CVA scout in 45-70 is the absolute softest recoil in the 45-70 you will ever experience. And the trigger is amazing.
I love it
I got my dad a henry big boy in 45-70.. recoil is nothing due to all the weight. Im sure that muzzle break makes it that much better.
WTW over the past years I've had the privilege and pleasure to watch you grow your channel with drive and passion that few possess any more about anything they do. Don't let the few sour souls bother you. God, family, and your desire to succeed have taken and will continue to help you grow into what ever you want. Prayers for you and your family my friend 🙏.
🙏🙏🙏
I got me a scout a few months back, the 450 bushmaster put a hurting on a big doe.
Always enjoy watching, keep up the good work.
I got mine. I got the economical all black CVA Scout .45-70. I would suggest removing the picatinny rail, clean of the oil under it, clean out the screw holes and the screws. Then use you some blue loctite on the screws BEFORE mounting your scope!!! My trigger, tested 3 times, 2.2 lbs 2.2 lbs 2 4 lbs.. awesome trigger out of the box. Manufacturer says 2 lbs 12 ozs. from the factory
Thanks bro. Retired military and my wife has the privilege of working your videos in the early am while I drink my coffee!!! Keep it up!
Howdy Adam. You have been a ROCK with your videos, your family and hunts ya'll do. We who enjoy your videos have ALL learned something... so thank you young sir 🙏 ❤

We love you whoo tee. Praying for prosperity for you bud. We love your content
🙏🙏🙏 thank you. Means a lot
Thanks for doing the reviews on these ,directly influenced my purchasing one in 35 Whelen.
I really hope this is a wake up call for other arms producers. CVA has nailed a $350 slinger that drops 45-70 into under an inch consistently. Not sure what their voodoo majic is but am saving for one in 35 Whelen. Whole unit is cheaper than a barrel for my T/C Encore.
I have a 6.5 Creedmoor and a 7mm-08 Scout. I love them as well. Both barrels are at Silencer Central being threaded for my Banish 30. Great little blind rifles.
Little project on the 7mm-08, I am installing a Sharp's Bros pistol grip and an AR style folding buttstock. It will be the ultimate compact rifle.
I have a CVA scout pistol in 350 Legend. They make great guns.
Have the CVA Hunter version in 45-70. Amazing trigger, with 325 Hornadys and a 50 yard zero it’ll shoot awesome groups. Thanks for the video!
Totally agree 👍
Total agreement 👍
Sorry, people are going to hate on people who work hard and succeed. You are doing a great job, and i enjoy watching your videos after work. BTW, I did not make it to Tolivers over the weekend. Maybe next time.
Love my Leupold…ya just need to know how to work the Zero-Stop.
Glass is super clear and the Leupolds are considerably lighter than their competition and…made in the good ole US of A!!!
After that…it’s all good from there.
Yup. CDS system got him.
I had a CVA in .45-70. Damn thing was as close to a tack driver as I could get it. Shot best with leverevalution. Wish I never got rid of it .
The 45/70 and 35 Whelen break actions with scopes qualify for use in the Missippi primitive weapon deer seasons
Awesome
Works in Louisiana too!
Interesting. What was the rationale behind allowing specifically 35 Whelen?
Arkansas also this year
@@rustyjohnson9558 not the 35 Whelen specifically. Has to be 35 caliber or larger, exposed hammer, breech loaded, single shot. They just didn’t know what a beast the 35 whelen is lol.
I had a friend that used fling cast boo-lots outa a falling block 45-70... it was his preferred boo-lot flinger for the UP black powder deer catching season... ~ 3 years ago he went to walk with the Lord.
Just got my 2nd CVA Scout Pistol a 44 Mag/Spl to go along with the 300BLK one I have. Great Bergara barrels and solid tough receivers threaded and great triggers!
Until Thompson Center comes back I am glad we have these for reasonable money they are sweet shooters.
