Simon actually guessed a film, and that YES! from Mark was so satisfying.

The premise of this film reminds me of House!, a very obscure film from 2000 which also involved a Welsh setting with a lady trying to save an establishment dear to her.

It is a remake of the Welsh language version 'Y Lyric' shown on S4C in 1997

Wish we could get Welsh stories delivered through mainstream film and media actually in Cymraeg instead of living in a country where the mere mention of Welsh language media paralyses the rest of the country with confusion and refusal.

@@henriashurst-pitkanen8735 There was plenty of that once upon a time, but no-one was interested. I screened plenty of great Welsh language films in my cinema days (Rhosyn a Rhith, Hedd Wyn, Branwen, Cameleon, Angry Earth, etc) but everyone wanted Hollywood. Most of these films were from S4C's film distribution arm, but now are held by the archive in Aberystwyth.

As someone from that area I thought the Carmarthen accents were fine 🤷‍♂ Not everyone in Wales sounds like the characters from Gavin & Stacey. Lovely film, very nostalgic.

ehhhhhh no, it’s very clear that they’re overplaying their accents. Which becomes annoying and very distracting.

Trouble with the Welsh accent is you make one wrong inflection or the wrong emphasis on a consonant and it falls apart very quickly.

In the UK they "lace" up the projector, in the US we "thread" up the projector. Or rather, did.

Fantastic film about a cinema close to my heart, this is the real deal for us locals that remember the fight, not the Carmarthen accent I know, more of a Gavin and Stacey sound but hey so what, great film.

May watch this just to see how cheesy it really is. :)
I've seen The Smallest Show on Earth several times. Its great. In the UK Talking Pictures show it fairly often.

I think it's pretty good. The Carmarthenshire accent isn't the easiest and there's not many examples of it in the media.

Not sure about the dodgy Welsh accents. It's not like there's a shortage of great Welsh actors who should have been cast instead.

There is a wide range of Welsh accents in Carmarthen these days: they aren't all bois y beudy anymore. Perhaps you should visit one day.
