Was at the PNC it was a delight. Joe captured the sound and speed. Several times I closed my eyes and it was EVH. Thank you Joe and Sammy. What a great time.
@@tedcabana or in their “own” style. The heart and soul of VH is there. The interpretation is up to the individual. That being said, Satch is the only guitarist alive who is up to the task. We are blessed to have this dude around.
Freakin' love this song! I always love Sammy's vocals, I enjoy seeing his friendship with Michael Anthony on stage, I love seeing Joe working hard to pay tribute to one of the greatest guitarists ever, and I like seeing Jason as the backbone for them in this moment.
Seems like Joe learned those VH songs by ear and I like it that way, since they are not 100 or even 99 percent representing the original but that’s ok and a profound guitarist like him is allowed to make it his own representation. Loving this tour so far.
I hate the way people throw that term around - under-rated. But I think in this case... I would have to agree with you. This song has aged so well. It's an awesome classic, and a deeper cut in the catalogue. That's for sure. I love this song. They rocked it!
@@jimmyz2098 I think the song 5150 is underrated because in my opinion it is one of their best songs and it does not get as much radio play as a lot of their other songs.
Wanting some guitar dude that sits in his basement all day playing Mean Streets note for note…in 10 years that dude will still be a no name in his basement playing that lol!!! I was worried about Satch but he’s captured the feel of a VH song while still not losing what makes him a guitar great himself. Solid Band with Sammy that being a VH Lifer I do enjoy listening to this music again & these are the guys who do it well.
Me and my friends saw them in Toronto a couple of weeks ago. In my humble opinion, Joe Satriani was the only guitar player that could pull this off, as I was a big fan of his back in the 80s into the early 90s! Quite frankly, with the opening band being loverboy, which was amazing, I’m taking my other best friend down to Cincinnati to see them at the end of August! It was the best concert I have ever been to, Baron, and I’ve been to a shit ton of concerts !
Nice to have Ban Halen Continue!!! This we need to bring the world some happiness … RIP EDDIE….Great that they got Joe and John …, all stars to join the all stars!!!
You don't feel it's cheating to post a stupid cellphone recording ? Wow .... The audio is not what the engineers intended . The venues selling tickets to this nonsense .
I’m 64 now myself & have been listening to & following Sammy & Joe’s musical careers for many decades . Seeing this band’s lineup along with Michael Anthony is pure magic . Well done guys . Even the Drummer is killing it here with them .
I tell ya Gen X made some bad ass rock n roll for the ages. We may be a little older and grayer but we had the time of our lives. I think the last generation that can confidently say that
I think Satch is a steller godly guitarist. I'm so happy these guys are doing this. I went to atlanta show. Loved it. With that being said, not sure why Satch playing 5159 riff sounds like he misses a few notes? Is it hand placement? Attack? Many on RUclips dedicate their time to mimicking Eddie and I think Satch had a stopping point at mimicking Eddie. I get it. But what is it about this type of riff that is so signature to Eddie? It's the shape of his hand or the way his fingernail buzzes the string?? Also, jason is kick ass. One of my faves. He seems to avoid Alex's complexity. The tom fills, the double bass. Not sure why. I know he isn't trying to perfectly replicate Alex. But you'd think he'd match the complex parts and then "one up" Alex's parts with his modern improved take on it? He seems to go backwards in style. No offense. I do think he tried to get that snare sound and does a good job. I love his mega chrome kit. I totally loved Jason's album "disregard for timekeeping" in 1989. I memorized and played that album. I loved his drum sound. So pure. Also, it seems on songs like 5150 they end some sections early. Sort of strange. I think of Satriani as en expert and guitar teacher with technical ability in all styles where Eddie was only about being Eddie. I think Satch would beat Eddie in a guitar college course but Eddie wins in innovation of inventing the style there created Satch.
I think its partly because joe has the open d string going on that d chord inversion. Ed didnt finger it that way, ed still had the 5th (a note) of the chord fingered on the d string rather than leaving it open. I noticed on the howard stern performance thats how joe was doing it He’s definitely fingering that D chord differently than how eddie does, and i think there might be a few notes missing in that intro. In all honesty i could give a shit because the last time any vh fans heard this was probably in 1993 on the European tour.
Hagar saved by Michaels voice ;) And they're out there making money out of Van Halen and Led Zeppelin like Glenn Hughes with Deep Purple. Small artists in a big world ;)
Why? Roth was playing maracas on romeo delight and tambourine on so this is love during the 2007 tour so what’s the big deal. He’s providing help with backing vocals too for sam & mike so it would be kind of stupid to get rid of him.
Besides Eddie who was and always will be the coolest cat on the planet 🌎 Joe Satriani is imo one the few (as in maybe 3) that could take on this position in VH. His solo in “right now” is spot on every time he plays it. 💯🔥👊
Joe Satriani did a great job. He was very respectful to the late and great Eddie Van Halen.
Well done Joe
Yep, it takes a humble virtuoso to pull off what he is doing on this tour. Hence, Joe was the obvious choice.
Would've been even better with the pre-song noodling around....gotta set that feel, and get in the groove...that's when magic hit's that next level...
Only Joe should be allowed to play Eddie ! He captures the GLORY in EVH's master guitar work. Long Live VH Joe and of course Sammy
You can tell he takes it very seriously, while still enjoying himself
Was at the PNC it was a delight. Joe captured the sound and speed. Several times I closed my eyes and it was EVH. Thank you Joe and Sammy. What a great time.
WOW, JOE SATRIANI IS AMAZING,AMAZING AMAZING,AMAZING,AMAZING 1000%
Agreed. Joe is absolutely crushing it. Totally grabbed Eddie’s tone, but also remained himself at the same time.
Joe is proud to play Eddies stuffs
Joe just proving how good a guitar he always was.
Mike Anthony's voice is the sauce to all of these great VH songs
When I realized it was Satriani on the guitar I exploded with joy.... how cool that such a successful guy took on this challenge! the guy is too cool!
Satch is a GENIUS in his own right. If you didn't know before, NOW YOU DO!!!...J/S
Beautiful solo. Joe captured the rhythm and soul of 5150.
Just another day in the field for Joe! Schooling other VH fans how to play VH chops in a Satriabi style.