Have you tried swapping the barrels between them?
Love those Core-Lokt's..All of them..
Great video. Two hints. When checking trigger pull, have the butt pad on a hard surface, removes a variable. Have the rifle resting on the forfend, not the barrel, as it messes with the harmonics. You have a great channel. Cheers from Australia.
👍👍 good tips
Personal experience has taught me that speed is not really necessary in the 45/70. Trapdoor loads will HAMMER what you shoot. My personal preference is hard lead cast at around 1250fps. I’ve learned how to shoot it’s rainbow trajectory. The Army, when they were testing it for the rifle that all would be shooting, tested it at TWO MILES!!!!!! The only negative I have is my Encore doesn’t like lead but my rolling block does😁.
1 like and I’m buying a cva scout
Let me know where you find em. Outta stock everywhere ive looked
They're a great firearm
Buddy liked his own comment😂
👍WTW. Big bore n Break overs! Making one shot count.. Thanks!
That settles it! I am getting me one of those CVA .45-70’s! I could not tell by your description in the video, did the scope bottom out or was it a zero-stop issue?
Great video as always.
I’ve been looking at a 35 Whelen but I already have everything to reload for 45-70 and so I think I’ll just stick with what I have. Nice video!
I'd be thrilled with that accuracy WTH!
Thompson Center Contenders were the top dog of break actions back in the day. This CVA looks realy cool though I like it.
I have had alot of 45-70 love that cal. The 444 got rid of that H&R barrel still got 35 Waylon and 12 other barrels.
.64” with .45 - 70? I’m impressed.
That’s how the CDS dial works. Have to remove the turret to get the elevation turret dialed in. Then reinstall. On my VX6 I didn’t even remove the turret, just loosened the set screws so I could pull it up a little and it allowed me to dial it down. The CDS is a solid setup, just have to bring a small Allen key to get it zeroed.
Greetings from Australia...thanks for your work on these vids mate - much appreciated. That's a round that I've never shot but it sure must have some grunt behind it...
Was thinking about this gun on and off and this helped thanks
My favorite round of all time! Boom Boom!
You really should look into learning how the Leupold zero stop and CDS work. They are fantastic. To zero you remove the turret then zero as per normal. Then once zeroed replace the zero stop turret back on with it set at zero. Once you work out the ballistics of your cartridge you can just dial on up then and once you've finished just crank it back on down and it will automatically stop at your sight in distance. Even better, once you know all your ballistics and things, contact Leupold and they will burn you a Custom Dial Turret that will have your ballistics calculated on it. Then when say you want to take a shot at 300 yards, you simply turn the dial to 300 and fire away. It is a great system that works perfectly and there is no need to carry a dope card or try and figure out how far to click up whilst you're on the go.
CVA Scout is affordable accuracy and the 45-70 Gov is a short range classic power house. What a great combo 😃🦌
I love the 45/70!
I love the CVA scout! (Although mine aren’t that fancy with the stainless and flutes.)
And I thank you for your videos.
But I think you might be doing a disservice to the capabilities of the 45-70 compared to the 444 by not using the higher velocity ammunition available.
It’s not a criticism just one guy thinking out loud.
I’m eagerly awaiting more big bore videos. I appreciate your work and thank you for sharing all of the data you collect . I learn more from every video you put out.
I have the .35 Whelen version. It routinely groups under an inch. Somewhere I heard that Begara builds the barrels for those…? Not sure if that’s true or not, but the 45-70 variants is next on my bucket list 👍🏻
I know Bagara makes the barrels for the Cascades, not sure on the scouts though.
Don’t get frustrated, folks don’t/won’t/want to understand..that’s life sadly…you work hard everyday to make content, cameras, guns , ammo, family, life cost money and few are racing to send you any…god bless
Just watched , Mon. Morning . Sometimes things can be a little aggravating ( scope adjustment) but looks like you made it work. That’s not bad at all .64 group that is . Thanks for the video. I’m pretty sure that will be a one shot deer catcher for sure .
