Love the fact that you can crop the heck out of the pic. Did you try using the APS-C crop on the 85mm? You would have gotten almost 130mm with this feature
The good thing about these walk along videos are when photographers show the good & bad photos. It makes the video feel realistic.. No one gets every photo perfect.
Thanks for watching, and great comment too! Yeah I like to show both the good and the bad because it is much more realistic and sometimes very hard to capture an amazing shot.
Nice vid Alex! Interesting lens choice. Glad you chose the 85mm. I just got the 85mm GM f1.4 & looking forward to trying it out for street photography. Cheers.
I've got so much more to learn for street photography. I love your creative style and keen eye to spot so many good perspectives. Maybe one day I'll upgrade from my A7ii
Appreciate the kind words Michael! I also have a lot more to learn but each time I go out and shoot, I am practicing to get better. I used to have an A7ii and it is still very capable. Hold out for the A7iv whenever it comes out and I'm sure it'll be worth the upgrade!
Nice video. Thanks for showing the power of "The Crop." That is exactly why I bought this camera., it arrives tomorrow and I can't wait to test it. : )
The video I have been anxiously waiting for. This I was so nice. The crop factor is amazing. Now I am thinking of getting the Sony a7RIV. I love the Sony a7III but sometimes I wonder how nice it be to crazy crop some shots. Great video mate. Loved it!
I have tried street photography with 42 MP A7 R2,R3 but not R4 yet, but took the camera out for capture the birds while bird catching, I can certainly go crop crazy when shooting the birds, I crop from 61 MP to 24 MP, will try street photography with R4. Apart from large sensor and R4's major improvement is its auto focus, it is so snappy in acquire focus.
I am thinking to buy Sony A6000 ....n i saw all of ur videos too ...... actually i wanted a camera for both Photography n videography for RUclips content ......would uh recommend me this camera .....or any other else ?
A6000 is a great stills camera but lacking in video. Maybe look at some of the newer ones like a6300 that shoots 4k video? Or if you have a high budget the A7iii is by far the best hybrid camera for stills and video
Haha yeah I tend to linger around a bit to see what else can happen. But on shorter days when the light moves fast, I don't have that much time to wait around.
I'd like to hear your experiences managing the files (i.e. how much time does it take to offload images and process in Adobe). I want the A7riv and can get it at a very good price, but the file management concerns me (I'd rather have the a7iv with a 36-42 mp sensor).
Good question! I use dual UHS-II cards to get the most speed and at least USB 3.1 ports to transfer data. It doesn't take noticeably long to dump 128gb card. I have a pretty powerful system so there's really no slowdown. However LR and PS take a bit longer to process images compared to the a7iii where it is near instant. And if you are doing heavy retouching in PS, file sizes can get really large. Cold storage and cloud backups are slower due to the file sizes but I think it's worth it for the IQ.
I don't think its ideal to be doing heavy cropping all the time as it doesn't let you develop your compositional eye as well. Pushing your comfort zone and getting closer to your subject to get the framing that you actually wanted will not only allow you to keep all of your megapixels (if you decide to do large prints and want them to be as sharp as possible) but it will also potentially present new photo ideas.
it does not need to be special. some days you walk away with bangers, and sometimes you don't. I personally thought a couple of his photos had very good characteristics.
Thanks for the feedback! By no means do I claim to be the best. I am simply trying to share some perspective on the gear used and my thought process. Hopefully some can find intrinsic value in that
I think this is what photography has come to. Just a comical art with heavy photoshop that takes the photo out of photography. I love these walk & shoot videos, but I'd rather more photos & less talking .. Just a lil .
Is a7r iv overkill for street photography? Let me know what you think!
Alex Zhang I think it’s the 85mm that’s overkill. But any lens will do if it’s what you’ve got attached to the camera at the moment of shoot.
@@genghis2510 Haha good point! I like to switch it up and use different lenses. It helps me see things differently and puts the lenses to good use!

Wow nice! I wish I could own that beast of a lens. I rented one for a bit and it is truly special.
I like your style. It's subtle and tastesful.
You are a good photographer, respect man
Thank you! I really appreciate that.
Another great vid! I love that train station with those pocket of lights, also that shot of a man with cane under the bridge.
Much love! The light was great that day. Thanks for watching ☺️

Awesome! I’m a Nikon user, but loved the video. Wow megapixels on the Sony! I do street photography and will have to try a 85mm
Thanks! Doesn't matter what camera you use, the techniques and tips in the video are still relevant! Nikon has some pretty nice gear
Awesome commentary dude!
Thanks! I try to walk others through my process but sometimes it's hard to articulate
Very nice! are you shooting in manual throughout or any priority mode?

Thanks, glad you found it helpful! You can use crop mode in camera and sill get 26mp files
nice snaps! Im a canon guy but still love sony!
Thanks! Canon is awesome too ☺️
love doing street/urban with the a7riv...paired with the Tamron 17-28 it's killer
Yeah def an amazing every day combo!
Dude I’m not gonna lie, i was very very on the fence if i should get this camera or the Leica q2 but I MUST get this based on the photography i do.
You've made me reassess this camera. Major wannit now.

Bro I was thinking of doing street photography and I am on a budget is the RX100 mark 7 is better or as good as a similarly priced mirrorless
What mode are you using, Auto?
3:33 & 8:26 was my favourite! Wow, that A7R IV is dope 😅
Thanks for watching! Appreciate your comment 🙏

good eye on the one with the two people in the window at the train station. i personally would have gotten impatient and walk away.

Why not shoot with Leica M?
after the watch this video i subscribed your channel with bell notification 🔔 😛
Hey man thanks a lot! Really appreciate that
