Very nice engine and very nice running in low RPM. What did you do to get the RPM so incredible low? Low on fuel and air, but did you also set the ignition to a certain moment in time i.e. early, top dead center or late?
Good day i have worked on a few Holt 75 engines what carb are you using? Its runs way better than the cast one it comes with. We put more lift on the cam shaft helped the engine breathing and opend up the intake ports to all the same size due to gas puddling. Stanless steel valves due to rusting due to long storage, O rings on end of crank shaft due to oil leakage and pistons, rings, carb out of hobby air craft std size off the shelf parts and stiffer valve springs also machined aluminum connecting rods to reduce revolving mass to idle slower. Keep up the good work want to see more of it!!
Hi Black Smoke Joe, I read this comment when I was out of town so I was going to wait until I was back home and check the carby details before I made a comment"…but then I forgot, sorry about that…anyway the carby I am using is an OS 7D. I don’t know of anyone that has had any luck with the original carby. I’ll head over to your channel and see if I can have a look at your holt that you mention.
Hi Bonnie, credit must go to a guy named Glen Davis. He made the engine some 14 or 15? years ago and it has changed hands a few times. Since I’ve owned it I’ve had to straighten the crankshaft, made the fan setup and base and found a radiator for it. It came with its original carburettor but I couldn’t get it to run right so I fitted this OS carby to it..
Thanks John, credit must go to John Davis from California for machining the engine. He built it about 16 years ago, sold it to a guy in France then I bought it about 5 years ago. It had a bent crank when I received it, dropped in transit so I repaired the crank, built this new base for it, made the carby adaptor and fuel tank, made the fan and added the radiator after giving it a birthday. The gentleman from France added a Velleman electronic transistor ignition module when he owned it. They are the best, I use those ignition modules on all my models now, excellent spark with less wear on the breaker points. Thanks for your comment and having a look.
If you think of the radiator as being at the front of the engine and I was to crank start it from that end of the engine then I would be cranking it clockwise.
