I live in the arctic in the north of Norway and today we had 69 cm of snow; and we don't have carpets here. We just use big rugs on our wooden floors and it's not cold as long as the wooden floor doesn't have gaps in them. Yes if it's an old house with original floors it might be cold, but again big area rugs basically do the same thing, but thankfully you can easily swap them out and clean them.
I live in Seattle (very similar weather to London), and my house has absolutely zero carpet. Just lots and lots of wool area rugs. It still makes the room feel cozy, but you can still see the beautiful 100-year-old fir floors. I can't imagine covering them with carpet!
Yes same here in north of Sweden. But i guess it's because it's a tradition the UK... It's also a weird way to look at wooden floors, that they're just pretty on instagram and not suitable for a baby to crawl on haha.
I’m so glad you’ve decided to do some more interiors content, I really enjoyed your reno series! Totally agree that more wood tones and a larger tv will help the space, looking forward to seeing the end result. Rebecca’s instagram is also well worth a follow, great collab 👌🏼
Gayle Matheson I’m excited to be doing it too. I didn’t think I’d be able to as we’d done everything but actually our bedroom and spare room never really got finished so I think there’s a little bit left to be done x
Lily Pebbles I’ve had a similar experience with the bedroom, can’t seem to settle on a colour scheme that feels right for the space. Sounds like you’ve got some great ideas in here that are still practical for your lifestyle, excited to see what you choose! X
Maybe a bit of a controversial opinion: I would leave the built-in closet and the door in this colour and would paint the rest of the room white. So you have the beautiful effect of the colour without it taking over the whole room. And the door would just reflect it a bit more. I feel like there would be way more room for styling...
This is exciting, I love interior design! I agree with what you both said, the room would be lifted with a lot more raw textures and earthy tones - jute rug, different woods, bamboo plant by the window? Decorative uneven vases to style the shelves, maybe some ivy hanging down... that industrial, unfinished vibe that many modern Brooklyn apartments have would look lovely with the setting plaster colour.
Thank you for sharing what doesn't work in your bedroom - we've all had that sinking feeling when our style choices are great separately but just don't work together. Excited to see the end result!
It's totally normal to have carpet in rooms in Australia too. Some of the hotter climates tend to have just floorboards but really in cooler states (and even warmer) carpet is really common. Especially in bedrooms. Excited to see what you decide.
Looking forward to seeing the updates! I have a feeling that the next video we’ll find out Samsung “kindly reached out” and will be gifting The Frame TV 😏 Definitely think the room needs more texture and natural materials. With the walls and carpet it’s looking very flat. Even just adding a chunky knit throw in a creamy white to the bed would make such a difference. I’d also do printed curtains to break up all the flat colors.
Absolutely agree with everything she said. Wood makes the room more masculine and a well styled shelf above the tv is perfect. Gallery wall with artistic pictures of you rich and grey is so personal and beautiful in a bedroom. Can’t wait for episode 2. (I personally love cosy carpet in the bedroom)
This was sooo interesting!! I love how you’ve brought in someone else to help you with this project, loved hearing her ideas! Can’t wait to see the rest of the videos!
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with Lily! It was fun hearing how her ideas were similar to yours. So cute hearing Grae at the end of this video!
Totally agree with you on the room. It's looks pretty good, but just not quite gelling aesthetically. I had a similar issue with my place, where I bought things that independently looked great, but didn't quite work together, so I had to switch some things out over time.
@@lilypebbles go for it. We did it with the radiator in our sitting and were so glad we did. It makes the radiator far less noticeable. Also, if you're trying to keep the cost of re-doing the room down, you could try putting a timber top onto your console instead of buying something new. That way you'd still have the storage you need but it would look better in the room.
Love these videos Lily, we're leaving our flat soon for a "proper" house (as you said), so we'll have to style lots of new spaces again, and series like this are inspiring. I agree that wood and darker colors will look great with that wall paint, and some textured cushions will break the uniformity of the bed. Looking forward to the final result!
Loved this video Lily. As you were showing us round the room I’d already created a mood board in my head which pretty much matched what your interior design friend said :) great to work collaboratively - think having a feel good bedroom is so important for a sense of inspiration and wellbeing - excited to see the results! X
Loved that you brought in Rebecca to help. I think it’s so useful to hear a designer’s thought process. Looking forward to seeing how it comes together!
This video was so good! The part with Rebecca was so instructive in how to think about doing a room. She seems super talented. Thanks for sharing the process!
