Well I’m a 67 year old Granny and love watching your videos. You guys should have won. You were the most genuine couple there. So glad you got the opportunity to go to Alaska and really look forward to your adventures there in the future. Thank you.
I found watching this for 58 minutes more interesting than the actual series. It was very contrived and as you said, the so called ‘challenges’ were pretty trivial. And again, as you said it was a great experience and you came away with one hugely important lesson Never be on a near reality TV programme again!
I agree and I feel like YOUR comment is WHY so many of us follow you tube. I enjoy following the REAL couples! Not dozens of film crews coming up scripted content.
Oh, you must know how it is with youtube channels. People are constantly looking for new, fresh ideas and do virtually anything to gin up the drama and excitement.
Sounds like “they” had already “picked” who they had decided on. Very disingenuous! Glad I never watched it. Just seeing the clips you showed were enough to get me POed. 🧐
and now the winners of that show got punked by the owners
Screw the main stream media, including the bbc. You guys are already winning at life 👍
Also that bison "hunt" was a pile of crap aimed at the blood thirsty wealthy. Like you guys I am a pescatarian, and their comments were a total insult to your intelligence. I have utmost respect for responsible hunting to put food on the table and if I had that particular set of skills I would have no shame in doing so.
Yup two idiots pushing nonsense
You guys are honest, competent, strait forward folks. I know it must have been disappointing to have to deal with folks with hidden agendas and shallow character.
Now I remember why most of my "TV" time is spent watching RUclips travel vlogs instead of regular television shows. #IndieProjects #NomadicMovement #LeaveEverythingAndWander #Eamon&Bec #VanCityVanLife #MandyLeaPhotography and a host of RV channels.
Thanks for plugging these a couple I hadn't heard of so ill check them out.
Just reading that Duane has refused to give up the house and it has ended in a bitter dispute. Sounds like you really dodged a bullet there!
i cant find anything, can you tell me where that is please ?
Seems that Duane’s new wife is manipulating his social media
@@miarena111 netflix mate
A fair appraisal of the TV show guys. I'm impressed there has been no real negativity, no bitterness as I definitely feel production was prejudiced against you from Day One. One small disagreement from me. While I fully accept this was not a documentary it certainly wasn't 'reality tv' either. It was, and I don't really want to upset anyone, television pap for the masses. It all seemed very false and untruthful and I still find it difficult to believe the old couple just decided they wanted to give their home away in a 'competition.' I've been making outdoor television shows for the BBC for 25 years so I have a pretty good idea how these things work. To be honest I think you guys are best out of it and I can just imagine the strings and conditions that the eventual 'winners' will have to face, none of which of course, will be broadcast. So well done on your very honest appraisal. I suspect you will both now be completely off the BBC's Christmas Card list.
Right you are. Did you hear that Rena passed away and that Duane shacked up with a younger woman and wanted to reclaim his homestead away from the winners?!! Poor "winning" couple ended up losing!!
I live in the US and my husband and I just watched the show. The whole thing came off as so contrived, that I did some googling and stumbled across your vlog. Glad I did, because you two were portrayed so unfairly on that ridiculous show. I couldn’t agree more with everything you had to say about this show. I’m sorry that you didn’t win the property; you would have been perfect for it! You now have a new subscriber to your vlog. 😀
I just finished it. What was contrived about it?
instaBlaster.
W@@daytondario6216
I really appreciate your honesty in this video. I felt throughout the series that you weren't well represented, more accurately represented in the way I feel I know you from watching your RUclips channel. I also noticed that none of your off-grid experience was shared or made it into the edit, which I found odd. You guys would have been PERFECT winners, I notice that you said it sits empty which is very telling and a huge shame.
If you are shipping the van from Liverpool and need a place to crash or a shower etc give me a shout. Would be happy to host you on our driveway or in our spare room. Safe travels xx
And to finish, I much prefer shows with substance, like "The Indie Project"!
So do we, we don't even have a TV, can't stand the put downs and distorted reality on popular TV.
Vegetarian or not that was not right to feed the animals to kill the bison. I am with you guys on that one. There is also vegetarian things in the mountains too. Deer and other animals and large gardens helped us through our hard times.
