  • Here's an overview of our new LS XR4040 shuttle shift and us doing some brush hogging.
    Right now we have 5 hours on the clock and have used it for re-grading our driveway, moving some dirt around, creating a turnaround and parking space.
    With 5 hours on her I am very happy with what she can do.

    Thank you for the overview! I'm sold on this tractor for my 10 acres. Found a dealer here in Tennessee and got the tractor, a 6 foot bush hog, and 5ft tiller with an 18 ft trailer package for 25.5k. Can't beat it!

    Very nice job. I have the same size.. only a 4140. I believe the 41 means hydrostatic which mine is. I have 20 acres to play around with. Use it for everything including brushhoging, box blade, 2 bottom plow with an 8 ft drag. Also just picked up a 6ft 3pnt disk. And of course the frome loader. My wife even jumps on once in awhile to mow our trails.. we are extremely satisfied and as you stated.. not sorry we went with the 4o and 4wd... (my farmer friends call it front wheel assist). anyway enjoy the LS..
    I'm in Central Michigan..

    Thank you for taking the time to make a video and sharing it! It's really helpful to see an in-depth overview when researching tractors. We are really happy with our LS 3039...works great in the Western New York winters!

    I know I’m late to the comment party, but here’s a few things I’ve learned with mine. 1. Any metal coming in contact with dirt and rock can’t keep paint on it. 2 the PTO turns at 540. Rpm. Not 5400. 3. I would suggest a 6ft cutter because it would reach outside the tires. Otherwise you might cut everything you run over. Nice remotes on the back. Good luck. I’m sure you’re a pro on it by now.

    • @Bethnchris
      @Bethnchris  9 лет назад +1

      James Pottorff Got that right... Doing the driveway would have taken half a day with the old tractor and blade... doing that turn-around area and parking spot... probably a day... and the other trail work that I didn't video probably another... With this it took 4 hours...

    You will need a box blade to go with your tractor also to do some of the work around your place. I got a package deal when I got my first tractor and glad that I did get the package since I needed what I got. I added extra implements over time and now have a new tractor as well to use with my other implements since I keep the brush hog on my older tractor only.

    The beacon switch is redundant on your tractor it is fir a rotating flashing amber warning light used if you do road mileage.....

    I love your attention to detail. I’m with the others in wondering how you like the tractor now? I also like your comments about your old iron. Owning several old tractors myself, the noodling factor gets a little old. But a person can still buy an Allis, Farmall, Case etc., from the 50’s and 60’s, that work very well for $2000-$3,000 all day long. Enlighten us please.

      going back to your comment about sitting... this tractor sat for about 2-3 months over the winter and started right up... none of our gas equipment does that... we normally have to warm the motor with a heat lamp for a while... still loving this tractor after a year of ownership...

    I'm surprised about the regeneration cycle. If you're running under load the exhaust should be hot enough that the trap is continuously regenerating. The forced regeneration should only be needed if you're idling a lot or running under very light load. Tier IV, of course has nothing to do with a 4-hour regen cycle. If you're forced to spend 40-minutes doing regen for every 4-hours of operation that would be totally unacceptable. Per regulation you should be able to operate more than 3000 hrs before you may need to have the ash cleaned from the trap.

    What a beast of a tractor. Looks pretty. 4 wheel drive. Great at moving snow. Do you have an enclosure for driver for those snowy or rainy days? I would instal a GPS unit hidden on it, if someone ever steals it you can lock right on it and get it back. Hate to sound nuts but some people are always trying to rip someone off. Good Luck with a great machine. Enjoying your videos, Thank You for sharing.

    • @Bethnchris
      @Bethnchris  8 лет назад +1

      +mmanut we looked at the cab model but with our wooded location it seemed like an accident waiting to happen... the windshield cost $1k to replace... even the dealer did not recommend it... so we will just have to suck it up in the rain... we've had good luck with nothing being stolen from the property but it is insured... it would suck but we could then get it replaced... hopefully we never have to use it...

    Just boneing up on tractors and looking to upgrade into a bigger unit from my garden tractor. What are the advantages of filling the tires?

    • @Bethnchris
      @Bethnchris  7 лет назад

      traction... it also helps if you have a heavy load on the bucket... moves the center of gravity rearward... makes it less tippy...

    • @Sparkeee1978
      @Sparkeee1978 7 лет назад +1

      When you load the tires with fluid, it puts extra weight as close to the ground as you can get, without sacrificing ground clearance. Lowering the center of gravity, and adding a lot of stability on steeper hills, or traction to the tires on a whole. It will also add weight for ballast overall, when using a loader to counteract the weight within the bucket. some of the newer tractors will lift far more then is stable, and lift the rear tires off the ground. You can counteract this with filled tires, as well as having a very heavy implement on the 3 pt, like a box blade. It is not always advised, if weight is a negative for your application, such as if you need to "float" over soft ground. an extra 1200 lbs between a box blade, and filled tires can dig you in deeper.

    Hello. Thanks for the video. I was going in to look at the Mahindra and the sales guy showed me this. I had never seen them. Seems like a lot more tractor for the price. Are you still happy with it? Any problems? Does that 24k include tax? Thanks for your help.

    • @Bethnchris
      @Bethnchris  8 лет назад

      So far no problems... we've mostly been using it for earth moving with the bucket and there's been nothing we've thrown at it that it hasn't handled yet... We have around 50 hours on it now which is probably what we'll put on her each year...
      No problems yet... I do with the open cab model like we have had a cup holder for a water bottle (its the little things)... and I'm still not a huge fan of the regen you get with all tier 4 moters... always seems to kick off as we're finishing things up...
      $24k was everything... including the box scrapper, delivery and 50 hours service (which we'll be scheduling shortly)

    I live in Boston/Colden area, how do you like doing business at Eden Tractor? How is the LS treating you these days, is the regen an issue?

    • @Bethnchris
      @Bethnchris  6 лет назад

      They were great to work with... we had them do our 50 hour service on-site so we didn't need to take the tractor to them... it's not that big of a machine but the combined weight of the tractor and a trailer big enough for it is just a little more than a 1500 class pickup (which is what we have)
      the regen isn't an issue but does seem to kick off right about the time you want to finish working... usually wen it happens we just do other jobs while the tractors regening...

      I'm overseas right now and I made contact requests to Kubota (x2) crickets. Massey/Kioti (same dealer) and LS. Massey (AgCo) got back to me quick and referred me to the local dealer. Crickets. I got on the Massey dealer website and made another contact request. Crickets.
      LS is the only one to respond and in 2 days I had a quote for a package on an XR3135H and the implements I need to start out.
      My local LS dealer's slogan is "We really want to sell you a tractor" and they're proving it with action.
      There very few real differences among the makes. Most notably Massey and a few others have engineered the DPF and regens out of the larger engines now. I don't see regens as a problem since with LS you simply tap the go ahead button, when the regen light flashes, and keep on working.
