- Today I challenged @Alpharad @Smallant and @cjya to play through a completely normal Super Mario Odyssey level. Little did they know it was actually a maliciously designed troll level. Who do you think can finish the level fastest?

There fact that Alpharad actually figured out the poison room just by rational thinking instead of blind luck is honestly really impressive

I've seen SimpleFlips play enough Mario 64 troll hacks that I immediately guessed the correct solution after seeing 1 death on the platforms. This trick has been overdone, so some romhacks try various things to freshen up the concept. One hack alternates which texture is the safe ground multiple times along the path. There is still a tell, but you wouldn't be looking for it immediately.

I'm glad that when they reached the final room, my first thought was that the banner was there to remind them as a way to make them hesitate and you can't die. It was the most trolly thing to do.

I find it funny that Alpha at the start was saying how "Fair" the competition was with it being a Mario Odyssey Race, yet he was the winner because he catches onto gimmicks so quickly

Pretty cool with the leap of faith puzzle at the end! I actually thought about it before they tried it, since the platform path puzzle already reminded me of The Last Crusade.
i love how in this video you can see who plays smo more than others. smant and cj both call the door room pick a pipe, while jacob calls it lost woods. i think that theyre the only one that calls it that is real fuckin funny
The last room was so obviously a bluff :D it's not like it's _that_ long to restart completely anyways, I'd just try it.
The maze could take forever to do a second time and when it's the final room, dying while your competitors live is a huge set back

This level makes my troll brains go :)).
Maybe, make the goal to collect all 4 moons, give 1 moon at the end of the psych out room, add a fake twice-twice (make the platforming a little different), get that sense of hopelessness, that you're going to spend way more than 1 hour on this level, and just put a complete copy of 2nd room to let the player second guess the room. Lastly, just add 3 moons / story moons after the 2nd room door. Get the player confused/stunned for the end of the level

Tbh i think this was great but i feel like there was a lot more you could have done with the door room or just not had it at all
The other rooms felt like there was some kinda puzzle or something to figure out, the door room was just...wasting time and being frustrating lol
The correct door had less space between itself and the door to its left compared to every other door
