    Man We are a section 3 NZ (C Grade) band. We would certainly never attempt this it would be a bridge too far. This has to be some of the finest Brass Band playing I've ever seen. It's a mad piece of music and not to everybody's taste, but obviously right up my street. Fantastic performance and a well deserved win.

    1-14-17 The talented people in this wonderful world of ours! It always amazes me how these people positively use their God given talents, practice faithfully and have the courage to perform in front of big and small audiences and share the inspiring music written by other talented people! It fills us with joy and a respite from the big world we live in. We all appreciate you!💖

    Being a trumpet/cornet player from the U.S., I have always thought that cornetists in the great British bands play all this technically demanding stuff, take a bow at the end of their performance, and then go out and drink extensively. They have kick ass bends there for certain and they relish their playing and good competition.

    In my experience you have to listen to such a piece MORE than ONE time !
    I´ve heard many championships and almost every band that was playing. But the amazing thing was that sometimes a band seems to play a different piece.
    Very important point : Live is always better !
    @Simon Phillips : A Derek Bourgeois would be really great, I love his Ballet For Band.

    Fantastic, not whistle the tune on way home from rehearsal? Brilliant musicianship but how far away from melody does the movement have to digress to find the best band?

  • @Tetley02

    I agree. Very well played but so boring. What happened to bands trying to entertain. This is a case of a band playing solely for points rather than for their audience. I have never been to a championship and after watching this I can't see myself wasting the time to do so.

      I cannot see the point of test pieces but there are some Salvation Army music now used as a test piece( as the copyright has run out) for brass bands in all Sections. However, they were nevermeant to show off the players but rather written by inspired writers expressing through music their Christian witness and their love of God. Very atmospheric with lovely melodies. Why not attend one of their "concerts" at a salvation army Church near you?

    • @brianadamson2335
      @brianadamson2335 5 лет назад +1

      I have never heard this musical "terminology" it may well be because I play in a Salvation Army band! See also my reply to Tetley02.
