"Today, I'm an old woman." I fucking love that line. He doesn't just flat out say he's the devil but rather uses implications pointing to it. Also the walkie falling down from the roof of the elevator so he could admit his wrong and repent HAD to have been divine intervention. The cop who's family was killed by this dude being there to listen and finally found his family's killer also could not have been a coincidence.
No such thing as coincidence. Everything happens for a reason, though we may not know why until much further down the road, or until the very end. God being a loving Father gives us MANY chances to accept the truth and accept Him. How many times has someone avoided a tragedy just from a stumble, or some sort of delay? How many people avoided something like 9/11 just because they had car problems or sudden or unexplainable illnesses or SOMETHING, that they didn't go into the WTC or the place of the eventual tragedy? In 1995 my class was going on a field trip downtown to an Orchestra concert. We had issues with our busses and while we were waiting, the April 19th OKC bombing occurred

The creepiest thing about this part was the detective and guard couldn't hear their conversation in the elevator. Just saw a creepy "woman" rising from the dead.
Watching this in the movie theater was absolutely crazy. The part when she revealed herself... the whole place gasped and was dead silent. Nobody moved ! People were walking out of there at the end saying NOTHING. If there is any kind of spirituality within the viewers, this movie really does make you think about the choices and decisions you've made in your own life. The ppl in the movie theater when I saw this for sure were thinking it bcz they weren't saying a DAMN thing when walking out. One other thing, my car was on the fifth floor of the lot. Did I take the elevator ?! NOO !!
TRUE STORY: I got on an elevator with a crowd of people I didn't know once. As the elevator was going down I said, has anybody here seen the movie devil. Its about a group of people getting stuck on an elevator on a high rise and one of the occupants is the devil disguised as an old woman and every time the lights went out, someone died. I swear, everybody turned their heads and looked at the oldest woman on the elevator. Nobody said a word.
Jeremiah Mendez no you dumbass the devil made it look like it was dead and eventually picked off everyone one by one making whenever it got dark and bc no one would’ve suspected a old dead lady of doing anything
I think one of the best parts about this movie is the fact that the two security guards are seeing everything. Alot of times in horror movies only the main character goes through these scary terrifying horrific moments but the reality of "oh shit other people are seeing this too" making it a true reality and not a possible figment of imagination is the real horror that gets me.
BobbyStacking Bands The lady disappears from the elevator in the end, there by no corporeal form, even if she were during the movie. A possessed body would have been found in the elevator after the devil left. Use your head.

yeah none of those people were the devil the devil was in the elevator but not in them at the end she possessed the old lady who was dead the 4 people that died in that elevator all go to hell except for the veteran because he got forgived you probably already know this. it's very true bad things happen for a reason.
youre wrong, the old lady was the devil, it didn't possess her dead body at all. When they open the elevator doors you can see that the old lady is gone, her body is not even on the floor with the other 3 dead bodies. The cop even says "where did she go". At one point in the film the cops think that the old lady is called jane kowski, and they think that the man who survived in the elevator didn't sign himself in that day, but they later on discover they made a mistake that the man did in fact sign in as janekowski and that the old lady didn't sign in at all. In a scene that happens right before this video starts a woman comes into the room and she tells the cop that the man in the elevator is her fiance and that his name is Tony. The cop asks her what Tonys last name is to which she says janekowski, the cop says "jane kowski is janekowski? He signed in. Then who is"... So cleary the devil did take the form of an old woman. The character Ramirez does the narration at the beginning of the movie, he says "When I was a child, my mother would tell me a story about how the Devil roams the Earth. Sometimes, she said, he would take human form so he could punish the damned on Earth before claiming their souls. The ones he chose would be gathered together and tortured as he hid amongst them, pretending to be one of them. I always believed my mother was telling me an old wives' tale... My mother's story would always begin the same way, with a suicide paving the way for the Devil's arrival. And it would always end with the deaths of all those trapped."
bekindrewind If you want to watch another movie kind of like this one, there's an awesome Denzel Washington movie that's similar. It's called "Fallen."
the fact that she said damn I really wanted you makes me think that the devil only does take bad souls and if you atone for what you have done and accept the consequences then he can't take you
Tahtsani Lee Nobody ever seems to think maybe god is the devil, or the devil is god. It's all spoon-fed propaganda created to instill a sense of morality and hope in a cold dark world. If there was a god, my two year old son would still be alive.