It sounds like they wanted to portray you in a "stereotypical" (lifestyle blogger/vlogger, vegetarian) sort of way. They probably had this planned from the very beginning in my opinion. They didn't expect you two to kick ass the way you did. :b They made sure they didn't show how well you were doing because it wouldn't have fit their agenda, so they made sure they cut scenes out, and made snarky comments on camera to make things look the way they wanted them to look. That's disappointing. No worries, though. We all know who you are and we love you!! You did a great job!!!
I agree with this 100%. You guys were cast to play a role like any actor/actress in a TV show. Since you didn't end up fitting their stereotypical view of the characters they wanted you to play, they had to improvise. It's unfortunate, but that's reality TV for ya. Glad you didn't let all the BS get to you and still managed to have a a good time.
Zeth Smith , no this is exactly what reality tv is like, what's with sarcasm, but that's why we like you tube shows! Yeah real reality!
WELL DONE GUYS, I watched the program and it was interesting, but knowing you guys you would soon be bored with living in one place. love your vlogs and you guys inspire my vlogs too so thx for that.
At least you got to visit Alaska and have an unforgettable experience 🤗
Making Moscow mules out of apple cider!
Interesting. Having a sister that produced and worked in TV you are just confirming what she used to tell me about what really went on! The whole show has been a huge disappointment in general. Your channel is far more fun and REAL. At least you got a trip to Alaska 🤗.
I thought you guys came over very well in the Bison episode. You were set up to fail and fall apart. You kept your integrity. Respect
Also odd was the premise of one couple had to stay behind as there was limited room - so why not wait until they had reduced the numbers? Clearly expected Theo and Bee to not want to go so they could make another vegetarian dig. Well good on you guys for proving them wrong and it's a shame that you got no credit for stepping out of your comfort zone.
I learned to hunt as a child, my da was born in 1917. He learned to hunt to live. He taught us that killing was different from hunting. We raise cattle to butcher and obviously they are raising bison to butcher but that is not hunting. So all that to say, if you're going to butcher, then do it but to call that hunting is ludicrous. Being upset or concerned about the idea that you'd drive up, feed, then shoot is not only understandable but should be considered proper!!!! No different to me than the original mass killing by the railroads. It's not hunting. I've long had suspicions about the staging of reality TV! I'm so glad you had the experience but prefer your genuine and real approach.
DITTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jan Moline brilliant...👍
I love your attitude towards killing animals, especially regarding using them for food. Look into how native Americans or the Inuit approach killing an animal, not only for food but everything else like clothing and housing. This a much respected way towards the animal. They would be horrified at how we treat animals raised for food and the waste it produces. Respect! Good for you to go back to Alaska and show them how it’s really done via your RUclips channel. Looking forward to that. Cheers.
Great comment that most people would not think about when eating meat. Dick Proenneke, an American that lived off the land in an Alaskan log cabin for decades did eat meat, but realized the more animals he killed the less he observed them in nature, so he cut down on "eating his neighbors"
I just finished watching the show and literally had no idea that you two were youtubers, let alone, living off the grid! I think you are right; you guys were TOO GOOD of candidates. Definitely changed my perception of you guys.
Thanks!
Hey Guys! New viewer here... I've just finished up watching Win the Wildness and have really enjoyed listening to your side of things here on RUclips. I was not aware of your body of work before the show and saw you two as great contenders for the prize based on what they showed us. I was completely bummed when you didn't get chosen on the 2nd episode to go up and feel that had you been chosen the outcome would have been different! You definitely deserved it! Actually I was a bit surprised with the final 4 couples to be honest and really didn't see any of them being legit contenders. Interesting to hear about the the reality of filming. Take care
Thank you! 🙏🏻 great to have you here
@@theindieprojects Maybe the winners are plants predetermined to win. That way they don't have to really give out any prize to the winners. Obviously reality shows are contrived, so we have to consider that nothing about it is what it appears. Well done to you two, you were too real for the show.
Hey Guys, for me, and i assume for more ppl, you both are the real winners!
Love Anna
Their loss, our continued gain.
absolutely!!
Your positive, honest and professional approach to this whole experience is truely inspiring. Thank you!
For what ?
I want your driving to Alaska ratings to beat the ratings for “Win a pile on a remote mountain”. You have really won the competition.
If you watched the show you'd know how beautiful the home and the people who built it are. You may not like this way of life but your harsh words are unnecessary.