Aye, don't let the haters bring down your vibe. You want to make your channel succeed. Keep up the awesome work. Your willing to spend your hard earned money.
Those rifles feel totally different when you shoot off the shoulder without a lead sled💥
Yep. You figured out the Leupold CDS system. Just remove the turret, then put the zero where you want it. Replace the turret and now you have a zero stop. Best scopes made for the money.
I want one of these in 35 whelen every one of these u tested flat out shoots
With those scopes you have to take the elevation turret off and then do your adjustments, after your zeroed for whatever yard you want than you put the turret back on withbthe zero facing you. I use this scope on my 300 win mag and the vx5 on my rum. They are amazing scopes
Thanks for all you do!
Thanks for watching!
I got a single shot henry 45-7]0,and a single shot 35 whelen cva ,definitely like the cva better ,cva is stainless and cheaper ,and shoots great, thanks for posting
Deerhunted with a Marlin 45 70 for twenty years and used Remington 300gr hp. They have alot more stopping power compared to the 405s. Like the Scout in 35 Whelen, the most underrated and underused cartridge there is.
CVA Scout is an awesome rifle.
My only complaint would be the LOP is a tad long for me. They make a two shot shellholder fits between the rings and wraps around the action. Makes for quick reloads. Break w/right hand, extract and load w/left hand.😊
Maybe put a can on that .45-70 and try some 700+ grain subsonic loads to show drop at 100 yards and how quiet that setup can be.
Not a fan of the CDS for just this reason. Great shooting and thanks for sharing Hooty.
Great videos, love them all, I have subscibed here and follow you on Facebook. I love your CVA Scout videos, so much so that I went today and picked up a CVA Scout in 243. It should do good on the Kentucky whitetails that i'll be after in November.
Thanks for watching
They make a good looking and performing rifle ! 👍👍
Bought one for my son in 243. Their excellent for the money
Nice and precise Adam 👍.
Thanks for the Video 👌.
Cheers 🙏✝️🇨🇦
Hey WhoTee. I just watched your CVA Scout video. I love the trigger test gizmo; however, something in the back of my mind is raising flags on your technique. Now take this with a "block" of salt but it seems that something from my 1970s physics classes says that you shouldn't hold the gun in one hand and the trigger tester in the other. Your one hand is applying force up while the other hand is applying force down. You should probably put the gun butt on a solid surface and pull the trigger straight down for the most consistent results. Or maybe not.
Impressive group from a single shot break action 45-70 with factory ammo!
Love the vids xden
Big Who tee Who fan right here
That's amazing grouping for 45-70!
Great rifle on a budget. Lot of different options. Turkey options running a thing also on these rifles and different straight wall caliber for ohio. Dad like 325gr Hornady in his marlin . This would on my list for big caliber for Africa
Thanks Who Tee
”Sold my lever action 45/70 ”???? Hurts my ears . Don’t do that 😂😂😂
Gotta pay the bills
Best round made! Love all your videos
Appreciate you watching bigtime!
Crazy seeing a group of 45-70! Holes are darn near 1/2” each!! I’m use to shooting 6mm or 6.5, which makes little 1/4” holes. I grew up in Iowa, and most of my family still live there. Several of my uncles either have their own property or have access to property with monster whitetails. I keep saying I’m gonna go up and hunt one year, and they only allow straight wall rifle or shotgun during gun season. That little boolat flinger would be just the ticket.
I always wanted a 45.70 and you and cva sold me on this one. There's one in the mail somewhere with my,name on it. Sure hope it shoots like yours. P.s. keep sending your great videos. ..Good luck from this old guy up in Labrador..canada.
Looks fun! I look at the single shots and think: How short/light could I get that if I cut the barrel down to 16”…
You have to pull the cap off with an the Allen wrench that comes with the scope
I would suggest removing the screws in the factory pic rail and adding lock tight. Mine came loose after about 30 rounds, chambered in 450BM. Other than that, I really like the CVA Scout.