Sheeple People everyone dies at some point of their life. Look, I like to call it a life line made by God, on that line at some point that line is no longer going that is when you pass away. If your son died at 2 that is very sad, and I feel so so bad, your baby boy is waiting for you in Heaven, so if you choose to follow the path of God you will spend eternity with God, Jesus, your son and be comforted and Loved so much by everyone else in Heaven. So if you want to be with your son you will listen to God, and pray at night, and Repent and ask God for your sins, and just because you can't see God doesn't mean he isn't here with you helping you. Have faith in God and he will have faith in you. Hope you choose God. Trust me you will be influenced to not believe in our God, but he is real. Please listen.
is it just me, or did anyone notice how the order of the 5 ppl entering the elevator foreshadowed what order they'll die? like: the creepy guy and the old lady went in first (first two to die), then the security guard (third to die), then the woman, then lastly the guy who repented...? (tho he's the only one who lived)
"I really wanted you" I know its not the greatest movie I will admit that, but lines like that make it stick to you for a while. With that line, it made me think the reason the devil really wanted him was because of how close he was to being forgiven in the eyes of their God. Imagine how delicious it would of been if he didn't repent. If he didn't confess. If he took that truth to his grave and the dude would of never known who killed his wife and son. But instead he confessed. He wanted to barter to save a life. He didn't expect to be saved or to be forgiven and in what he assumed was going to be the last moments of his life before he goes to hell he confesses. And in the end I don't think the devil could be too angry with the development. I mean, with how calm it was in the end before disappearing? It may of been acting angry and etc to scare him. To make him back down. And when he didn't? Well, it was a good game.
The Devil wasn't too worried cuz he knew there will be those who don't feel for repentance nor will ever change for good. In his mind he was probably saying "Shit, this one slipped thru my fingers. I've got another 2-3 million faithless, damned souls to follow up on...." *Disappears with a flicker of the lights*
Don't you guys know why each person died? Vince was a scam artist, the old woman ( the devil ) was a thief, Ben ( guard ) put someone in a coma with a baseball bat when he was little, Sarah ( young woman ) was a blackmailing liar and thief. Tony ( hooded guy ) did not die because the accident was a huge and pure mistake. The devil could only take bad people. EDIT: I do realize now that I didn't go into a full explanation into Tony's backstory, but I didn't have to since someone else already explained it. Thank you :).
+Munira Shah Tony did something worse than anyone. Even if it was an accident, he ran and didn't own up to it. (I actually don't remember if it was his fault or not because it doesn't matter.) What does matter: He confessed, and owned up to it, and was sorry. His repentance, not his innocence, was why the devil lost him.
Alex Harvey Yeah, I remember the first time I watched this movie I thought the old woman was the devil all along. The second time I watched it, I noticed that it was stated that the old woman was a thief before she was possessed.
Was I the only one who got upset when the cop said "were did she go" like he expected her to be in there with her hands up waiting on him to arrest her? How you see all this and your still an unbeliever. My goodness
After earth, the last airbender, lady in the water, the happening and this all very bad movies. Wouldn’t say he’s a genius but he has a few good movies this just ain’t one of them
Remember people God will forgive you for anything if you are truly sorry for your actions and the Devil will tell you anything to make you doubt your faith in yourself and God.
Tony’s confession of his hit and run crime and willingness to pay the price for it literally saved his Soul. What more appropriate entity than the Devil himself would say “Damn!” ?
Hated the way she glared at him.... very clever acting and casting. Loved it but was terrified at the same time. Plus the main guy looks like tom hardy :D... made me smile lol
Good movie !!! I do believe in God and the Devil and I think this is probably an accurate description on what you would see meeting him face to face in a human form.