Pile on a remote mountain ??? Wtf...the disrespect in your comment is disgusting to the Ose's
You 2 and Ginjee are winners in my book. Thank you for sharing your experience. You also reenforced my idea of reality tv.... producer driven.
I watched the entire show and could see you were being shut down a lot. I think you are probably right in thinking that your level of experience rubbed CJ up the wrong way. They definitely had pre-conceived ideas about who they wanted to choose. However I think that Duane and Rena want to give the mountain to some couple who are ready to settle there for 30 years. I think that even for a couple as capable as you guys, that sounds kind of boring. The world has so many exciting places to explore you would be better off in your van and travelling to Alaska!
As you know, they had an agenda and you obviously outdid what their expectations were of you.
yeah, I think so too
Very proud of you about the vegetarian issue. Keep fighting for a more compassionate world.
Just so you know my husband and I started watching the show on Netflix and we picked y'all from the start we were rooting for you !! I was sad u didn't make it but I think it's for the best y'all have such a dream life !! But now I found you on you tube so I'm thrilled !! Good luck to yall and you inspire me !
Thanks guys 🙏🏻
I stopped watching after the first episode when it was quite clearly apparent that it was the same old reality tv shite, rather than the informative documentary programme that it could have been. I think from the very start the bbc had a favourite couple who, no matter what they did, could have been eaten by bears, and would still have made it to the end and 'won'. In fact I don't actually believe that anyone will win the cabin. I think it's just a ploy to pit couples against each other in the name of reality tv and that there is no prize at the end of it.
I'm glad you didn't 'win', but must have been an amazing experience to visit such an unique place. I'm really looking forward to your future vlogs about your travels through Canada into Alaska. All of which will be much better edited and far more informative than the drivel that is the BBC's attempt.
I made it through the whole vlog, but have to say I was mainly watching Gingy in the background! All the best!
I only really watched it for the old home videos of Duane Ose building the place. That guy was great.
I thought so too but stuck with it and it does get better and the final episode, I thought, was outstanding.
Love you Guys - Personally I think you weren't picked as your "so solid" your not "entertainment" which is what they seem to be looking for - your not gonna have a melt down, get your kit off, or fall out with each other. As you say NO Drama - Also it may be that they may want to do a follow up show - those picked all have "issues" and I think thats what the BBC are counting on to keep the viewing figures up. Anyway their loss our gain - but love the fact that you can see through the fluff and still had a great time.
Agree with everything you say. Cj realised you were more capable than him so we're a threat. The programme is a good example of how not to make a programme
Definitely competition for viewing public x
Great video - reality TV is NOT reality. How cute is Ginjey Bear in the background!? 😘 ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I look forward to the documentaries you two make! You two are a great team, and I love that you take your 🐈 with you on your travels, keep the good work.
A fan from Denmark
After the 3rd couple went to the mountain I thought it was obvious you wasn't going because the last couple who went was on the opening video in the plane, I did also think they concentrated too much on finding a leader when whoever wins that would not be needed, and I did watch it till the end 😁
it was such a shame to see the spoilers in the opening credits!
Billy Roberts But it's not over yet. We're only at episode 4! Or have I missed something?
Oh! I realise now, you mean watched indie p's vid! My bad. 🤗
@@theindieprojects That's why i watched this video instead of Episode 4. BBC doesn't show who you two really are. Totally agree what you said on this video.
@@theindieprojects You've just given us a whopping great spoiler before the last episode by saying that Ose mountain 'sits empty.' Unless it's only sitting empty until the winning couple get things in order back in the UK. Either way, not really your place to say that.
We really enjoyed watching the show but are actually super excited that you are shipping the van and we get to see your van adventure in Alaska! You can keep the pound 😘
No we haven't, not seen it and have no wish to waste my time on such TV rubbish. Much prefer RUclips Vlogs by real people.
Theo said it, everything happens for a reason! You are where you are meant to be! Being thankful for the experience is the best! 🥰
Thank you guys..this was what I’ve been waiting for...thank you for clearing up a few things..( although I have read your blogs ) dodging the bullet phrase mmm...🤔🤔I think there’s something in that...if you had won I’m confident you would of made it work..but as you said near the end ...life’s a journey and I think you have to keep moving..and the mountain cabin did seem like a huge commitment...and someone else’s dream....and it could possible make you feel trapped ..when you get to Canada I can definitely see you more like that couple you spent the day with...building your dream cabin...just like Portugal...but different climate/ culture ... another continent to experience and share with all of us! 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕
As someone born and raised in Alaska, GOOD JOB!
