    Excellent discussion on the +/- issues of highbanker leg attachment design. I bet you sell a ton of those.

    Great info! Love the fact that I won't have to test at all when I finally get out there with one of your bankers. You are doing it for me....Thanks again!

    the thinner backed miners moss is the way to go . Making your wheels a quick attach would enable the option to use in easy to traverse areas . Smaller 8" wider solid rubber wheels will go over easier gravel sand bars and will take a lot of the weight . I have them on my sluice box . if one was to make the quick attach pin lock you could go anywhere rolling or carrying

    Kyle - 1. great idea to test the Infinity cleanup sluice by sucking up just the straight drop riffles separate from the circular wells! 2. Also - you are doing some excellent analysis - very in-depth. 3. I don't know anyone else who is taking a balanced view across multiple manufacturers and products like you are. Well done, keep it up! 4. You have lots of good ideas, hope you are able to prototype them all. 5. Completely agree with you about a flat hopper and a steep grizzly. 6. Something seldom discussed is stamina as a limiting factor. Getting a really big highbanker is pointless if you don't have the stamina to feed it properly. So many people think that the bigger the the highbanker, the more gold. That is only true if one has the stamina to keep up with the box. I have a 6 inch highbanker, and have yet to 'out dig' it. Fitness and free time are two of the biggest limiting factors, and they have nothing to do with equipment.

    That 3 inch mini cleanup sluice from Infinity is great. its a cleanup sluice for concentrates and the majority of the flour gold gets caught up in the top riffles...you will catch it in the drop riffles and round vortex riffles but majority will be in the top riffles. This is what i use to clean up my cons and then pan it out or run it on miller table.

    I'm not from your area but one of my favorite highbankers come from geosluice. It requires no mats but classifying the material is important (just as it should be). Perfect for targeting an area at higher volume. Downside, it's not a shovel unit to move more material once your hot spot is narrowed down. Not sure if that helps but I love the small down time between clean ups with a setup like the geosluice (drop riffle design)

    • @UtmostOutdoors
      @UtmostOutdoors  Год назад +1

      I just googled Geosluice, looks like they have something that used to be called the G1 highbanker. Cool stuff! I love drop riffles, I'll definitely have to test with them more in the future.

      For moving large volume of dirt, there is the "Super Wide High Banker Drop Riffle Gold Sluice" a similar design to G-1 Highbanker, a power sluice Designed by Joel Farmer from many years ago. Doing a cleanup in under 1 minute is good.

    Cool video buddy!! You covered lots of good points, Ab flour is hard to get. Im running a 10" HB, shovel hard and it works great. 36" hopper flared out to 14" top with wrap around spray bar, 1/4" punch plate covers whole hopper with moss and carpet under it(I catch around 50% of my gold in hopper) I put 1/8" mesh over punch plate for Alberta flour but pull the mesh when I went to Yukon. Hopper goes down to 48" main sluice running DM beach mat with carpet and moss in the drop zone, then a 44" extension running gold hog with more carpet between the mats. Ive tested many times with a stream sluice at the end but didnt find much I think im catching at least 98%. I had couple slick plates but I find its better to have full mats. My sluice slides together/collapses with pump, hoses and everything I need in hopper also has wheels so its easy to get to the river. Hope the best for you in 2023!!

    • @UtmostOutdoors
      @UtmostOutdoors  Год назад

      Sounds like a solid setup! I've seen a few other boxes with moss in the hopper and a wrap around spray bar. Catching 50% up there is a great start. I'm wondering if I can use the mud busting blaster setup spraying from the bottom and still hold on to gold that well in the hopper. Lots of testing to do!

      @@UtmostOutdoors I've tried a number of them. There isn't much for reports of gold other than an old 'gold rush' that seems to have turned out to be a bit bogus. This is just a big sand bar, no actual rock here like in NS or NB. I would think there has to be flour gold, at least a piece here or there somewhere... there are quartz pebbles in the sand and banks but small, far between and river run for sure, ground down. So whatever would be here would be pretty sparse. Will be heading to NS this year to do some panning.

    Great video and it all makes sense from what I have learnt so far. Have you ever looked at viable options for an electric pump with one of those power supplies? Like a Jackery with some panels to supplement power? I would like a high banker setup some day but don't want to go gas pump.

    • @UtmostOutdoors
      @UtmostOutdoors  Год назад +1

      If you think about it, all that is required for that is a bilge pump that puts out a high enough volume of water to run your sluice of choice. If we look at a 8" box flared out the 12", that would run well at 20 gallons per minute which is 1200GPH. in the real world you could use either two of those cheap 1100gph pumps that actually only put out 700gph ( ruclips.net/video/zy_hZl8OZuQ/видео.html ) or just find a single larger pump that can keep up. I would guess a power use just over 100 watts, meaning a Jackery 500 would run it for 4-5 hours, or a LiFePO4 battery could work quite nicely as well. So long as you are reasonably close to the river electric pumps can push plenty of water and you would be able to run a full size unit fairly easily.

    I stop the video at 2:21 an write this. I'm curious about what follows but my thoughts in advance =).
    i like your hopperbox and the 2 storey sluicebox underneath. but i think you will need more length and alternating mats to really catch all the gold.
    of course you can say "it's not important to me to catch everything" but it's your time, energy and money that you invest.
    and in my opinion you should be worth it to at least catch everything as best you can.
    I have a goldhog piglet with an extension and a flare. but also dreammat and infinity vdr mats in it. I am now even thinking about installing another 2m sluicebox under the hopper (lift it a little bit up) and the original sluicebox to be able to use it with other self-made (3d printed mats). i try to use the best of all possibilities to absorb as much as possible. even if it is at most a hobby for me ^^.

    • @UtmostOutdoors
      @UtmostOutdoors  Год назад +1

      I was thinking for a test I could try splitting my mat into sections and do a cleanout where I see what percentage of gold I find in each section as well as in an extension. That way I could see what percentage of gold I would loose based on the length of the sluice. My aim is to get 95% recovery by weight, with just one cleanout at the end of the day, and not carry extra weight beyond that. It will be a good summer figuring it all out!

    As usual, great video! Is there any plans in the works to make a small trommel?

    • @UtmostOutdoors
      @UtmostOutdoors  Год назад +1

      Good question. I have run into a few spots where a tommel would help me out. Areas with lots of clay and muck. Also spots with grass roots. I spoke to a trommel user and they said even their trommel had a hard time with the roots and organics, while it did help with the clay and muck. So right now, my number one goal is to get as close as possible to the effectiveness of a trommel, without the weight and complexity. So no trommel in the works right now. But if I decide I "need" one, then I guess I'll have to build one.

    Gold to Black sand ratio - I Love your thinking.
    Not so sure thats gonna make you rich.
    Rich people get rich by fooling the people , NOT by educating the people.
    But in my eyes , you are already rich - shame you can't afford to put food on the table.

      I'm still a proud table owner for now! Even have foot on that table. Luckily I had some saving to fall back on in that regard. I'm curious about that "gold to black sand ration" and actually have a good feeling about that matting. I'm open to it working at least, I have no bias against giving it a try. But at the end of the day, the mat doesnt matter anywhere near as much as the ground you are able to access. Thanks for watching! I peer in on your channel from time to time.
      PS: where in Australia are you from, I'll be down under later this year.