So much religious 💩 here! Unbelievable! Mankind stood up from a chemical soup 1 Million years ago and if your life ends it’s over! Do you remember the days before your birth? No! And you won’t see anything again after your death! Mankind is nothing in this big universe, we make ourselves more important than we are! If we were the children, the product of a mighty creature, a god, you really think he would just sit back and watch thousands of kids dying every day? Innocent kids!? We are alone and should do the best with our life we got from nothing but evolution!
I have been scared by two movies in my adult life: The Strangers was one, and this was the other. This movie wasn't that good, but this is the CREEPIEST scene ever filmed.
you'd think devil would reward people for doing evil, and made sure everyone knew, you do bad hell will be your heaven, that's how you do the most damage.
I love moments where people who do t believe in the supernatural encounter something supernatural, but they dont wanna believe it, and try to understand what happened, but they cant.
One of those underrated gems you say u don't wanna watch and then when u do it just blows u away everything about this movie to me is amazing and crazy as hell
The scariest part when I first saw it was she was like stop saying that then she was like you think this would make you good you not good she was like close range all in his face you think you can be forgiven
If you aren't saved and haven't accepted Jesus as Lord be extra careful, because in the twinkling of an eye your soul can depart this world and you will lift your eyes in a burning Hell. No one knows what the next minute will bring, but once you're there it's no escape. Satan's biggest achievement, as much as I hate to admit it, is preying on weak minded people and non-believers and having them believe he isn't real. Please remember God is real also and all we have to do is repent of your sins and believe & accept Jesus Christ as His only Begotten Son and as Lord & Savior, then keep God's Commandments.
I only speak about what I know is true; also the Word of God does not and will not be argued over because that's not the type of God He is. He comes to us in love & truth, not confusion and unrest and condemnation. Just because you assume something isn't real or 'there' doesn't mean that it isn't BUT that's the beauty of freewill. We all have to see the light of Christ on our own, no one can do it for us, but we often come to believe when it's too late. Be blessed my brother and have a nice day.
Seriously, this movie scared me so much, each time I see it as a choice in Netflix I try not to even look at the cover screen. This movie is crazy as hell...
I thought it was her from the beginning. It's always the least expected person we all know that. Or you should. Then I got thrown off when she "died" and thought it was the younger girl. This scene was scary as shit and when she says "STOP SAYING THAT" I jump every time. I thought it was a good movie. But I barely ever watch movies so what do I know lol
One of my favorite thriller/horror movies I've seen in the past 10 years. It's an incredibly clever Whodunnit with a nice story and good actors. I truly recommend watching the whole movie.
The cop forgave him, not just because he's had time to grieve and forgive but because he knows there's nothing on this earth that could possibly come close to the punishment he just went through caused by the devil themself.
Don't really know about the forgiving part, but I don't think that cop belived that the old woman was the devil, if he did he wouldn't have tried to arrest her or screamed where did she go at the end.
"Damn. I really wanted you." Just the way she said that...you can tell the devil had some painful plans for Anthony
Brandon Layne The problem is that now the Devil can't touch him. He confessed his sins and was truly repentant. He'll pay for his sins in this life, so he'll be liberated in the next.

This is my favorite scene of the whole movie
" If there is a God there is a devil"
"If there is a devil there is a God
Sheeple People I ment Repent and ask God for forgiveness of your sins.
+Nicole Young But the baby boy at 2 couldn't accept Jesus into his heart. So he's in hell? Since we're all born into sin
+Adam Colquitt babies are born with the blood of Christ poured on them until the age of knowing when the baby knows right and wrong from sin
is it just me, or did anyone notice how the order of the 5 ppl entering the elevator foreshadowed what order they'll die? like: the creepy guy and the old lady went in first (first two to die), then the security guard (third to die), then the woman, then lastly the guy who repented...? (tho he's the only one who lived)
You know the Devil is coming for you when you drop toast and it lands upside down on the floor...
Shit man, I dropped my toaster and it landed upside down, I got to go get some holy water from my toilet
The
Devil wasn't too worried cuz he knew there will be those who don't feel for repentance nor will ever change for good. In his mind he was probably saying "Shit, this one slipped thru my fingers. I've got another 2-3 million faithless, damned souls to follow up on...." *Disappears with a flicker of the lights*
this guy is poor man's Tom Hardy
Isn't it weird? He's like a fucking identical twin.