Thank you 😊
"If you watch an animal die you should be sad!" Amen u r correct. Praise God you spoke up about this!
By the way. I live in the States. It is not normal for all of us to hunt. I live on 10 acres. Lots of deer hunters around us and I get sad anytime I hear a gun shoot. Like you if someone needed the food I would feel different. I do not deer hunt. Even fishing makes me sad.
Hunting and fishing for sustenance are far more humane forms of killing and honoring an animals life than mass produced meat and fish
@@designdoctor247 omg! I’ve finally found someone with the same sentiment as me. I live in the south near a hunting area and I can’t count how many times I’ve just cried knowing innocent animals have just been murdered to be posed with for a stupid tinder pic 🙄 or hastily cut up just for some of the meat and that’s it. & I, too, refuse to go fishing now since I always hope to catch a small one so I can throw it back and would be upset if I caught a big size one.
If people didn't hunt the animals would literally die from disease and over population. Hunting is a part of conservation and keeping the wildlife healthy. It is a normal cycle of life.
They’re called the Biased Broadcasting Corporation for a reason. They show what they want and not a true representation of what actually happens.
You guys are the winners in all this. Look forward to your North American travels.
I still don't understand why you'd want to live there. Can't see you two being stuck in one place for the rest of your lives looking after a cabin on Ose Mountain. Yes, everything happens for a reason...someone has better plans in store for you :)
We really enjoyed listening to your version. It answered a lot of questions and to be honest confirmed how we felt. You must have been very frustrated in parts....every credit to you both. You have discussed and handled this brilliantly in our view. Look forward to watching your next adventure!
I'm a hunter, that isn't...good on your honesty, crap on the crier commenter. When you shoot an animal you need you give thanks to the animal for giving itself to you for food. It's a living circle.
Wow, it is so disappointing how these shows produce the results to look like only a very specific set of masculine traits are the only ones worthwhile.
the same as the "tiny house" shows.
I felt their negative vibe towards you guys from the outset, as soon as you ate your first (vegetarian) meal. Just from watching the episodes (without already knowing your backgrounds/strengths) it was obvious you performed well & then were overlooked each time.
Lol theo rocked up to Alaska without waterproof clothing. Had nothing to do with being a vegetarian
My favorite park, the cat in the background.
First time watching, entire time I’m wondering...is that a real cat or a painting of a cat on pillows?
Guys I always watch your vids(years) and don’t comment, but honestly love the the honesty in this vlog, think you said it how it is,glad you enjoyed the experience and yep you could have nailed IC mountain, but I thing your best doing your own thing and not finishing off someone else’s dream ,take care and best wishes to you both and gingey bear x
Can you guys ask the BBC to give you the footage that was cut, so you can post it on RUclips?
Like no way would the BBC allow that.
Id doubt it was the BBC anyhow, most BBC shows are made by third party production companies?
New favorite couple after watching your video. It's crazy how they can take the footage and twist it to make you both look how they want you to look. You guys seem real genuine. Btw I like the wood you guys got going on the walls and ceiling wherever y'all are.
Cheers Al! Really appreciate that. This was filmed in our van 😀
Watched until the end and very interesting too, I thought the program was very badly edited and the episode where you two went missing completely was bizarre, I kept thinking surely they haven’t refused to use a gun, but now we know ,seems like you really where treated unjustly in many ways, but never the less you at least know what to expect when you arrive in Alaska. Sod the BBC , you will I’m sure make a much more interesting film than they managed, and better editing no doubt. All the best to you both, and Ging , and have a safe journey.
Loved seeing Ginjey dozing on your pillows behind yoy🐾
well my coffee went up my nose when I heard the comment...they spend all summer cutting the wood and all winter burning it...lol...priceless
Too True though 😥❤🇨🇦
Yup, enjoyed that comment as well!
“The last thing you want is to wake up dead” 😱🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love you guys!! I was rooting for y’all to win!
