- A quick flight around Prague in the latest "Local Legend" to grace Flight Simulator - Aero Vodochody 45. You get two models in the pack - the 45, and 145, along with multiple liveries for each. It's a typical "Local Legend" aircraft - not study level, but very good value, looks great, and great fun to fly.

Postscript - the frame rate issue at the end is a bug in the aircraft when taxiing on grass.
Thanks for providing this info! =)
I actually think those bridges are photogrammetry. I flew around them in the Astro One so that I could get a good look, and they blended in with the rest of the city better than most hand modeled scenery I’ve seen. Plus, Prague has a LOT of bridges, and they all seemed to be full 3d, not just the famous ones. I could see hand modeling the Charles Bridge, but *all* of the bridges? My guess is that they’ve finally figured out how to get real 3d photogrammetry instead of 2.5d. Maybe this is a preview of FS2024 tech…
🐈
How are you adjusting to that eye follower.😊
Slowly :)
"Ot./min" means "Otáčky za minutu", so yeah, it is RPM
I'm not from Prague, but the landmarks should be:
14:45 - Letná. The football stadium is home to Sparta Praha, one of Prague's famous football/soccer clubs, and there is an empty field and park right next to it which for us Czechs is even more famous, because that is Letenská pláň (or THE Letná), a symbolic place of victory over tyrany (at one point there was a huge monument to Stalin which got removed back in 60s AFAIK, and the whole place was filled to a brim with peple fed up with the communist regime back in 1989's Velvet Revolution) and a pretty good place to make a concert
15:16 - That is the Prague Main Station, a railway station with famous Art Noveau (former) entry hall that sadly isn't being seen by many because back during the communist rule someone chose to have a huge motorway in front of it and a new brutalist and ugly as f*** entry hall got built under that motorway
15:34 - that is the Žižkov Tower, a communications tower with a viewing gallery/observatory, quite famous piece of brutalist/modern architecture (and although it doesn't fit seamlessly to its surroundings, it is much, much nicer example of 80's architecture than the new entry to the previously mentioned station)
16:01 - quite on the contrary, that's st. Barbara (or sv. Barbora) church in Nusle, the square around it is called Náměstí Míru (the Peace Square), and both the church and those huge straight boulevards are from 19th century. Funnily enough, one of the oldest parts of Prague, Prague Old Town, were seen to the left of Prague Main Station back at 15:15 and are seen a bit later because:
16:37 - that bridge with those two towers is the old Karlův most (King Charles Bridge or Charles Bridge), the oldest currently standing bridge in Prague, built in 14th century, and the area surrounding it is Prague's Old Town, Prague's "New City" (new when compared to Old Town, it was built in the 14th century too) and on the other river bank is Malá strana ("Small Side", essentially a part of Prague under the Prague Castle, another formely medieval settlement)
16:44 - in the lower left corner right next to wing there is for a moment a view on the Old Town Square, including the tower of Prague's Old Town Hall that houses the famous Astronomy Clock
17:02 - to the bottom right, that is the Prague Castle, the seat of czech kings and current offices of czech presidents. And the church there that is St. Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert Cathedral ("Katedrála-" or "Chrám sv. Víta, Václava a Vojtěcha"... Saint Adalbert of Prague is known here in Czech lands by his birthname Vojtěch, and there is a whole theory of why Saint Vitus, a name so similar to slavic god Svantovit, was used), or more simply the Prague Cathedral, its current form built from 14th till 20th century, a seat of Archbishop of Prague and the place where Czech Crown Jewels are kept.
17:04 - on the bottom right, there is the baroque dome of St. Nicholas Church ("Sv. Mikuláš" in Czech)
I have missed a few... or more likely, I might have missed many, because Prague is absolutely packed by landmarks. And Prague is just the beginning, there is far more to the Czech Republic when it comes to nice places to visit...
As for flyover, I would recommend my hometown of Brno next ;)
19:15 Eden, home of Slavia Prague - most famous football club in Czechia. 😄
Was not impressed with this aircraft. Found in very plain with no "WOW" factor! But....we all have different tastes.
Hallo Jonathan. Thank you for this review. Text on dashboard is Czech, I did not recognized anything Russian at least not from your review. Russians use another alphabet. Also help tanks as you called it is correct direct translattion, but its ment more like auxiliary.
I love the look of this era. Deco style is so beautiful. The tie downs and chocks upon your landing reminds me of the Mustang Jet. There's button for red carpet and your fancy car once you land, but if you press while in the air, your car and red carpet flies with you. It's magic!
Fun plane, but I won't buy any plane without a nav coupled autopilot. I normally do cross country flights and I'm not hand flying any longer than it takes to get the gear and flaps up.
