Small form factor meets elegant design, the Fractal Design Terra is a tiny but very capable 10.4L case. Over the last year I've had SO many requests for SFF (ITX) builds, but due to launch of the 4000 series and their insane size it has been almost impossible. That has now changed! The Terra's unique moveable motherboard tray design brings the best of both worlds, allowing smaller profiled CPU coolers, or GPU's depending on the priority, love that!
For this build I opted for the Noctua NH-L9x65, an extremely capable small form CPU cooler which is near inaudible with sufficient performance for the i5 13600KF.
The Terra's design means cooling is excellent throughout. The lack of case fans may seem confusing, but you have to understand that the chassis it's self provides natural convection cooling too. As the hardware heats up, the case becomes a path for the heat to escape through, only further optimised through the GPU & CPU fan forcing more air out of the chassis.
This is a first time for me using a contact frame on the CPU also. I wouldn't usually build with these as I find them a little hard to justify most of the time, however, I felt that in this assembly the extra heat dissipation provided by the contact frame would be welcomed! If you choose to do this yourself, PLEASE take extra care and above all, take your time.
Fractal Design really hit the spot for me with the Terra. A truly unique design ID with excellent craftsmanship throughout.

To wrap this up, the Fractal Design Terra brings unique looks, solid performance and small footprint without compromising on hardware support. The build process was relaxing, intuitive and actually really good fun! I adore the wood touches as we've previously come to enjoy from the North chassis, which makes the Terra up there with one of my favourite chassis so far in 2023!
This build may even find it's self as my new personal gaming PC!

Fractal has been killing it lately. Torrent is a monster airflow case, followed by the beautiful North, and now we get something for the itx crowd for people who like the wood aesthetics of the North.
You forgot to mention the ridge lol. But yeah they've been doing good, except for the crappy ERA ITX case

@@napkinlover yes, they are going to be a thing 😁 I imagine the release will be sometime in Q3 but that’s not confirmed. The team at Lian-Li were enthusiastic to bring them to market though!

If it's one thing I can almost guarantee with this hobby is, with age you start longing for less bling and rgb. SFF builds are just so much cleaner imo, and I wish I had jumped on the bandwagon years ago.

6:05 and 9:39 A little hint: Attach the two fractal-hexa-spacers (7mm) between the power supply-holder and the powersupply.
The airflow from the GPU then gets past the powersupply much better. Otherwise you did a very good job here. Many greetings from germany.

The set up is amazing!!! I started assembling an all-black pc because of you, it's really nice and clean as a design. there are just the rams that illuminate the interior in white like the black out build you make. I'm just waiting to receive my Asus Dual RTX 4070 OC (because of micro atx case and build) to complete my configuration. I can't wait to see the future builds you're going to do with the pc cases shown at the computex!! See you !

Matt, thanks for that video! I can't believe it though, I build my own system using the Fractal Design Terra before you did. You always seem to be so quick off the mark in building a system when a new case comes out, even before the cases are generally available to the public. I must have seen the announcement on the same day the cases were released locally, and immediately ordered one. While I guess you were delayed due to needing to fly back from Taipei.
My only complaint about the case is that it doesn't have a setting for no GPU, where all the space is given for a CPU cooler. I recently had a need to get a portable system to take on the road, strictly to be used for software development, and the iGPU on the Intel CPU is plenty for that use, so I want a 13900K and a tall air cooler, but only low profile coolers will fit, due to the lack of a no GPU setting.
I went with the same Asus motherboard as you, and also the same Thermalright CPU frame. Now I need to find a good Pelican style carrying case to use when transporting the system along with keyboard and accessories. This is my first ITX system, and I thought I'd never want one, but when the need came, and Fractal Design made the right case, I'm quite pleased with the result. Aesthetically, your build is of a much higher quality than mine, but for this system, the inside isn't so visible, so I decided to go with what works best, and not worry about the aesthetics.

Excellent video and build, one of the finest I have seen in some time. Only thing I would like to see is a couple more USB and Type C ports out the front of that case and to know how quiet the overall system is when gaming! Small and quiet are key for me and this one is a great setup. Too bad liquid cooling wasn't an option in that small case.