Cheers
You passed my RUclips page almost 8 months ago. When you were getting roof issues fixed. I Luv how well you work together your home is going to be so cozy and beautiful. When it all done. Excited for all your future projects. ♥️
Great upload guys, very honest and interesting to hear the behind the scenes detail. I have already commented that I felt you had unfair airtime in comparison with the others. As a fan of the Indie Projects and of your lifestyle choices (goals), I tuned into this show curious and in support of you guys. I don't think I will watch the final episodes and if I am completely honest, I am glad that you haven't had to tie yourselves down to a specific location. May your wanderlust continue, good luck for the future and keep on making great content x
I finally got around to watching this episode and wow you guys are very generous in your kindness. Kudos to you both for showing how these shows are never what they seem... and for doing it in such a positive way. I hope you are no longer under any contractual obligations with the program and can just say as you please. Glad you are doing your barn conversion instead of living on the mountain... more on your own terms and not at all "American" ... I have nothing against our neighbors... just we get so much American content in Canada... I truly appreciate seeing European/Brit content and .... your accents don't hurt either. lol
you guys were my favourite to win and I was sad to see you go! I do hope that you will get to Canada when all the world drama is over!
I watched the show because of you two and the fact you were in it. They have missed a trick as you are perfect to live there. Keep doing what you are doing, inspirational.
Wow wow wow! I just binged the entire series and then looked up your channel because honestly, I could not understand why you two were given so little credit! You stood out to me from episode 1, and literally, every time they were about to say who it was who was going to get to go up to One mountain, I was SURE it was going to be you two, and it never was. Also, as a vegetarian myself, I am definitely sure that that part of your lifestyle put a target on you from the start. I think you both are more than capable and deserved a fair shot, but I honestly do think that you did dodge a bullet with what's happening with Duane now.... Yikes!
I also really hope you guys do get to drive across Canada and into Alaska someday! (I'm from British Columbia, Canada). I wish you all the best and I'm so looking forward to following and keeping up with where life takes you!
Loved this episode! I’m not able to watch BBC, so have just been keeping tabs via what you post on social media. I appreciate the brutal honesty you shared here and all the genuinely fun behind the scenes info, and can’t even believe that was an hour-long episode. I always feel like I’m sitting down for a chat with you guys. Keep up the great work!
I’m a dairy farmer and eat meat. I’ve seen so many animals die and even I would cry after my first kill. I’ve never hunted but I sure as hell would be upset ‘hunting’ in someone’s backyard ranch.... luring the animal to trust you 3 ft away because they’re your own livestock is cheating. It’s not real hunting.
stealing babies from their mothers to take their milk isn't "farming"
Clyde A. Hutchison IV stealing babies? Okay then I’ll leave the babies with the mom to get laid on and crushed to death, or even stepped on with a broken leg. Learn farming before you comment ignorant bs.
Brilliant video and well done on the amazing experience you must have had! I just came across the series by chance and this video through another van life youtuber and it was great, but anyone who knows anything about how hard it is really living in a remote area, how nature works, the often monotonous tasks required for basic living and that way of life could see the series was stage managed.
Watching the video now and you're on about the Bison episode and I was shocked at what seemed like a 'farm', completely opposite to the actual reality of hunting in the wild. I couldn't beleive they said about you being the ones who'll cry too!
Only seen up to episode 5 so I'll watch that first before the rest😆
I’m glad you had the opportunity to travel in Alaska even though the producers were dishonest.
I am 71 years old born in northern Maine and I am proud to be a fan of yours. Your the greatest folks.
It seems to me that the show was looking for 'reality TV' drama; you guys are the real deal...what a shame...however, this wasn't for you, so you can create your own Alaskan adventure! I look forward to following it!
Really *really* interesting video. Thanks for taking the time to fully explain the whole experience and for being so frank and candid. I’ve had some very limited experience with taking part in TV shows and TV news items and also have found the experiences very ‘guided’, closely controlled and somewhat surprising! I’m glad you were able to get a lot from your time there despite so many difficult things to contend with. You guys always seem so level headed, considered and honest - I’m glad you were able to (mostly) dissect, digest and move forward from the experience, and get back to controlling your own image and creating your own content 👏👍
Yeah not having an introduction on the first episode was sooooo obvious.
