- Chop marks certainly add character to coins that don them. It's hard not to wonder where the coin has been and what stories it has to tell. In this video, Rich, owner of The Gold Depot in Crown Point, Indiana shows off some 8 Reales and Trade Dollars he recently purchased at the ANA World's Fair of Money in Chicago. Watch this video to see some interesting examples of these and coins and more. Whether you are an expert or novice when it comes to chop marks, I hope you enjoy this coin collecting video.

Very cool chop marked coins. The Spanish coinage remained legal tender in the US right into the 1830’s.
Wow! That’s really cool to know. Thanks for sharing!
Legal until 1857
I learned of the chop marks from one of Aloha’s vids. Coins with chop marks are just fascinating. It is great that you got to meet SGT Stacking at ANA Chicago.
Yes. That’s the first place I learned about them. Yes, SGT is cool as heck!
Same bro 🤙
Wonderfully done my good sir!!! That 1808 reales chopmarks looking like acne break out. Now I definitely am a big fan of the chopmarks and think that if you can trace a provenance of that piece of history especially like you two talked about with the ship merchants. So AWESOME!!! Thank you T& shout out to Rich!!!
Thanks buddy! I really enjoy learning about the history. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Good to see T..🥈🇲🇽🥇 and Rich again in the shop video cool u got those new Libertads 2022 nice thinking of picking of some also soon..
Yessir! Gotta have those Libertads!
Love chopped mark 8 reales and trade dollars! I have one trade and many 8 reales.... Great pickup T! Still waiting on my 22 Libs!
Hey Aloha, You’re the one that turned me on to chop marks. Other guys have said the same. We need some more content, amigo!
Love the history of the 8 Reales coins. Seeing chop marks on all the old silver coinage is just cool... You know someone in a Chinese port handled the coin many years ago. Nice pick up, more Libs for the stack!
Thanks buddy! Yep, more Libs. I have a nice one to show on Saturday too.
Busca información sobre "El Galeón de Manila", te gustará.
Saludos desde España.
Looking forward to your next video. 👍

Congratulations on your 2022 silver libertads..still waiting for mine.
Hopefully soon T M!
2022 libertads.... probably this years more/most popular coin...
Bee 🐝 well.
Yes. Most anticipated, for sure!
Rich got some nice pickups. Those old coins are so cool. That Japanese coin is also very cool, never seen one myself either. 2022 are finally out, nice.

@@B29p no mine has a dragon on it. It's from the meji era
Actually I have 2 silver japanese coins
@@Mr-pn2eh sweet! I'm just working on my old American coin collection for now.
Awesome video T. I love the chop marked coins. I recently picked up my own chop marked 1796 8 Reales. Its my favorite coin. Thanks for the great video.
Sounds like a beauty! I love ‘em too. Only have a couple.
Bugger! That was interesting, T................................................and that means I'll be having a look at more US coin history. 😀
More to come tomorrow. Especially if you like United States Peso coins!
Super cool coins and history! Just got a few 22 Libertads myself this week!
Thanks! Cool history!
Come to Fun Show and we'll meet up for sure! Great video man, just bought a 1874-S Trade Dollar with Chops in it for $275... AU details, i love the coin... sounds like I probably did okay!
I’d love to. We will see how things play out. That trade dollar sounds awesome!
Thanks for the Reale chop mark video, T. I have 2 of these that I picked up years ago for $50 :)
Sweet! Glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent video , very interesting ! 👍
Thanks Jerry!
Those 8 reales are cool
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Hi T, hope all is going well..awesome video on the chop marks, I have 3 chop marks on my coin it's the same as Rich's coin..( Japan 1 yen 1894) dragon coin. Thanks again to both you and Rich, great job!
Thanks T M! I learn something new every time I’m over there!
Acquiring a Trade dollar has been on my wish list for some time now but I seem to get caught up with stacking instead.
Someday I tell you, someday 🧐
Me too! I’d love to own one.
@@TtheSilverStacker I just bought my 1st one yesterday!
In 1857 the spanish dollar was outlawed for U.S. trade even though the us had there own currency in 1792. Spanish milled dollars are by far my favorite coin of any!
I’ll have to look for those.
2022 libertads are out....I ordered 5 oz....all the way down to the 1/20th....7 coins 570.00
Just curious. What did you pay for the 5 oz?
@@TtheSilverStacker got it from SD Bullion it was 269
I have several of the 5oz....I need to kind of inventory those to fill in the gaps....I have all 7 of the 2021 too....but thats the only two year full
@@silverstethoscope65 Thanks. I found them at a coin show. I paid $215 and then found another dealer selling them for $200. I wish I had more cash. Ha ha!
@@TtheSilverStacker yea i bet...I thought of dabbling in resale of those but don't have time for listing and fees....then the business aspect now that Old Joe and his cronies are watching....to much hassle....lol
Great video T 💪🏻
Thanks buddy!!
@@TtheSilverStacker anytime T 😎💪🏻
i hit that Chicago show Saturday at 11:am and everyone was gone already i was utterly shocked,,there were maybe 20-30% of dealers that stuck around for the final day but the rest boogied..i guess you gotta take a day off work if you wanna see all the dealers..
I was very surprised about that too. I was there on Saturday too.
Nice video Mr T 🤩
Thanks Swestacker!
Amigo T. Keep it going.
Will do Jose! More good stuff coming!

That stinks.
@@TtheSilverStacker $1,258 to be exact. My warranty ran out 2 months ago. That's how it goes with warranties 🤷