I think Eddie would approve
He's right there with them!
Yeah, Hes like, that guy got some of my stuff too but he's alright!
Hell Yeah!
Yeah he’s up there for sure ❤
nothing he can do

Sammy's voice sounds great. I live in the UK these days and sincerely wish they were bringing the shows over here! Thanks for sharing.
In the old days I was never a fan of this song. Fast forward nearly 40 years and it's one of my favorites now.

Wow Sounding Great! I am impressed that Joe has put so much work in! There will never be another Eddie but Joe you are amazing!!!!!!!!!!1
People really think that eddie is better than joe? That’s absurd really

Thanks to all of you guys for doing this! Great work and great sound!

Joe has been in my life since 1986. Now he's getting the credit!. Absolutely stunning perfomance. saw him in Toronto 2 weeks ago. Just brilliant!
Kudos to these guys. That was awesome.
Even in older age these guys are still tearing it up 🔥🔥🎸🎸
WOWWWWW! JOE!!!!!!!! 🤘🏻

Those boys are having a great time playing the tunes .fantatic job joe 🍺
Waiting in Phoenix August 20th!!!!

Que genial sería que Sammy Hagar & Michael Antony van halen incluyeran en forma constante

Well done mr satrianni eddie would be proud
Can’t believe I used to like this

Joe is a Master
Statch is incredible! Eddie put the signature stank on this riff tho
The beginning of this song takes me to a different place. Such a beautiful way to play, it creates a new world to see and feel.
There are very few guitarists who can play at Eddie Van Halen's level. Joe Satriani is one of them.
Awesome Job JOE!!
Can't wait to see you guys next month 😄
Wtf is up with Sammy changing the VH sign to SH? Guess it's all about Sammy. Sounds great though, Joe (not Biden lol) is doing awesome!
No digital modeling amps here...., good ole tube powered 3rd power amps! if digital modelers were better satriani would be using them.

I love Joe but the Eddie swing is missing

They probably won't come to Europe, because Satch and Vai are planning a european tour next year.
Jason did the fill too late😮?
Joe is great,did a great job,he respect Ed's work,well done,sure that EVH appréciation,we all think about him❤RIP❤
Sammy cant possibility sing these songs nightly on a full tour. He sounds like hes gonna pass out!

Let Eddie rest in peace, do your own music. The fans have the records.
I wonder if joe wears the shades to bed
Si alguien podía hacer un tributo a Van Halen ese es Joe Satriani...
With 2 VH members they should change their name to VH, present Pantera only has one member!
All depends on who owns the name, and I highly doubt that any of these guys do!

2 members!! 2 original members of Pantera! Rex Brown the bass player and Phil Anselmo, the lead singer!!!!

Bonham just doesn't have that Alex swing. Joe got closer to Ed than Jason did to Alex imo. Still, pretty decent band 👍
