- "Thermostat Replacement" - Chevy Aveo -- I replaced my Thermostat in this video. (!!!Don't Forget to put anti-Freeze Back in the Engine once you have your new thermostat on !!! Then start your engine and add more anti-freeze as needed. Put Coolant Tank lid back on and check for LEAKS!!!) Its a fairly easy replacement to do. I would use the plastic bag Idea (or try a paper funnel) to catch the fluid, To direct it where you want it to go. I had to move the cardboard to get the bottom bolt off. The anti-freeze coming out got a little messy. A smaller extender would be better, but it was the only one I had. Mine didn't need it just doing regular maintenance. I try to do small things like this, it keeps me off the side of the road. I will keep an eye on all hoses to make sure they are still in good condition. My car is getting older. (I can't believe all the Aveo's that are still on the road! I saw a lot of them around work time rush hour. Daily drivers using them for work.)
Good luck everyone!
Wow you have covered every problem that I faced, before 2 years in the middle of the trip I saw the temperature guage which was too hot and automatically my car turned off... When I opened the coolant reservoir it was empty. So I poured water for emergency, suddenly a pressurized gas releasing sound & notes that the Thermostat broken.
And my heart also broken 💔....
Because i think it's broken because of me, a poured water suddenly with out allowing it to cool down, so I think it breaks because of the sudden pressure 😂
Now I am going to feature travel by watching all of your videos and going buy and stock the parts which make me to replace easily.
Hey there. I had exact same thing happen to me last night. Did replacing this fox the issue!?
@@Anthony-eg7pw traveled to hilly area and forget to check the topup coolant. So engine gets hot and turned off. On pouring water in radiator suddenly to the hot engine thermostat cracked (I don't know it cracked due to the sudden water pour or it's already broken) after new thermostat replacement everything is perfect.
That's a great idea🙂. That's what I always try to do too! Thank you so much for your comment! My channel gets no money. It helps me if I get people just watching my videos 🙂. Thanks so much. I love helping people
Probably broken already and that's why you lost anti-freeze! Happy you got her fixed🙂
Thanks. I have not done this before but thanks for the video to make me more confident. Looks like a breeze (minus the mess)
It wasn't bad at all.
Just got an 06 Aveo LT in black. Great vids ...
Thanks. There's a lot of them still on the road.
@@Olly.sunshine ever have issues with an intermittent cut out at idle ? It does it a red
lights in drive, of my automatic. I have put it in neutral and it lessens it. Other than that, it runs well.
Check your map sensor connectors for cracks. Also check EGR tube for pinholes.
This is definitely worth doing.
Yes it is. Mine had the plastic one. I heard they were messing up. Thanks for watching. I have other good tips on Aveo repairs.
Will this fix my thermostat issue as well!? All with replacing this housing
The thermostat is in the housing on this one.
I'm hoping someone could answer this... do I need to put high tack on this?
Just use the o ring that comes with it. I didn't use any.
The first hose that you put first the small where does it go at the back ? I need to replace it
I no longer have my Aveo. What I suggest is AveoForum.com they have lots of people helping each other there. please look on Google for a diagram also.
Seems easy!,even the timing belt is easy
Yeah no what year is this bc my thermostat is not over there
@@KingSaucy1 2006
Do you need any sealer?
No there is a gasket that comes with it.
Could this the issue of why mine keeps turning off
There are a lot of different reasons your car could be cutting off. Do you have any other information about what happened before it started cutting off?
I have an Aveo LS 2008 my car would run normal but it would heat up and the arrow doesn’t move up warning me and water would fall out the cap is screwed tightly what would you recommend?
Also the water tank doesn’t have any holes and it’s still brand new the water tank
Ok you said it's brand new. I got a new one the new cap didn't work right. It would constantly unloosen. I took that one back. If you have the old cap try that one. If not you may have to take that one back and redo your job. I'm pretty sure that's what I had to do. Pretty crappy the cap on the one tank wouldn't stay tightened. Maybe this is what's going on. Or it could be your radiator fan is not working.
Are you talking about the coolant tank? ruclips.net/video/xPV9nHLmJrY/видео.html
@@Olly.sunshine yes it the coolant it able to tighten up when I need to refill but it only happen to me two time that it would start to bubble up and spill up through the cap and all over the ground
Not sure maybe was low of antifreeze or radiator fan has an intermittent problem. Hopefully you'll get it fixed.
Will it remove HOLD Sign in dashboard
No. Check the Aveo forum on Google someone there may be able to help. I'll look into it also.
@@Olly.sunshine can't find
Check your intake hose going to the air filter. If you have a crack there it can cause the hold light to come on also.
Here's the link for the Aveo forum. There's a lot of info there too.🙂 www.aveoforum.com/forum/f76/hold-light-flashing-21496/
Did you try pressing the hold button that is next to the shifter to turn off "Hold" light in dash?
Thanks so much I think I can do this👼
What year Aveo are you doing this on?
2006 Aveo LS
Well, wish me luck. I'm about to change my thermostat. It does look quite simple but i can work a playstation better than working on a car
Good luck
@@Olly.sunshine well it's done and i must say, im proud of myself. Thank you gor the help.
