Thank you for the shout out Chris excellent job looking spot on bud 👌 clad you cut the bottom of the wing off you would be kicking yourself not cutting out that rust and have to do that repair when all painted 👍
Thanks again Sid, I didn’t even know the front of the sill had rust in it till I cut the bottom of the wing off. So glad I found it now and not later like you have said, after a paint job. 👍 I can’t wait to cut the drivers sill off to see if there is any rust behind it.
The passenger doors never come off on the pins - because they don't get enough use, usually - I pull the dash & unbolt the hinges from inside. You could use dynamite & them pins wouldn't budge. If you don't cut the bottom off the wing, you can't properly fit the outer sill - so it has to go. Usually, it's pretty corroded anyway - I weld it back on regardless in order to have a proper shape to go off when making new wing-bottom bits - you can cut the grot & replace later.
Yes it’s definitely the way to repair the sill and A piller. A fellow RUclipsr did a little video on where he cut his wing on his Xr3i restoration, he’s called Sid’s xr3i restoration. I’m looking forward to doing the drivers side as someone has already welded a half sill on but I bet it’s rusty behind it, so keep an eye out for that video.👍
@@ModernClassics81 I'm going out to the workshop in about 10 minutes to lash into one - no need for video. :-) Welding rust on Fords is what we do. First though, Coffee..
Mine went in all the same areas as well mate. I've put a video up on here of the before & after. Your's will look lovely when it's finished mate, great video's as well. ruclips.net/video/dIgSEG0FTbc/видео.html
Wow, yours looks amazing mate! Thanks for the link to your video, I’m definitely going to remove the dash and front screen to check the bottom corner. I didn’t know they go there too👍
@@ModernClassics81 thank you mate….I think they go everywhere to be honest! 🤣 definitely worth removing the dash though, mine had started going between the a pillar as well, so best to get that sorted before it’s a problem. Great job though mate, enjoying the videos 👌🏻👍🏻
😊well done look forward to the other half of the video
Thank you.