What an awesome thing. You both “lost” but in reality you won much more. It was your true path that was plotted...I’m grateful to join you in your ever changing journey. 😍
You should change the name of your channel to "True Grit and Tenacity"
True grit and one monster cat lol
Y'ALL ARE THE BEST!!! NO REALITY SHOW IS GOING TO MESH WITH YOU GUYS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO MUCH EXPERIENCE AND NOTHING ABSOLUTELY BOTHERS YOU BOTH... IDEALLY YOU TWO WOULD HAVE MADE THE SHOW BORING BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO DRAMA AND KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!! LOVE Y'ALL SO MUCH!!! KEEP UP THE REALITY ON YOUR SHOW AND HOW THE REAL WORLD ACTUALLY HAPPENS!!
They wanted to couple with the MS lady . The whole “ being to honest “ thing . Y’all are drama free ! That’s the problem. Also , the reason I love to watch you
Hat's off guys and thank you for posting this... fascinating insight and as others have said better than the series!!! Looking forward to your next and 'honest' adventures as always!!
I hardly ever comment on RUclips videos but I just want to say how inspiring you guys are, and for exposing the falseness of what we see so often in the media! X
You’re winners to all of us!
I live in the states, therefore , I haven’t seen the show.
Having not met you, yet.... (I’m hoping that you stop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania- where I live...) but by watching your videos I think I can tell that you’re genuine, positive people.
That’s what truly matters, what values, morals and standards you have.
I appreciate both of you so much and I love each and every episode of your videos.
Just keep being true to yourselves, we’re not going anywhere!
Donna
Give Genghi a cuddle from me.
It's extremely frustrating to be mislead, overlooked and misrepresented. They sound like a mob of egotistical a/holes. Maybe you did dodge a bullet of sorts. 😉
Jeff somersby omg so true! Why do these shoes keep getting made?!
I honestly thought it awesome program- not so much that I believe in the reality shows I just love the Alaska views and the cabin beautiful. You two were my favorite couples.
Also as for part 2 both of you should have been listen too especially you Theo ...iI cracked up at the "boys" choosing the direct route when u literally was wise saying look there already a path here and save their energy for other obstacles along way. Lol I loved it seeing some of the as we country ppl from US say city folks going be out in woods. Lol
Just finished watching the show on Netflix and loved reading your blog posts and seeing the video for background. Thanks for sharing-and for a well rounded and honest recap!
Loved this vid ( as always!)...like Theo said " everything happens for a reason" really looking forward to next part of your journey ....love gingey bear in background!
Grinning away hearing you say that you'll be shipping the van to Canada by end of March 2020. The world turned on its head around March and we still don't know how things will be going forward.
Love watching what you do. Wish you a lifetime of exploration.
And Theo, being a Renaissance Man is much better than being a “manly man “.
They're both good.
Well Theo and B you are WINNERS in our eyes. We feel that if CJ s feedback had been different such as informing the owners of Ose mountain the truth - Peter and Jayne DID leave out the most important cover to keep them warm from hypothermia! YOU REMEMBERED YOURS, YOU BUILT THE BIGGEST SHELTER TOO AS CJ informed them and you have been together 13 years - perfect ! You should have been up Ose mountain : the best !!!
You KNOW why you were booted................. you KNEW too much!!! Too good............ not "playing the games" mate!! LOL
Don’t worry guys- you’ve already won. You’re life is wonderful, wild, adventurous, hard, and rewarding! You are both so kind and have so many people who adore you and support you! Keep on adventuring and be safe! ❤️🚐🌲
I didn't watch the series. I stay away from contrived TV produced crap. I love the comment below saying YOU BROKE THE BBC 😂😂 Thank you for a great hour . I love all you do and share.
I have so much respect for you two. For what you do and how you do it! You are far too authentic for network television. I have been following you for years and will continue to do so. You put out excellent content that is real and photographed very well. And it sounds like your channel pays better. Thank you. And I now have a major crush on Bee!
Great video, very interesting. My wife and I talked about so many of the points you’ve mentioned in this video and totally agree with the sentiment.
A good life lesson guys. I just started following you recently while you are in Portugal. Media is far from honest or fair. Just watching you two, I would have thought you are both leaders. You are certainly, down to Earth and have good senses of humour. Enjoy your Now in Portugal.
Sadly, it wasn’t an interesting show, I love watching anything ‘Alaska.’ Not the BBC’s best. We gave up watching it last week. I don’t think you’ve missed out but came away with an experience of Alaska, wonderful!
