too
You should’ve put John marston theme
2:04 you gotta love arthur
Hosea tribute
2:25 best part
Amazing :)
Remeber the main character of the story is john not arthur
''Get the hell out of here and be a goddamn man!''
Loved it.
Kieran saved Arthur
He sure did. I wonder if John remembers him
I love and hate Rockstar, damn, that's was sad.
