To me, combat was iffy, but I loved how much lore was in this game, and the fact it was all open world. There was also a multiplayer/village management system that I distinctly remember because of how invested I was. The village management was pretty basically you built things like barracks and barricades/guard towers to improve the village's defences while housing and shops allowed you to buy better gear as the village progressed, there was also side quests you could do for your residents that took you outside the village onto a small map with random encounters that made you some quick cash. It was also time sensitive, meaning if you spend a week away from the village in real-time, then depending on your defenses, your village would be absolutely fucked or alright. Honestly - if the devs had more time and budget the game could have obtained a cult classic status. But event as it is, I still think it is very enjoyable.

The Magic System is absolutely the best magic System out of any game to date, everything else about the game needed A LOT more work put into it. You can Combine spells to make even better spells, there's almost no limit to the spells you can create... You're basically an anime protagonist from a magic anime.
First Risen is still my favourite Risen game. Has a lot of nostalgia for me because it was one of the first RPGs I played as a kid, but I played it again a few years ago and I have to say I still like it. The combat seems straightforward but getting really good at it is hard but so rewarding. It's not like other games where everyone becomes a damage sponge on higher levels. Strong enemies can two-shot you... but if you learn the correct skills (magic or melee) you kill the enemies decently fast as well. Exploring the island is also pretty interesting, at least more than is many other games. The quests... there are actually some interesting ones, believe it or not. :P Of course nowadays the game is very outdated but for its time I think it's pretty good. It has a different style than other RPGs but if you go with it you can have a lot of fun in my opinion. Also didn't notice many bugs when I played it recently and can't remember having any really bad bugs when it released. Was a long time ago of course. :D Granted I played the German version (and it is a German game) so I don't know how good the English synchronisation is.
This game provided me a years worth of joy before Skyrim. The magic system is so creative and is also insanely overpowered. In multiplayer and the campaign you could solo everything with magic. Physical and magic resist spells with insanely overpower AOE magic. Absolutely invincible.
I liked the multiplayer mode a lot when i first got this game, and the only reason I played the singleplayer was because I moved states and my parents didn't get internet at the new house for a looong time lol
If you play this game for the plot, you aren't doing it right. This is a sandbox at best, and probably would've done better if it focused more on the random side quests and fun side characters.

The funny thing is that sword of blue glowingness seems to have been copied from something else . Idk why but it's like a royalty free consept 😂 I had a wall hanger exactly like it
Always amazes me how they simultaneously managed to improve and ruin almost everything over the first one
i actually played through the entire game. Magic is fun. I remember summoning lots of death knights.
Kevduit is making me really want to play this game, never got it but now I want it.
The Magic System is absolutely the best magic System out of any game to date, everything else about the game needed A LOT more work put into it.
You can Combine spells to make even better spells, there's almost no limit to the spells you can create...
You're basically an anime protagonist from a magic anime.
Hearing Izaro's voice at the prologue from POE reminded me, that this is just a sub section of the actual game.
Oh if you thought this was bad, try risen. That was a load of horseshit if I remember correctly
Lmao, Don't get me Started on Risen.
The first Risen was buggy as hell, but that series of games still ruled.
Of course nowadays the game is very outdated but for its time I think it's pretty good. It has a different style than other RPGs but if you go with it you can have a lot of fun in my opinion. Also didn't notice many bugs when I played it recently and can't remember having any really bad bugs when it released. Was a long time ago of course. :D
Granted I played the German version (and it is a German game) so I don't know how good the English synchronisation is.
its nice to see someone else spin during dialog
The story and the acting reminds me of those sword & sandal movies riffed on MST3k.
This game provided me a years worth of joy before Skyrim. The magic system is so creative and is also insanely overpowered. In multiplayer and the campaign you could solo everything with magic. Physical and magic resist spells with insanely overpower AOE magic. Absolutely invincible.
10 out of 10 quest making where you give the girl your food lmao
Ma man killed the Guitar Hero segment tho 😂
THIS MUST BE MADE BY KOJIMA !!!
look at those cutscenes length !
HAHAHAHA
The first Two Worlds I've played through several times, this one I couldn't be bothered to even finish once. :P
I liked the multiplayer mode a lot when i first got this game, and the only reason I played the singleplayer was because I moved states and my parents didn't get internet at the new house for a looong time lol
"I can't wait to kill 3-" *gets one shotted by a bear*
If you play this game for the plot, you aren't doing it right. This is a sandbox at best, and probably would've done better if it focused more on the random side quests and fun side characters.
I literally ejected the disc and drove back for a refund after I pressed "right" on my controller and instead of moving right my character unequipped all their armor.
Why not try and play GuildWars 1 perhaps with friends, its not exactly a dead or bad game but id love to see how you react to it
