Hi. I need your support. I'd like to build an Infrared soldering station (or IR pre-heater) and as a controller board would like to use a Omron E5C series controllers. I will use 2 controllers: one for lower heater (1500-2000W) and one for upper heater (500-600W). After reading and searching find out that E5C controllers have different configurations: E5CC-RX2ASM-800 (-801, -802, -880), E5CC-QX2ASM-800 (-801, -802, -880), E5CC-CX2ASM-800 (-804) etc.
    So my question:
    1. What is the difference between those configurations and which of them is more suitable for my application?
    2. Which of them have ability to turn the second controller On/Off?
    3. Does type or length of themocoples (I mean different application of the same K type thermocouple) affect the temperature readings of the controllers? I mean does it have strictly determined type of thermocouple with the certain length?
I already have a IR heater from Chinese manufacturer but after failing its thermocouple and installing another one it started to show incorrect temperature parameter and to drift. Not good for this type of operations.
Just to be clear heater will operate between 0-250 degrees Celsius in heating mode (thermocouple will be on a circuit board) and my plan is to turn On the second board (upper heater) with the signal from the first one. When the lower heater hits the certain temperature, say 150 degrees C it turns On the upper heater and that will take the temperature up to 200-225 Degrees C). My heaters at the beginning will be ceramic heaters (because I already have them) and later on will switch on to halogen IR light bulbs.
Can you please help and advise. Thanks in advance.
