  • Shallow Prespawn Fishing on the California Delta... A few days ago I hit the California Delta after work in search of more Prespawn Bass. At the start of my trip I was thinking the fish would be in deeper sections of the water getting ready to push up shallow but I soon figured out that there were quite a few fish already shallow. The water was pretty dingy so I could not make out any beds but my guess is that some of the males have moved up shallow in anticipation for the spawn and hopefully the big girls are close behind.

    That Megabass Jerkbait on Amazon... 37 bucks???? That's more than I spent on 4 oz. of hand sanitizer.

      Was that really the price? I paid that much for 2 rolls of TP on eBay today. Lol

    subscribed -- liking your vids -- interesting comment about using fish finders in Delta. I want to get a Garmin Striker for taking out kids and getting into crappie and bluegill -- seems like it will be useful there -- finding those spots before they go into shallows in summer.

      Yeah that makes sense, and there are some helpful things with the FF in the Delta but just not a total necessity like it would be on many lakes. Thanks for watching and good like out there with the kids!

    Man all of those Tulies looked good and that mat looked good for a frog. How do you figure out which ones are holding fish? I would try a booyah pad crasher, berkley choppo, or spook down the edge of it. I wished I had somewhere around me that looked like that. 👊👍

    • @Outwestwithchris1
      @Outwestwithchris1  4 года назад

      Yeah topwater on the edges of the Tullies can be money, something I tend to do a bit more in the warmer weather. As far as which ones to toss at, they can be holding in any of them really so it becomes a percentage game when the bite is on. More casts = more fish.

    It's not a ghost when the tulles move lol. Good advice for those who don't know.

    You did pretty good with that wacky rig. I've never tried it, but I plan to. How exactly do you fish one? It looked like you were just letting it sink on a slack line and watching the line for a bite. Is that all there is to it? Oh, and the tip on watching the tules is great! Tight lines!

    • @robreid3521
      @robreid3521 4 года назад +1

      I have found that they hit the worm as it sinks, I when I feel it hit bottom then I pop it back up bring in slack let it sink again

      Like the worm, they tag it as it sinks, hate when slack hit though. Awesome video 👍

    • @Outwestwithchris1
      @Outwestwithchris1  4 года назад +2

      MrBlueSky that's pretty much it. I do use the line as a strike indicator, a line that floats like a copolymer or mono will help is sink a little slower and the line stays visible a little bit longer as well. I might let it sit on the bottom for a few seconds and then raise it up and repeat.

    • @Outwestwithchris1
      @Outwestwithchris1  4 года назад +2

      Rob, I use the slack as a strike indicator basically. It doesn't always work to my advantage but it's done well for me. Tight lines man!