LOVE my white linens, gives that fancy hotel feel and makes me happy and relaxed when I get into bed. I have some throw pillows from LuRu Home that also have white in them and keeps it crisp but also unifies it with the rest of the room. Really like the idea of wallpapering the space between the built-in cabinets. Maybe a classic and whimsical Scandinavian print? I like my bedroom to feel anchored in an aesthetic that reflects what I’ve always responded to and, thus, will feel good for a long time. For me, that sense of it feeling very personal suits a bedroom because it’s where you want to feel most comfortable.
This is such a great idea!!!! I think most of us have rooms that aren't quite as we want them, but it's hard to pin point what's not working. This is a gazillion times more useful than an IG post of a perfect bedroom. Great content!
Really excited to see the changes... I think the headboard should be lower and in a different colour and either side tables in wood or even a floating shelf. You could also put a hanging shelf above the tv and display some books and low vases... and underneath the tv some more coffee table books, some wooden boxes in black and they can hold the remote and misc items.... definitely some square pillows to dress up the bed and if you use white fluffy duvet - put a comfy throw across the bottom half... that has the wall colour and black and dark grey in it.... Very happy you are creating a fresh space for you guys to enjoy. xo
I said right from the start "bigger TV". So glad she brought it up. I would still put up curtains even if it's just on the two outer windows and not the whole bay window area
Everything you’re saying is how I’m feeling about my bedroom at the moment! Me and my boyfriend moved in together around 6 months ago and I love how I’ve decorated the rest of our flat but haven’t enjoyed our bedroom since we moved in! I keep changing everything too and I can’t quite decide what’s wrong with it!! Excited to see what you do with your room, hopefully I can get some inspo xx
Change the doors for a more wooden color. I know brits love to pain over doors and windows with the same color they did the wall, but that looks plain cheap. Change carpet for wooden floors. Change the bed for something very retro simple. No plushy things because your room is small. Maybe change the positioning of the bed facing window, since you cant make it face the opposite wall due to integrated cabins and TV. Have you considered painting the wardrobes different colour? The main issue is the pink shade ALL OVER. A) it’s not exactly an attractive shade and B) IT”S EVERYWHERE. Tiles, frames..everything. The ikea table is different style as well. Maybe get brownish/dark greyish curtains for added contrast. You have a grey carpet that you don’t want to change. Grey mixes good with green, gold or blue and gold.
I love her ideas! How about replacing the “shelf” area under your tv with wood or marble? It would break up the expanse of pink and look lovely accessorized too.
Rebecca just messaged me like OMG marble on there would look amazing!! haha. it really would, I'm just not sure if it's an extra expense that'll be worth it. We've added it to the wishlist of things we want to do if we have left over budget! Thanks for the idea x
I love marble too but I’m afraid it will look a little too “girly” and “millennial” (ugh, hate that I used those phrases but you know what I mean). Wood would bring it down to earth a bit and I always try to remember that there is a man living in this room as well lol
Get a rug or two smaller ones. Jute rug or boho type one. Wood top on your desk to break it up to match side tables if you need the vanity. Curtains definitely. Sheer and curtains layer them
always thought its weird to paint everything same colour as the walls (door, wardobes, skirting boards) maybe it needs some of that contrast between things?? so its not all blended? interested what will your friend suggest
Loved this video Lily :) I think some plants on that shelf either side of the TV would be great - some snake plants would be quite structural and elegant and not take up too much room or get in the way of the TV x
Relatable! I can style up my living area but when it comes to my bedroom I am lost. I have the same color palette (minus the navy) and similar elements. I always thought I needed another color to compliment the pink tones but the black was simply a great point!
You could paint the radiators the same colour as the wall so they blend in?? I love the wall colour so much! Can’t wait too see the end result! Have fun x
I love your honesty in this video! I’m in a similar predicament where I bought my house 2 years ago, and I just can’t figure out how to decorate it. It really is such a hard room to get right!! You were so right to ask for some guidance from your friend! Can’t wait to see the result 😀
I thought the TV would look better if it was bigger too. Our bedroom is a pale grey and we have an oatmeal colour bed and cream carpet. Most of our bedding is white or grey and all white company bedding. They are expensive but every time I’m excited to go to bed and they give that sumptuous hotel bedding style. Like sleeping on the clouds ☁️. Excited to see the changes! X
Yay I absolutely love videos like this! Seeing the process and then a reveal is my ultimate content tbh. I’ve really been into your videos (even more than usual if that’s possible) as of the last few months so keep up the good work. I’m loving it! Xx
It’s going to look so nice! Can’t wait to see the finished results! What’s the paint reference for the pink you have on the walls? I want to have a feature wall and I love that color! :)
This is so interesting! I love that you also show what didn't actually work, otherwise I find most people just tend to re-do what didn't work and won't talk about it. I actually have a very similar wall shade in my bedroom! I have an oatmeal coloured headboard in linnen, sage green bedding and oak floors. And I really do think adding that wood will make a difference, I feel like it completes the look for me :) The best of luck!