I do not watch tv at all. I have no idea what this show is. However I am very satisfied watching your progress in Portugal. Thank you for allowing us a glimpse of you living on your homestead. 😊🇨🇦
You did a great job, for me you’re always the best and I’m looking forward to the next road trip.
Watching the episodes it was clear you were head and shoulders above the others and more than that just such a perfect fit. Even though you were wrongfully criticized and mischaracterized, it never once hid your genius. If you had been allowed to win, you would have hit the ground running, fulfilled the dreams they had for the property, lived there happily, and been a great asset to the region. It was sad to learn Ose built in such a precious place so he could profit off trapping, killing, and selling wildlife pelts. It seemed the winners had no interest of ever living there and even now only wish to stay away from the place and Ose is lashing out after learning he backed the wrong horse. Thank you for this clip, it filled the gaps the show left out. And keep your head up, life has a lot waiting for you.
All credit to you for doing the show. You ended in the perfect place ‘everything happens for a reason’. You would easily have survived on OC but was it right for you? I think the life there might have been a bit limited for your free spirits. Looking forward to you shipping the van and the next chapter. Well done.
I have only just watched the movie. And knowing what you have achieved and overcome to date, I kept thinking they have to pick you guys! I was so gutted that the Ose's underestimated you and your ability to pick a vision and see it through. Oh well, you have so much to show for the past two years. Well done you.
Sadly I do think you 2 were seriously sidelined and misrepresented on this show, probably because you don't come with drama and you would be the natural choice for this ordinarily, but that doesn't make good tv. People want to see you go on a journey, to overcome things, to struggle and then win out, not see people who can actually do all of this anyway and would cope pretty well. Why else would they hide your true background/experience and you succeeding at the tasks, then put a couple where 1 person has MS (who will need medication and may have days in the future where she's not able to get out of bed, let alone do anything physically demanding), an older couple who are desperate for grandkids, and a couple of academics who have just been together for a year on the show - all of which would make them a lot less suitable to be holed up on a mountain 100 miles from anywhere or anyone (in my personal opinion). My suspicions are that you were there because of your huge following, to boost the programme's viewing/ratings, not to do well on the show. Otherwise why would you have been portrayed the way you were in the edits, and not given a shot to go up to the mountain, which clearly don't represent you 2 at all! Very sad and hugely disappointing from the BBC. I actually think what you share from your travels to North America will be far more interesting and entertaining, and you'll have an incredible time on your own terms, so from that perspective I am really glad you didn't win. I also hope you have built your own following as a result of this as well! (It will be interesting to see the shows rating when you're no longer on it - the Beeb might just have under-estimated how loyal your following are and don't like to see people being screwed over!)
PS I just read an American article that says the Ose's moved out of their house last September, so if the house is still empty as you say, that's nearly 6 months of no-one living there. That was the exact opposite of what they said they wanted for the place. The same article also said the production company offered this to US tv companies and no-one was interested, so then they tried the BBC - the back story to this seems more interesting than the show itself...
Really enjoyed this video, a real insight into the making of the program. Looking forward to seeing your own adventure in Alaska.
This was so interesting Theo and Bee, enjoyed it so much more than the program.
hi theo and bee! found the series 4 years too late, now that it's on netflix. thought you two were the logical choice for inheriting ose mountain and found the epsiodes so strange. have gone down a major rabit hole since finishing the show this evening to see how everything turned out years later, and was shocked to hear all the news. such a shame what happened to rena and the bizzare situation with duane. think you definitely dodged a bullet and although this is the first time i have looked through your videos, it's clear just how much you guys are capable of. as a 20 year-old, living in the uk, i'll definitely be watching your videos going forward. amazing to see what you guys have been up to since the show aired!
Thanks so much ❤️
Well done for staying true to yourselves and eachother through all.of this. There was something weird about the whole programme it somehow didn't seem genuine and too good to be true.
You guys both are great at giving each other space to talk together. Well done.
Bee: "The last thing you want is to wake up dead." That made me laugh. This is why I don't like reality TV - the editing is horrible. I still think you two should have won. Well, we are glad you are here. Their loss for sure. And I agree 100% - everything happens for a reason! Can't wait to see your next adventures!
Just completed the series today on Netflix. Absolutely loved it and so glad to find your dedicated channel.