Was just going to say Bug FPS rubbish update, essential
This reminds me of the Dehaviland Dragon that used to run between Croydon and Orly/Le Bourget
.yes
I flew on refurbished/rebuilt dragon rapide at Duxford during air show was incredible.
beautiful plane- has an almost 1930's Streamline Moderne look to it
It is built in that style, considering the Streamlined Moderne as an artstyle went from 1930's to late 50's/early 60's
The drop in frames at the end is an issue with this plane itself, has the old ground FX bug which really should have been found during testing. If taxing on grass frames will drop to single digits. On the forums others are starting to report this, so hopefully Asobo/AH listen and get this resolved with a patch asap.
Good to know. Never seen this bug before!
I keep going back/forth on this one. I know for only $9 you basically can't go wrong but I really don't think that I would fly it very often, if at all, so it would just be taking up storage that I could apply to another plane. Planes like this, for me, are a 'play with for a while' before moving onto the other GA aircraft that I normally fly. I just don't see myself doing long flights in anything like this at all.
I will Likely give this one a miss it doesn't appeal to me. Sounds are bad which is common with these local legends and this one is just a bit weird looking to me.
Let's fly it from Dresden to Prague along the river Elbe.
All instruments are in czech language no rusian..
hmmm somewhat has a Dragon Fly look to it and of course another Fine Video as usual
The later model has GPS and autopilot. It's a fun wee plane. If you have tool tips on, (which I know are annoying for some), they are in English for the buttons/switches.
I know - I always turn the tooltips off :)
2:53 "Přístroje" means instruments, so in english cockpit aircraft that would be your avionics master switch
Thanks for the review and finding the frame rate issue. I’m a GA guy but I will wait and see if they get this corrected.
Can you ever fly low over a city?
For those who have Google Translate, if you freeze the video showing the instrument labels it will show them in English or whatever language you prefer.
I see only czech, no russian …also, dont see a point in making a plane in mixed languages lol
The reason I said it was passing the words through google translate, many of them didn't come up with Czech translations - but did with Russian. I imagine that must be a failing on Google's part.
We're expecting "quality" from Aeroplane Heaven? 😂
Well, this is very disappointing. I literally had money in hand heading to purchase but, if it has this frame rate problem, I will wait to hear it has been corrected. To bad, I was really impressed by the looks of this plane.
Plane looks "ok" - not for me but that's what makes life interesting. City looked great *except* the trees - OMG - so many trees in insane places - they really need to get better at that in 2024...
Was "secure aircraft" part of the checklist? That's obviously something you only do when shutdown. Presumably you took off with chocks and tie-downs.
I thought I disabled it. Maybe I switched it in-flight...
I noticed a strong framerate drop when flying with this aircraft. Anyone?
Everybody. It's a bug. I pinned a comment about it earlier.
@@jonbeckett I thank you for the answer. However, I wanted to clarify that I notice the drop in framerate strongly especially in flight, not only when I take a taxiing on the grass
Might be a silly post but is this aircraft related to the DH Dragon Rapide?
if I understood correctly the engines rotate opposite ech other which is naturally more stable with less torque effect.
I've never tried head tracking, but VR is SO GOOD that I can't imagine trying to fly in 2D ever again.
So... in a 737 or Airbus, how do you get to all the switches in VR ?
@@jonbeckett I have no problem with the switches in VR. I use the mouse just like you would for 2D. I think you can use the VR controllers, but I find that more difficult. I use a Quest 2. It's actually easier IMO because you can look and lean to access the switches just as you would in real life.
It reminds me of the Messerschmidt ME-210.
Such a great culture….the people who made it in rl The designers know it.
Very unique braking system on this plane lol
👏👏❤️👏❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
oh oh.. that iscrazy
Wow such an awesome plane. Thanks! Sir Beckett and a wow choice for your review aswell. Would be awesome to see you do more with the little "Put Putter" in the future Brilliant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌬🌬🛫
Thanks for bringing our attention towards this new plane, nice video as ever. I think the stuttering at the end is due to your PC's memory getting 'clogged up' and not clearing. That's why a restart worked as it reset the cache. It happens to me also and a restart always works. Thanks again.
Are you on DX12 or the native 11??
11
Shades of Flash Gordon…😊
Gordon’s aliiive?
Looks a lot like a De Havilland Dragon Rapide.
Quá đẹp bạn
Jon, do you not use Puffins "We Love VFR" collection of VFR landmarks?
I have used them in the past - not at the moment.
I have that. Makes a world of difference with details.
Some of the cockpit labels are German as well, because in the early 45 one some of the cockpit switches/controls are literally from German Heinkel 111s that the factory had been building during the war, I believe..
Absolutely, many Instruments are remainders from war and used later.
Rubbish aircraft until an update.
You're placing a lot of faith in an update fixing what you think should be fixed :)
I thought it would be freeware.
The local legends are never freeware. The only time aircraft were released as free (in my memory) were the 40th anniversary aircraft.
@@jonbeckettAnd the Trimotor (for the first week)
@@MojaveHigh I forgot that one!