If it was me, I'd change the colour of the wall behind the TV to mirror the new headboard you'll choose. I'm thinking wallpaper with navy blue and dark green tones, possibly something tropical, which has the added bonus that the bigger TV wont stick out that much.
Ok, I'm a stylist 🤗. Some tips: curtains over the shutters: yes. Makes everything softer. Bedlinnen: just put over a bedcover and cushons. I would keep the headboard. Bed side tables: change them in drawers (extra storage) of wood? Lamps: the ones which you have and love are very industrial. I would change them for lampshades in a warm colour. And also: art in the bedroom!
Wallpaper the White wall with tv on. Get bold , bright quilt cover. Get radiator covers.Floating shelves and plants. Needs some texture somewhere . I have the same problem in my uk home and can't wait to return and blitz it 😃
I was thinking exactly the same as Rebecca 😅 Good to know my interior design studying is worthwhile! I would highly recommend mango wood for the new pieces, it's lovely especially unstained as it's nice and light! Looking forward to seeing the end result 😍
I would also get a tv which fills out the space but i would rethink the shelving above because in terms of practicality it must be so annoying to remove the dust from there!!
@@lilypebbles Since you'll be looking for a new desk, I wonder if there are desks which could maintain cold (cooler) temperature inside your drawers with makeup/skincare, while staying rather neutral to the outside touch (so you didn't feel cold on your legs, etc., when you sit at the table). I don't know if there are such items of furniture on the market, but given the modern technologies, perhaps, there are. I am saying all this because I used to live in the hot climate and remember how frustrating it was when my makeup would go soft in hotter months (which was for the most part of the year where I'd lived). Sorry for the long rambling though :-).
@@lilypebbles Could you not find something a bit like Anna has for make up and have it in your office/spare room? You might even end up with some spare drawers for extra storage
Wood head board and shorter and wood nightstands. Natural wood and top and can paint bottom cream or off white. Paint wall that has TV on it to change it up.
I really enjoyed this! I thought the guy and plaster colour went well together but I don't do it as a job like your friend does! I'd take her advice, maybe a smaller black headboard. I like what she said about the white crisp sheets, it always looks so inviting on a bed. I agree about the shelves and and a different TV, about getting a wood desk/vanity and making a gallery wall because that way you can get some prints that are personal to you and Rich. I'd love to see what you do with your room.
I loved this video Lily! We love some quality home content! Also when you mentioned how Rich was imagining life with twins my heart swelled, he's such a legend! xxxxx
Been a follower of RW for ages. She's absolutely brilliant and I've just designed my bedroom and ensuite using loads of ideas from her Instagram. She is so down to earth and obviously bloody brilliant at what she does. I'm actually quite envious you got to hang out together!! Can't wait to see the end result! Xxx
They sell curtain polls that are around the exact width of a window so you can hang curtains in a more decorative manner. It could look nice and break up the window. Or I think a white wooden makeup table would look great. I feel like a full on wood table would stand out too much and close in the corner, but a shiny white one like you have it too sleek thus a painted wooden one could be a happy medium. Just a thought.
I loved this video. Your room is gorgeous, but once Rebecca said about the ideas she had, I was like yes!! She is right. I cant wait to see it finished. X
I've found that textured white duvets work well to give that luxurious hotel feel and gives you some flexibility since they do not have to be completely smooth. Pintuck stitching is a little delicate (esp with little ones) but there are some great options out there. West elm has come up through your videos, a fave of mine as well, have you looked at their mid century desk? The drawer is smaller than the ikea but it is slim, chic and would go well with the style of your built-ins. A commenter mentioned painting the rads to recede the the wall, which is a great idea, then the shutters and desk would be your pop of white. Best of luck, whatever you choose I'm sure it'll be beautiful!
Loving the direction you’re going in. Also loved Rebecca’s ideas. But, I just feel, if you put curtains over the shutters, it might make your room look smaller. Only shutters atm are making your room look brighter and bigger. All the best for the renovations! Looking forward to how it turns out !
Not sure about Oatmeal for your headboard with the pink walls - it could end up looking a bit washed out. I think you should take inspiration from the dark wood of your wall lights - a dark wood headboard would look great against the pink and really give your bed some 'definition' - especially if you then go fpr a wooden table by the window as it would draw it all together. I agree that the grey headnoard - while very nice in and of itself - does nothing for the room.
SusanneFlora yes I totally agree.. I have to have curtains!!! They make your room so luxurious, chair and some mirrors & lots of coloured cushions...👊👊
So much has to be changed because it doesn't work with the wall colour. I would just change the wall colour then because furniture is so expensive to replace. Seems like a cheaper option to repaint.