David Davidson it's insane
They say everyone's got a doppleganger but I wonder what the odds are that both dopplegangers end up as actors in Hollywood.
Daniel Korolev I see you went to the Prometheus School of Commenting. *Ding*
Daniel Korolev he tried to rape Marissa
can anyone hear the second voice when the old lady talks ?
Damian Guerrero I actually went back and re-watched the vid when I saw your comment and yup. I hear it too.
What it say?
Naw bruh we deaf
yes its to make it sound more devil-y of course
It's like an echo
Who else jumped at “YOU THINK YOU CAN BE FORGIVEN” lol
I totally did! The way she said it was so bone chilling!
Me
Who knew an old lady could be so scary
i swear this guy looks like tom hardys younger brother.
The only way to live is if you confress your sins to the devil
Alex Harvey Yeah, I remember the first time I watched this movie I thought the old woman was the devil all along. The second time I watched it, I noticed that it was stated that the old woman was a thief before she was possessed.
King Noodle why would you confess your sins to the devil instead of god, that just makes things worst😂
Vince was such a dork
"Today I am an old woman"
"Stooop saying that!!"
"You think you can be forgiven"
"Damn I really wanted you"
Was I the only one who got upset when the cop said "were did she go" like he expected her to be in there with her hands up waiting on him to arrest her? How you see all this and your still an unbeliever. My goodness
Nothing's scarier than being in an elevator and seeing a 500 LB person get on.
pure nightmare..
I'd say nah big bro you need the stairs in your life Jesus ain't gonna save you from this fall
@@jackcoopecooper7320 And I'd remind you to 'judge not, lest ye be judged'.
@@veeeks2938 and I'd remind you " thou elevator can notith holdith thy combined weightith"
At that moment, you know you’re in serious danger.
This scared. The crap outta me haha love this scene
Same here, especially when she just stares at him like that.
I am sitting alone here in the dark and everyone slept already. I have no idea why i clicked this freaking video.
Look how many likes you have bro 😔
BassHunter Me too
I don't care what anyone says, this movie was actually really great. Fantastic cast all around.
This is the brilliant ending.... Mr. Shyamlan is genius 👍👍👌👌
Billy Hargrove except for the avatar the last air bender
After earth, the last airbender, lady in the water, the happening and this all very bad movies. Wouldn’t say he’s a genius but he has a few good movies this just ain’t one of them
The final scene is what really makes this movie--the moment where the cop finds forgiveness.
The 2 of them were both saved.
Is this really the dialogue?
"Take me"
"I intend to"
"No, take me instead."
Well, it's a religuous wankfest movie. Don't expect anything good
Richard Shiflett also written by M. Night Shyamalan.... so there’s that
Nick W. nope.
I get what you’re trying to say, but the dialogue makes sense. His acting is just horrid though.
Aaron Shouting who the hell is McKnight Himilayan
Remember people God will forgive you for anything if you are truly sorry for your actions and the Devil will tell you anything to make you doubt your faith in yourself and God.
GO SATAN!
Stfu with this BS.
so much trolls these days xDXDXDXDXDXDXD
So Satan would maybe get some people to write a book that tells you that if you are truly sorry for your actions you will be forgiven.
+Артём Водоватов what he means is that the old lady (devil) turned everyone against each other.
I do believe in God and the Devil and I think this is probably an accurate description on what you would see meeting him face to face in a human form.
lmfaooo how can u not believe when everything Jesus said has been coming to pass Lucifers best trick was makeing the world believe hes not real
please dude. keith. stop
1:20 intense heart attack.
3:03 The way the devil woman fixed her hair after raising hell in that elevator
Devil "you soul is m...."
God "sorry but confession is good for the soul"
Devil "but I really wanted it"
this is the best ending to any fucking horror flick
No not at all but it's a good one
HIGH TENSION
I have been scared by two movies in my adult life: The Strangers was one, and this was the other. This movie wasn't that good, but this is the CREEPIEST scene ever filmed.