I have a CVA scout 35 Whelan that is a tack driver I’ve caught a lot of deer with it.
If you plan to do any handloading for this rifle, try the Sierra 350 grain HP over IMR 3031. I had a 45-70 Ruger #1 that just loved that bullet. Man, I wish I still had that rifle...
I've been watching you for years and just realized I wasn't subscribed I could have sworn I was
YT unsubscribes people all the time. I appreciate you watching
Thanks a lot, Biden
What not 1/2 MOA ?? I am so disappointed HaHa Great shooting Adam. The hard kicking 45-70 is not easy to shoot accurate. I have an 1886 45-70 that I have not mastered yet but that is half the fun. Thanks for another great video.
I have a H&R Handy Rifle in 45-70 With a 4x Leupold, 300gr Remington Core Locts are devastating on Pennsylvania bucks
Another amazing video
I have the exact same gun but with a vortex 2-7 best deer rifle I own sweet simple and a true tack driver barrel is amazing also I shoot the grizzly 300 gr at 2400 fps highly recommend this round easy 250yd gun perfect for here in Ohio
Heck with the haters/ love your stuff young man
Thanks for watching
Thank you!!!
Those leupolds are the best bang for the buck and will last forever.
I've got a CVA Scout 223. It shoots good.
Hawaii approves of your videos Adam🤙🤙🤙♥️♥️♥️
I appreciate you watching!
I have one in a 300 blackout. So hard to open when it's empty got to use both hands and smack the trigger guard to get it open.
Crazy good accuracy for a big bore. Those cva scouts always impress me
They have been good to me
Wake up, read Gods word, watch 45-70 videos with who-t-whoooo!
Would be thrilled with that!
Pretty sure adjustments can just be made with the cap off. Then put the cap back on in the zero position. That's how mine is. With the cds-zl. Agreed it's frustrating for getting zero but for dragging thru the alders of Kodiak, the zero lock is, in my mind, necessary. I prefer capped turrets like the good ole days above all, but seems if you want better glass these days they only come with dials. To each their own.
Just got home from sighting in 444 marlin with hornady 265gr super performance. Thinking my shoulder will be patriotic red white, black and blue tomorrow. Heard my shoulder socket snap on one bad hold. 45-70 could be worse recoil
Try the 350 gr. Leverevolution bullets. My rifle changed 4" groups with 405 gr. flat points to consistently be under an inch.
You should check trigger pull while in the rest.
And use same procedure 3 times get an average
45-70 yes !
Hunting season finally!!!!
Best thing I've ever used for scopes was a collimanter. Square cross hair's. Think it was a Bushnell. Had spuds.
Worked with a guy who " reloaded" 45-70 and would travel to Idaho to hunt elk. One year he had worked up and went to the range to see the results. Using a Marlin 1895, scoped. He set up a target, 100 yds. Lying prone, fired his first group of three. Went to see....no holes. He had been hunting with that rifle for a few years and took elk with. It was sighted in. So he set up for another three. When fired the round he noticed a , sort of a dark cloud about 75 yds down. Ignored it....imagination?. Turns out his lead was too soft and his ibullets were vaporizing.
Great group great video
Thanks for watching
could you do 450 bushmaster vs 444 vs 45-70
4570 scout is like saying I'm going rabbit hunting with my bazooka lol
Very nice i like those cva
Your talking me into buying one. Lol 😆
45-70 jug test, melon test, clay test 🤔😁😎💚✅
Pretty sure that’s a zero stop. I take the cap off and sight it in then re-install he cap set at zero.
Yup
I'm going to using that "bottom out" scope hack. Hopefully will fix this new scope I tossed on an old Marlin 60 22LR that ran into that issue.
Nice group!! I wouldn’t touch it 👍
Very nice!