I really liked this video and your approach! I got very inspired to get some feedback myself - even just from some fashion savvy friends! Super excited to follow this journey.
I dont understand your opinion on wood floor. Coming from a contry where we all have wooden flors, I can guaranty it is not cold, and its not echoy (i dont know how to spell that). Maybe it is when the room is empty. We just use rugs, and its so much easier to clean. I lived once in a house with carpet, and omg so much dust, you need profesional cleaning and amd still so many spill marks, especially with kids.
I’d paint the door and wardrobe doors dark grey like Frugality’s bedroom. All pink and especially pink wardrobes does look princessy. It’s not the walls, it’s the doors and gold fittings. Also look at Laura Jackson’s bedroom on Instagram - painted built-in wardrobe doors and a modern French country house feel x
I live in the arctic in the north of Norway and today we had 69 cm of snow; and we don't have carpets here. We just use big rugs on our wooden floors and it's not cold as long as the wooden floor doesn't have gaps in them.

Thought the same thing. That is just too much of the same colour at the moment.
I was going to say the same. Either the walls or the wardrobes need to be painted another colour. I think otherwise it looks quite old fashioned
I’ve always loved listening to thoughts that go behind interior designing. And your voice is so soothing. Am rewatching all your previous reno videos!
Thank you!
Lily it’s refreshing to see how you value practicality and show that you don’t have to sacrifice it for style and instgramable photos 🌷

paint the radiators with setting plaster to make them disappear.

Yes!!

Probably, but it's the only place I have to keep it.
@@lilypebbles I understand.
Xxx
Me too, she's super talented
They sell curtain polls that are around the exact width of a window so you can hang curtains in a more decorative manner. It could look nice and break up the window. Or I think a white wooden makeup table would look great. I feel like a full on wood table would stand out too much and close in the corner, but a shiny white one like you have it too sleek thus a painted wooden one could be a happy medium. Just a thought.
I have the same desk from West Elm you have in your study and use that as my makeup desk.
Yes that's what I have as my dressing table too!
Oh yeah, bring on episode 2, baby! Can’t wait!
Gray and that pink looks good, but it should have been a darker gray..
I loved this video. Your room is gorgeous, but once Rebecca said about the ideas she had, I was like yes!! She is right. I cant wait to see it finished. X
Really love the home interior videos and collaborating with someone else too. Great way to learn!
I love interior design content! So enjoyable to watch and informative for future design decisions.
Cannot wait for the 2nd episode of this!! xx
I’m excited to see what you do!! Honestly I think a new headboard and art on the wall will make a huge difference for you.
Loving the direction you’re going in. Also loved Rebecca’s ideas. But, I just feel, if you put curtains over the shutters, it might make your room look smaller. Only shutters atm are making your room look brighter and bigger. All the best for the renovations! Looking forward to how it turns out !
So many great ideas! I can’t wait to see the progression!
I love your interior design videos! Can't wait to see the final result!
Where is your jewellery stand from? Love it!
I reckon it's from oliver bonas
Not sure about Oatmeal for your headboard with the pink walls - it could end up looking a bit washed out. I think you should take inspiration from the dark wood of your wall lights - a dark wood headboard would look great against the pink and really give your bed some 'definition' - especially if you then go fpr a wooden table by the window as it would draw it all together. I agree that the grey headnoard - while very nice in and of itself - does nothing for the room.
I believe charcoal, pink, crisp white sheets and oat milk/beige details is going to look so so so hotel and modern.
Love interior content! ☺️ Curtains can totally change a room (don't most hotels have them? 🤔) even if you don't need or plan to "use" them
SusanneFlora yes I totally agree..
I love the room so much as it is! It's so unique :)
love the interior content! could someone tell me where lily's jewelry stand is from? the one under the TV? thanks :)
I think it's Oliver Bonas
@@jasnmaf thank you so much!
V excited to see how you go Lily. I’m having the same bedroom predicament 🤔🤔
Am i the only one who actually loves the grey carpet with the pink walls? 😂
WatchMeFail I love grey and pick together!!
Soooo excited....love a makeover!
Oh man I’m so excited to see the results!
I really enjoyed it! Looking forward to seeing the upgrade 🙌🏽
Fab video, I love your style and think this will look great!
I would paint put the radiators in the setting plaster to make them disappear and not draw your eye to them. Xx
I thought Rebecca's ideas were spot on!
Lily - you are glowing. Would love to see your updated makeup here in RUclips. I know you do it on stories, which I watch religiously.
I really liked this video and your approach! I got very inspired to get some feedback myself - even just from some fashion savvy friends! Super excited to follow this journey.
I think a floating stand above the tv would be cool