+Cameron Alexander yeah i know how you feel. I think it scares me more because i believe in heaven and hell
The strangers was terrible this movie is ok. They are way scaryer movies out there
The Ring and Sinister scared me the most but this scene probably affected me the most
you'd think devil would reward people for doing evil, and made sure everyone knew, you do bad hell will be your heaven, that's how you do the most damage.
He will never reward anyone. No matter how wicked. He’s a snake
I love moments where people who do t believe in the supernatural encounter something supernatural, but they dont wanna believe it, and try to understand what happened, but they cant.
tears me up whenever I watch him make that confession.
same here, takes one to know one right
stop saying that!!!!
“STOP SAYING THAT!!!”
I choked on my cereal.
I made toast today but I accidentally dropped the toast and it landed jelly side down... am I screwed?
it landed jelly side down more on, because the side with the Jelly is heavier and gravity made it land that way
2right4words and also because the devil.
goodfella21f lol ya'll still believe in those things?
The devil went down an elevator
Cause he was lookin’ for a soul to steal
Comic Forts
When he came across this young man
Sawin’ on the fiddle and playin’ it hot
This is the only part of the move worth watching. Thanks.
Seriously, this movie scared me so much, each time I see it as a choice in Netflix I try not to even look at the cover screen. This movie is crazy as hell...
this is the best movie it gives me goosebumps
Imagine your on a elevator and some women decides to all of a sudden be the devil.
+LoveeBug14 I thought it was either Tony or Sarah, but I loved the ending, just proves that evil can be in the sweetest things
one of the best movie theater experiences. totally loved the twist/reveal.
3:06 you can see the fright on his face. When he noticed that he faced the devil.
You sure can and it's funny as hell! He's like wtf
One of my favorite thriller/horror movies I've seen in the past 10 years.
It's an incredibly clever Whodunnit with a nice story and good actors. I truly recommend watching the whole movie.
Such an underrated movie. One of my favorites of all time for sure.
*STOP SAYING THAT* BROUGHT GOOSEBUMPS TO MY ARMS.
This scene gives me chills everytime the old lady eyes and voice and the way she just came up man make me think the old broad talkin and lookin at me
The cop forgave him, not just because he's had time to grieve and forgive but because he knows there's nothing on this earth that could possibly come close to the punishment he just went through caused by the devil themself.
Don't really know about the forgiving part, but I don't think that cop belived that the old woman was the devil, if he did he wouldn't have tried to arrest her or screamed where did she go at the end.
The cop realized that the guy who killed his wife and child truly felt sorry for what he did and realized he is a struggling human being.
Never think that you can escape from your sins. We are all judged in the end.
When me and my mom watched this I couldn’t explain how caught off guard I was y’all have no clue
Guilt produces fear which makes humans feel remorse for their wrong-doings.
I've looked for this movie for so long after first seeing it about 7 or 8 years ago
1:46 When you live in a third world country and your grandma catches you feeding the chickens her vegetable soup.
Jonathon Rojas lol 😂😂XD
😂😂😂
lol
This scene still gives me Goosebumps and chills everytime I watch it. Riveting display
🎉😂😢🎉😢 1:01 😢😢😢🎉😊😂😢😢 1:01 😢🎉 1:01 🎉😊😂😢😢🎉😂
bro i remember my mom making me watch this in elementary school and i was deadass scared of my grandma for so long
I guess I'll be sleeping with the lights on tonight.
+Lyric عبد العليم oh my god I seriously had nightmares after I saw this.
Lyric عبد العليم: just don't get on your knees, cause he's under your bed.
I have seen this movie before and it still makes me scream when she says "stop saying that"
Wow! This is one intense movie! Absolutely love it! Great work! God bless all.
When I first watched this I knew it was the old lady. The devil will always appear to be someone or something you never expect.
Devil: Damn I wanted you
STOP SAYING THAT!!! That voice is so chilling and spooky
I randomly bought this years ago ina dvd bargain bin i was surprised to actually enjoy it
Ok this part was the most best , but it also is the part that kept me up all night😍
I saw this movie in the theaters it scared the crap outta of me
Such an underrated film. Never heard of it until Netflix
That look she gives the girl is so filled with spite that it hurts to see it.
“You’ll live. You’ll live, but _she’s mine.”_
